Zohran Mamdani is a broken record. He’s already done this show, but decided that we all needed an encore presentation.

Last July, the Lord Mayor opined that Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested when he came to New York City for the United Nations General Assembly in September, because he had made a campaign promise about it. He had to walk that back, admitting that he had no legal authority to do so. He still wanted people to come out and protest the prime minister, because when you make a campaign promise that you can’t keep, you should tell people to protest the other guy if they are mad, not you for making the promise in the first place, right? Not that Mamdani himself will do any protesting, mind you.

Well, after his meeting with President Trump yesterday, Mamdani went on CNN and said the thing again, because Netanyahu is scheduled to come to New York City this week.

“When it comes to Benjamin Netanyahu, I have described him as I believe him to be — a war criminal and an architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people,” the mayor told CNN after a cordial meeting with President Trump at Gracie Mansion Monday.

“I do believe that that is something that should be honored, because what we want to see, and we’ve been talking about this today, is a faith in our politics, a faith in accountability,” Mamdani said.

“If the International Criminal Court deems someone worthy of an arrest because of a violation of those laws, then who are we to say that anyone should be above that? And I think very clearly that everyone should be held accountable to it,” Mamdani said.

Well, Benjamin Netanyahu has had enough for Zohran Mamdani and his weasel act. His response?

“Shame on you, Mr. Mamdani. Shame on you for supporting the Hamas terrorist monsters who butchered our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against New York Jews,” Netanyahu said in a fiery video message on X.

Mamdani in July called for New Yorkers to protest Netanyahu’s visit, though he’s now trying to claim he didn’t say it. He’s also backed off his campaign promise to personally arrest the prime minister, admitting he lacks the political power.

“I’m coming to the UN. I’m going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers and I’m gonna tell the truth about you,” Netanyahu vowed.

Mamdani, still beating this drum, repeated himself again when he heard about Netanyahu’s statement.

He hit back again when asked about Netanyahu’s video during an unrelated press conference Tuesday.

“We all know that what the prime minister has said in that video is not true,” the mayor told reporters.

“What we do know to actually be the truth when it comes to the prime minister is that he is the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity,” he reiterated.

Well, Netanyahu just ensured that his speech to the UN General Assembly is something to not miss, even though I’m certain that a ton of countries will stage their usual walkout for his address. If the prime minister uses his speech to talk about the attacks on Jews in New York City, and Mamdani’s weak response, good. If the speech highlights the hypocrisy and insanity of the International Criminal Court, even better.

But the best part about Netanyahu giving his speech, and then packing up and leaving, will be the proof that Zohran Mamdani is, was, and always will be, an empty suit. He promised to arrest Netanyahu during his campaign in order to throw red meat to his supporters. He had to back off and merely encourage protests (and a permission structure to attack the prime minister while keeping his own hands clean), and now he won’t even bother to show up to protest (which will keep his hands even cleaner). Instead, Zohran Mamdani is an impotent whiner. He can’t do a damn thing, so he’s just going to use big words and hide behind an international court. Meanwhile, Netanyahu could come in, criticize and mock Mamdani in New York City, and then leave. I’d ask if Mamdani could feel shame, but I don’t think he has enough self-awareness for that.
