According to an article in Politico.com, Nancy Pelosi doesn’t necessarily want to impeach President Donald J. Trump, but she does want to see him in prison. Speaker Pelosi may have been throwing a bone to her increasingly restive Democrat colleagues, but she also has been openly spinning the “Trump collusion” narrative as Victory Girls’ Nina wrote recently. Poor Nancy has been chewing on the insides of her own cheeks since her “Girl Power” buddy, Hillary Clinton, was defeated by the President.

Speaker Pelosi met with top Democrats on Tuesday night to discuss a way forward. To impeach, or not to impeach, that is the question. Pelosi went one better and expressed her fondest desire: Trump in prison. Attendees of the meeting included the usual suspects: Jerrold Nadler (NY), Adam Schiff (CA), Elijah Cummings (MD), Elliot Engel (NY), and Richard Neal (MA). Take a good look at that list of attendees. You notice it too? Coastal Liberal elites, every single one of them.

The Politico article relates the frustration of Jerrold Nadler:

Pelosi met with Nadler (D-N.Y.) and several other top Democrats who are aggressively pursuing investigations against the president, according to multiple sources. Nadler and other committee leaders have been embroiled in a behind-the-scenes turf battle for weeks over ownership of the Democrats’ sprawling investigation into Trump.

Nadler pressed Pelosi to allow his committee to launch an impeachment inquiry against Trump — the second such request he’s made in recent weeks only to be rebuffed by the California Democrat and other senior leaders. Pelosi stood firm, reiterating that she isn’t open to the idea of impeaching Trump at this time.

“I don’t want to see him impeached, I want to see him in prison,” Pelosi said, according to multiple Democratic sources familiar with the meeting. Instead of impeachment, Pelosi still prefers to see Trump defeated at the ballot box and then prosecuted for his alleged crimes, according to the sources.

The biggest problem the Democrats face is that they won the House majority in 2018 with moderate candidates in some districts. Nancy Pelosi is aware and so is Congressman Neal. From the Politico article:

Neal also grumbled about Democrats who have come out in favor of impeachment, saying it puts pressure on members in bordering congressional districts to explain why they don’t feel the same way. House Rules Chairman Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) — whose district touches Neal’s — came out for impeachment last week.

This week, the New York Times indicated that only 59 of the 235 Democrat representatives have come out in favor of impeachment. Speaker Pelosi knows that if she doesn’t have the public support for the rest of the representatives, she’ll lose the gavel in 2020. And, she has a death grip on the gavel.

Jerrold Nadler’s anger at President Trump demands impeachment now. Again, from Politico:

“We are investigating all of the things we would investigate, frankly, in an impeachment inquiry,” Nadler said on CNN. He then paused for several seconds when asked if he and Pelosi were “on the same page.”

“When that decision has to be made, it will be made not by any one individual, it will be made probably by the caucus as a whole,” Nadler added. “Certainly Nancy will have the largest single voice in it.”

Just last week, Speaker Pelosi went on the Jimmy Kimmel Show to discuss the path the Democrats are on:

Immodestly, Nancy Pelosi believes she probably has a “better idea of what the President has to be held accountable than anyone.” Immodesty and sharp elbows are probably two of the Speaker’s more attractive qualities.

And, so it goes. To impeach, or not to impeach, that is the question facing Democrats. How much do they love power? How much do they hate Donald Trump? Then, there is the Pelosi option: Defeat Trump at the ballot box, and then, imprison him.
