On Saturday, Joe Biden held a rally in Columbia, South Carolina, his first foray in that significant southern state. Naturally he targeted President Trump (“Above all else, we must defeat Donald Trump”). Then he followed the Democrat playbook with promises of affordable health insurance (been there, done that, still sucks) and support for unions.

And, because he’s courting the black vote in SC, Biden brought up the Ghost of Jim Crow and voter suppression.

“You’ve got Jim Crow sneaking back in. You know what happens when you have an equal right to vote? They lose.”

Does that rhetoric sound familiar? Why yes, yes it does. Let’s go to back to a Biden Blast from the Past, namely the 2012 presidential election.

By recalling the bad old days of southern segregation, Joe Biden updated “Back in Chains, 1.0” to the new “Jim Crow, 2.0” version. Yet he also told the South Carolina rally attendees that he offers them:

“… hope over fear, unity over division, truth over lies, and science over fiction.”

Dragging out the bad memories of Jim Crow — yep, that’ll sow “hope over fear, and unity over division.”

But Joe Biden has the cred, man!

“So I think the African-American community nationwide knows who I am. I’m not saying the others aren’t qualified, I’m just saying I’ve been there.”

Well, of course he’s fawning over the black vote. Blacks constitute a majority of primary voters in South Carolina.

But African-American voters should see Biden as just another gasbag sucking up to them for votes, especially considering his past racial gaffes.

Aside from the cringeworthy “put y’all back in chains” moment, Biden has a lengthy track record of racial bloopers. Let’s look at a few, shall we?

• 1975: Biden opposed school busing with this:

“First, busing, in effect, codifies the concept that a black is inferior to a white by saying, “The only way you can cut it educationally is if you’re with whites.”

• 2006: the Dunkin’ Donuts slip-up:

“In Delaware … you cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts without at least a slight Indian accent.”

•  2007: the Iowa schools screwup. Joe Biden said that schools in Iowa perform better than the rest of the nation because Iowa has less minorities.

“There’s less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African-American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities …. So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with.”

• 2007, again: Biden called then-IL State Sen. Barack Obama “articulate” and “clean” while considering it to be high praise:

“. . .the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

• Also 2007: Joe Biden bragged that he worked hard to get black men to wear condoms. Yes, really.

“I spent last summer going through the black sections of my town holding rallies in parks trying to get black men to understand it’s not unmanly to wear a condom…”

What is it about Democrats, especially the gaffe-prone like Joe Biden, who resort to telling black Americans that their only hope is with the Democratic Party? And then tell bald-faced lies that Republicans want to resurrect Jim Crow laws? How insulting to people of all races!

But it’s when jobs growth is ballooning while unemployment is heading south under President Trump that Democrats resort to fear and panic among minority voters. After all, that’s all they’ve got.
