Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! Winter is surely upon us so while you can certainly enjoy a flute or three of champagne, there also some delightful hot adult beverages to keep you toasty. And do be tempted by the spread of mini quiches. And while the weather is in the colder range, the last week has seen some heating of the 2024 election cycle. Of course, accompanied by the usual dire warnings from the portside if one dares dissent. So dig in and let’s get to it.

The gadfly we need

Whatever else you may think of Vivek Ramaswamy, the man can give a Masterclass on how to handle the media.

Not since Jordan Peterson decisively schooled Cathy Newman has a person been so willing to refuse to play by the Progressives-with-bylines rules.

Certainly, Ron DeSantis has scored points on the hostile media, but Vivek consistently, and with great relish, rocks them back on their heels. More, please.

Not anti-Israel, but anti-Jew

I’m sorry, dears, to subject you to this today. But the waves of virulent Jewhate that have oozed out from the sewers known as Left-run cities and colleges since Oct 7 has been stunning. If one ever needed proof that San Francisco has become a dangerously diseased place, here it is:

I hope this finally breaks Disney

Notice the snide remark from the interviewer about “… and the women who are enabling and facilitating The Patriarchy”? From Marvel to Kathleen Kennedy and now Chinoy, they all act as if this is Year Zero. That only now are teh womens going to be shown as the best, brightest and stunningly brave leaders EVAH. Never mind all those heroines in fiction and even real life that have gone before. You see, since they helped facilitate male creations of strong women characters (Alien, Star Wars, Terminator, etc), they don’t count. Indeed, they must be broken, too.

Don’t spend one dime more on Disney.

The erasure of women continues apace

Following a long, beloved standard of Leftists everywhere, TRA-obsessed Ken Schultz slings mud at Riley Gaines. For a craven gay man who confesses he didn’t “come out” to his family until he was 35 y/o — brave and stunning, right? — he’s sure fast with kicking women under the bus as insincere and/or mercenary cuz they don’t want strange males wagging their junk at them in gym locker rooms.

Her growing celebrity in the anti-trans movement eventually led to further gigs. Summer 2023 was momentous for her as she launched her Outkick podcast that July. Then in August, conservative advocacy organization The Leadership Institute announced the founding of The Riley Gaines Center to oversee her speaking events. (snip)

As her national profile has risen, it’s clear that Gaines’ vitriol about trans people turned increasingly dangerous. It’s also proven to be quite lucrative.

OOOOoooo, Riley is dangerous … Well, in exposing LARPing, autogynephiliac males invading women’s spaces, sure. Kenny is oblivious that any woman should object to males taking female sports titles and scholarships. So it has to be about the money. Koch money, too.

I’m glad there wasn’t social media when I was 20 years old

Now dears, it is Sunday so I’m going to be very charitable with this young lady.

I can understand her frustration of reality not meeting her expectations. I was 20 once myself and adulting for the first time is not for the fainthearted. Grumbling and venting is expected. But the poor dear seems to be envious of a fable. The vast majority of 20-year-olds are, by virtue of age, not living independently. Everything from living at home, to dorms, to less than ideal apartments and sometimes sketchy roommates, reality bites. Sadly, this youngin’ may grow up one day and hope that no one digs up this hissy fit.

Your Sunday smile

Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes they have four legs.

A Texas K9 was awarded a Purple Heart on Tuesday after he heroically responded to an officer-involved shooting in November.

Jack, a K9 who works with the Weatherford Police Department, was attempting to help serve a warrant when the event turned into a police shootout with a suspect.

Jack was shot in his paw and ear during the exchange of fire, FOX 4 reported.

Hope Jack got a nice ribeye dinner, too. Good boy!

I’m sorry to say our time together has come to a close. Sunday morning passes so fast when I get to share it with you. Please take time to relax the rest of today … family, friends or a good book. The world can wait until Monday, and I’m sure I’ll have lots to share with you next Sunday. Until then …

Cheers!

My original thoughts on that young lady were not very kind. But I get it; it sucks to be poor and it’s even worse when it feels like there’s no way out. Been there, done it, lived it.

I noticed that the young woman in the video was wearing a Walmart vest. I hope that she digs into history and finds out just how much damage they did to American manufacturing and shopping. Like telling companies what they would pay for an item, forcing them overseas; not scheduling the workers enough for full time and benefits, moving into an area, undercutting the small stores and then determining they are not making enough profit and closing.

Most of us have been where she is, we get it. She’s one who’s going to make it, she’s at least trying! As for blaming the older generations, she’s somewhat right there, too, and we also did that, didn’t we? The trick is to stay the course, keep on keeping on.
Now the ones she’s blaming are facing old age and the same complaints are taking a turn around the course yet again! Where to live, we can’t afford it, we’re failing in health, wealth, and happiness! It’s just life!

Vivek, two ton elephant in the room that the media wishes would just disappear, is spot on with the arrows he keeps shooting at the media. This clip, which won’t make it within smelling distance of any of the alphabet soup media’s reporting, provides further proof who the media is in the tank for. There was not one word that they, the media, can refute because everything he said was true. Unfortunately I don’t think he has enough traction to be the nominee but he would sure make one fine Vice President and use that as the steppingstone to the presidency.

    Ummm, whose team members?
Remember, those of us who do not do Twitter can’t see the context of anything you posted, unless you do the full reply thing (where the original is embedded in your tweet).

“Twenty years ago when you first started, you could live on your own.”
No, sweetcheeks, they couldn’t. And 40 years ago when I “first started” I couldn’t either. I couldn’t after college, either – I sublet a duplex from a guy. By that, I mean that I had 2 rooms at the back, and that bathroom, plus the shared living room and kitchen. I had rent-to-own furniture. Quit your whining about your expectations and get on with life, dear. Or you will never quite catch up.
