The FBI Admits They Screwed Up on Nikolas Cruz. But They’re So Sorry. [VIDEO]

Well, guess what, everyone — the FBI is finally admitting they dropped the ball on high school shooter Nikolas Cruz.

This kid left a trail of breadcrumbs a mile long, and yet law enforcement just said, “Meh.”

It’s so egregious that Florida Gov. Rick Scott is now calling for the FBI director to resign.

On Friday, the FBI said that just last month — let that sink in — a person close to Cruz contacted them. The information the caller told the FBI was ominous.

Cruz not only owned a gun, but he expressly said that he wanted to kill people, and school shootings seemed to be a thing with him.

The caller reported this on January 5th, and yet the FBI did nothing. But they’ve released a sterile mea culpa, written in bureaucratic speak, naturally:

On January 5, 2018, a person close to Nikolas Cruz contacted the FBI’s Public Access Line (PAL) tipline to report concerns about him. The caller provided information about Cruz’s gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behavior, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting. . . .

We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5. The information was not provided to the Miami Field Office, and no further investigation was conducted at that time.

However, FBI Director Christopher Wray also told everyone how sorry he is.

“We have spoken with victims and families, and deeply regret the additional pain this causes all those affected by this horrific tragedy. All of the men and women of the FBI are dedicated to keeping the American people safe, and are relentlessly committed to improving all that we do and how we do it.”

Well, that should make everyone feel better, right?

Never mind that the FBI also passed over a report that YouTuber Ben Bennight gave them in September of last year. As you recall, Bennight reported that Cruz posted the comment, “I’m going to be a professional school shooter” on YouTube. However, while the FBI did speak with Bennight, they said it “had been unable to identify the person who posted the comment.”

And did the FBI contact YouTube? Nope, no follow up.

Yet a former FBI bigwig showed up on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” to tell his side of the story. Something about a big book of regulations they have to follow. And that’s why the nation’s premiere law enforcement agency just couldn’t stop a teenager who wanted to shoot up a school. Or the Tsarnaev Brothers, or Omar Mateen, either.

Oh, but there’s more. Cruz was a bad seed for years, with police reports dating back to 2010. Broward County sheriff’s deputies went to Cruz’s residence 36 times over a six year period.

Nikolas Cruz fought with his mother and brother, and called his mother a “useless b***h.” He threw items. He cut himself. Moreover, he and his brother both took medication for OCD and ADHD. Yet in a final report from September, 2016, a therapist concluded that Cruz “was no threat to anyone or himself.”

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. My five-year-old grandson can connect dots in a book better than the FBI or the Broward County police.

And yet life went on. Until it didn’t, when Cruz’s glossed-over rage exploded inside a high school on Valentine’s Day. And seventeen innocent people died.

But the FBI is really, really sorry. Don’t you feel better now?

Private citizens did the right things; it was our public officials who didn’t do their jobs! The police were called dozens of times, yet he was never arrested, never charged with any crime, including not being charged with having assaulted his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, the act which got him expelled from school.

No criminal record, either juvenile nor adult, meant that when he tried to buy the AR-15, he could, completely legally.

The FBI didn’t do its job, The school authorities didn’t do their jobs. The police didn’t do their jobs. Because nobody did his f(ornicating) job, 17 innocent people are stone-cold graveyard dead.

The left, of course, want more gun control laws. What difference would more gun control laws have done when law enforcement and public officials are not enforcing the laws already on the books?

And, at some point, in some place, this will lead to a citizen taking back his duty* to enforce safety in the community, and preempt one of these guys.

And, he will be excoriated and persecuted for it.

(* In a free society, police are only fellow citizens paid to do full-time what it is a citizen’s duty to do part-time.)

Ummm, no, evidently someone is not “relentlessly” committed.

I hate to say “I told you so”… but I told you so:
The other thing I’ve been wondering, though, is whether he, at any point, passed through an official checkpoint – juvenile hall, an arrest, etc. – where someone said “well, we don’t want to damage his future by tarring him with this for the rest of his life…”.

Guys? A “We f*ed up” – and leave it at that – would have been a much better answer.

Regarding “… “well, we don’t want to damage his future by tarring him with this for the rest of his life…”.
It’s time for consequences. Forget damaging his future. When I was growing up society let me know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there would be drastic consequences for bad behavior that would follow me forever. Not so today. It’s too easy for a criminally minded person to think they’ll probably not face consequences because so many do not.

Maybe the FBI was busy doing other very, very important things like trying to keep the lid on their efforts to submit fraudulent wire-tapping applications to the FISA court.
