Jerry Brown is leaving California in a complete mess and he is utterly oblivious to it. In one single interview he compared climate change to World War II and slammed rural Californian’s for not liking the gas tax!
In case you didn’t want to watch “Moonbeam” bloviate in order to keep your computer intact, let’s go to the article shall we?
First up: Jerry’s claim that climate change has the same challenges that we faced in WWII.
“I would point to the fact that it took Roosevelt many, many years to get America willing to go into World War II and fight the Nazis. Well, we have an enemy, though different, but perhaps, very much devastating in a similar way. And we’ve got to fight climate change. And the president’s got to lead on that.”
*Bangs head on desk 6 or 5 times. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!! The man does not know history well at all!
NOBODY wanted to go to war back then! Yes, there were many who wanted to help England but there were far too many others who wanted America to stay out of the fight. But good ole Jerry is now trying to tell us that Roosevelt spent years trying to get us into WWII and Americans resisted? The absurdity of all that is mind-boggling.
Don’t even get me started on how the “science” of climate change is wrong. Hey Jerry? It wasn’t climate change that started the Camp Fire a couple of months ago. It was downed power lines and an incompetent power company that is now facing multiple lawsuits.
According to Jerry, CA needs to bite the bullet and get zero emission cars on the road, finally build that high speed train to nowhere, convert to wind energy, and make every new home have solar (no matter the cost). Funny thing about the wind energy. Wind farms have, at most, a 20 year shelf life. But I digress.
Jerry then blasted rural Californians for not liking the gas tax. Chuck Todd at least pointed out that this gas tax hurts those who don’t have access to public transportation. He’s right, but Jerry would have none of it.
“You won your gas tax fight, but rural Californians didn’t like it,” Todd said.
“No, they don’t. They don’t like a lot of things. They voted against housing bonds, they voted for the Republican Cox who didn’t even make 40 percent,” Brown said, referring to his reelection’s vote margin.

“There is the same divide in California as in America. The red is different than the blue, and it is associated definitely with rural areas,” he said.
Oh well…isn’t that special??!! I’m sure those in rural California…who feed the state and the entire country for that matter were thrilled to hear that higher taxes will cure everything if only they’d just vote Democrat!
Todd also asked about the yellow vest movement roiling France, in which many rural French people are protesting their own fuel tax and President Emmanuel Macron’s response to their concerns. Brown, however, said the problem is that France doesn’t tax rich people enough.
“In terms of what happened in France, I believe the president cut back on taxes for the very wealthy and at the same time he imposed what is essentially a sales tax and on working and poor people. So that is very different from our own tax,” he said.
He credited Californians with understanding that the high taxes and spending are “helping their community.”
We wrote about the yellow vest protests here, here, and here. Needless to say, the protests had merit. Higher fuel taxes at the rate of $6-8 a gallon are and will hurt France’s economy because it is impacting business at all levels.
Higher taxes for the sake of idiotic debunked hockey stick science doesn’t work. Higher taxes for the sake of virtue signaling and political correctness is why businesses are leaving California in droves. Higher taxes is a leading cause of increase in food prices.
Jerry Brown wants to tax the rich to fight the imaginary battle of climate change while slamming those in rural California who will be hurt the most. Great. Then he needs to start taxing himself first.

Ummm, “whole country” if your diet consists of wine, almonds and guacamole. Otherwise, plenty of states in the middle of America (wheat, corn, beans, beef, pork, chicken, milk, eggs, cranberries, etc….) would disagree with you.
