Gutfeld Explains Trump’s COVID Reaction

On Friday’s episode of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” Greg Gutfeld explained why he thought President Trump ventured into the public, despite COVID.

In short, Trump wanted to show Americans that even in a pandemic life must go on. Naturally liberals went berserk.

It started when liberal host Juan Williams noted that Trump was going to Walter Reed. In Willliams’s mind, the fact that the President was heading to the hospital indicated that he must have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Example A: Prime Minister Boris Johnson, a much younger man than Trump, who barely survived the virus.

Gutfeld countered by pointing out that Trump would be going to the hospital because he is . . . wait for it. . . the President! As such, he does get different treatment than the average citizen. Gutfeld also added that Trump is the type of guy who would really hate the hospital, too.

Gutfeld also mused on why Trump didn’t hide from the virus in the manner of Joe Biden holing up at home. That’s because, he said, he didn’t want the rest of America to be afraid, either.

“And the reason why he didn’t hide from the virus is because he didn’t want America to hide from the virus. If he was going to ask America to get back to work… and experience a risk, he was going to do the same thing.”

“He was going to walk out there on that battlefield with you and not sit somewhere in a basement and tell you how you’ve got to get back to work, but not go out himself.”

Sounds a bit dramatic, but it makes sense. In fact, it’s no more silly than the Twitter mob who claim with absolute certainty that Trump “just wants people to die.” If they can second-guess the President, why not Greg Gutfeld?

Williams rebutted with a “yeah, but Trump. . .”

“But he is a man who was very clear in saying that this was going to disappear magically. He’s a guy who was mocking, at times, former Vice President Biden for wearing a mask, even recently.”

Gutfeld pointed out what Democrats said at the start of the pandemic.

“None of the ‘ha ha, I told you so’ experts ever agreed with Trump about the travel ban. None of the ‘ha ha, I told you so’ experts said anything when de Blasio or Pelosi said live life as normal.”

That’s true. In fact, no one had any idea how the pandemic would run its course. Remember when the CDC couldn’t decide whether to mask or not to mask? Or when estimated deaths ranged from 100,000 to over 2 million? Yet Americans were supposed to follow the “experts'” guidelines.

And what about all those politicians who didn’t wear masks in public in early March? This would include Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and U.S. Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker. And yes — even Joe Biden.

But Trump deserved what he got because he went out in public, says the Left. Maskless, to boot. Therefore Gutfeld must be castigated for praising Trump’s actions.

HuffPost wrote that Gutfeld thinks that “Trump Got the Coronavirus for America.”  The Daily Beast characterized his take as an assertion that Trump committed “an act of selfless bravery.” Plus, an even more overwrought writer at Business Insider claimed that Gutfeld “cast Trump as a war hero.”

Oh, please. Spare me the hysterics.

Did President Trump intentionally expose himself to COVID-19? Of course not — he’s not playing the martyr. But he does want to be president again. And which man looks stronger and braver: the President who actively goes into the public, despite a pandemic? Or the feeble man who stays at home and wears a mask constantly, even when he’s at a distance from other people?

Trump, having a sixth sense for promotion and public image, plays the part of the stronger man. While doing so, he also shows that nation that we need to carry on, despite COVID-19. Greg Gutfeld may have been effusive in his praise for Trump, but he’s absolutely correct in his assessment of the President.

Saw that segment of 5 — totally agree

Presidents lead, snivelers hide in the basement.

Trump is a President. Biden is a sniveler.

You are exactly correct. Can you imagine (NOT wishing it) Joe Biden contracting the Wuhan Red Death? Care to predict his, and his campaign’s reaction? And, of course, DOCTOR Jill Biden’s?
