Rep. Rashida Tlaib lives for the days when she can blame white supremacy for every evil in America. So imagine her glee at the December 11 shooting at the JC Kosher Supermarket in Jersey City. Not only could she blame white supremacists for the three deaths, but she would earn some cred in the Jewish community as well. Win, win!
Posting an image of murder victim Moshe Deutsch, a young rabbinical student, Tlaib said this on Twitter:
“This is heartbreaking. White supremacy kills.”
Except the killers weren’t white at all. In fact, they were members of the Black Hebrew Israelites, a group so outlandish that even the leftists at the Southern Poverty Law Center call it a hate group. David Anderson, one of the now-deceased assailants, was a member of the group. The other shooter, also deceased, was Francine Graham. And yes, they were both black.
Oops.
After Twitter followers pointed out her massive error, Tlaib went into crisis mode and deleted her tweet. But you know the internet is forever.

Now did Rashida apologize for her error, condemn the shooters, or express condolences? Nope. Oh, her office eventually pointed out a previous tweet which condemned the shooting itself, but other than that they had no comment for reporters.
You’d think Tlaib would check her sources before putting her virtual foot in her mouth. After all, the Black Hebrew Israelites were famously involved in a kerfuffle in Washington, DC, in January, when they confronted students from Covington High School, KY, during the March for Life. They’re also anti-Semitic, call Jews “imposters,” oh, and they hate police. too. Plus, David Anderson had a criminal record to boot.
But why should she allow a little investigation get in the way of an inflammatory narrative, right?
This isn’t Tlaib’s first time at the foot-in-mouth rodeo, either. She supported hate crime faker and sometime actor Juicy Smollier Jussie Smollett when he falsely claimed he was attacked by two Trump supporters in Chicago:
“When one of the most famous black and gay men in America is not safe, the message is clearer than it has ever been. The dangerous lies spewing from the right wing is killing & hurting our people.”
“Thinking of you @JussieSmollett, and my LGBTQ neighbors.”
You’d think she’d learn.
Now since Rashida Tlaib is so fast on her feet in condemning violence and the deaths of innocent people, I wonder what she commented about the shooting at the Pensacola Naval Air Station on December 6? After all, the shooter was a Saudi national who had embraced radical Muslim theology even years prior to killing three sailors at the base. You’d think she’d have a lot to say about this, right?
I searched the internet. I also searched Rashida Tlaib’s tweets, at both her Twitter pages. Nothing, nada. Not even tributes to the three men killed, one of whom was named Mohammed Haitham.
That’s different, I guess. Doesn’t fit her narrative.

they were members of the Black Hebrew Israelites
Just one caveat. The report I saw made the “was” into actual past tense – as if he wasn’t necessarily part of them now. And it also said she hadn’t joined up, though she went all “radicalized” after hooking up with this guy. Other reports have been looser with the definitions. Given how little I trust the media to get anything right, I’ll go with the tighter definitions for now.
(It doesn’t materially impact your post, Kim, but it’s one of those “Oh, you were wrong here!” sort of gotchas someone could pull.)
one of the most famous black and gay men in America
Wow. And here I didn’t know him at all – as either black OR gay. Until he ran his little scam, that is.
(Do none of the In Living Color guys count? I still do the Z-Snaps Up when something really impresses me.*)
(Am I showing my age?)
That’s different, I guess.
Nothing like selective outrage to bring autocrats together, eh?
(* I’m sure that my laughing at “Men On Film” means I’m really a closeted homosexual, expressing my suppressed blah blah blah blah blah blah *makes yapping motion with hand*. All that stuff? Hated it!.)
“You’d think she’d learn.”… Nope, not for a second. I have yet to see anything to convince me that this America hating racist muslim twunt has anything greater than a room temp IQ, or any intelligence greater than that of a common houseplant, so no, I do’t expect her to learn a damn thing..
