Donald Sterling Reactions Go Viral, People Lose Their Minds

You’ve all heard about the remarks made by LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling during a private phone conversation to his girlfriend, in which he told her not to post pictures with African-Americans on Instagram or bring them to games.  (If you want to read them in full, click here.)

Naturally, the entire country is losing their marbles over it, because God knows people who say offensive things should all be silenced.  LA Councilman Bernard Parks is drafting a resolution to condemn Sterling and call for “appropriate sanctions” from the NBA.  The team turned their warmup uniforms inside out before their game, hiding the Clippers logo in protest.  Various celebrities and other folks have weighed in as well.  The vote is unanimous: Donald Sterling is an awful, awful man and should feel the wrath in every way possible.  There oughta be a law or something, according to the tolerance police.  They can call you any one of a hundred filthy, disgusting, rotten things—and they do—but God forbid someone say something they don’t like.

Never one to let an opportunity to foment racial discord go to waste, Obama had some remarks of his own.  Speaking in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, he called the comments “incredibly offensive” and “racist,” adding that “when ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk.”

Yeah, we know.  Your VP spends a lot of time in public.

I’m known for having unpopular opinions, and here goes another one.  Who cares?  Seriously—who cares that some guy with a lot of money said some stupid crap that we don’t agree with?  Bill Gates says things I don’t agree with daily.  So do a lot of people.  In fact, if I spent all my time trying to police what people say, making sure that everyone who said words or phrases or ideas that were offensive to me got their hands slapped, I wouldn’t get anything productive done.  Besides, as much as liberals—and some conservatives, sadly—hate to hear it, the guy has a right to whatever idiotic opinion he wants. If he wants to be a jackass, guess what?  He’s got a right to be that, and everyone else has the right to be mad and waste all their time “condemning” it.  Because he obviously cares so much about what others think anyway.  I didn’t even know who the guy was until all this happened, and I can’t say I care about his existence any more now that I do know who he is.  He’s just a guy, who’s obviously a jerk.

Quite frankly, that girlfriend of his is no prize either.  Shallow people, saying shallow and stupid things, and we’re surprised? We’re actually wasting time on this? We spend so much time trying to tell people they can’t say this word or can’t use that phrase, and oh, if you say that other thing in the wrong context you’re being offensive.  Get over it, people.  People say offensive things.  You don’t have to like it.  You don’t have to keep buying his stuff or supporting his team.  You don’t even have to accept what he said.  You only have to accept that he has the right to say it.

If you can honestly tell me you’ve never said anything in a private conversation that you wouldn’t like splattered all over the world…not a single joke, not a single comment, not a single, solitary thing ever that someone could point to and yell RAYCISS… then go ahead and get out those pitchforks and torches. Keep in mind, by the way, that the current belief among the Left is that just being white means you’re racist.  Have fun enforcing all that tolerance; I’ve got much better things to do.

If you don’t like what the guy said, then don’t buy Clippers tickets and merchandise.  Protest with your wallet, then move on.  Is this really the worst thing going on in this country right now?  Oh wait, I forgot…the worst thing is some rancher not paying his fees.

Yeah, funny how that goes. A black man spews racial hatred & it gets no attention.

    I agree – who cares!!!!!

This is not much different than what happened to Brandon Eich, except that no one seems to be talking about the fact that Sterling was recorded in this conversation then that conversation was put out to the media.
I have to question the legality of that, in addition to the legality of the recording used to blackmail the man. What other reason would there be to put the recording out there, particularly when we know that he is being sued by his wife for divorce and the girlfriend is being sued.
All that aside, once again we have a person being told they must give up an investment because despite any actions to the contrary(the guy has received numerous awards over the years from minority groups for his donations, etc. That includes not just the NAACP, but the United Negro College Fund, etc.) but because in private, he doesn’t want his girlfriend to associate with black Americans. He didn’t say this in public, he said it on a phone conversation to a trusted individual.
And the mob mentality is on. The tit for tat stuff, such as the ridiculous display his players put on, worthy of 8 year old kids, not adult multi millionaire spoiled basketball players of removing their inside out team shirts and throwing them on the floor in a circle is so childish and so revealing.
Government officials drafting resolutions, etc. I’m sure the IRS is on the case, as is Eric Holder. We DO have thought police in this country, it is called the race grievance industry. It’s being aided more and more by the government.

I don’t know, the only thing offensive to me (other than the original remarks) is the LA Councilman sticking the fingers of big government into this. I disagree that everyone else has to shut up about it.

SO WHAT! he is not an elected or appointed official. he has no power over anything other than the team, HIS TEAM. if the players don’t like it then they can go find a job.

The Double Standard in all its glory:

“White folks was [sic] in caves while we was building empires…. We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.” – Al Sharpton

“The white man is our mortal enemy, and we cannot accept him. I will fight to see that vicious beast go down into the lake of fire prepared for him from the beginning, that he never rise again to give any innocent black man, woman or child the hell that he has delighted in pouring on us for 400 years.” — Louis Farrakhan

“White people shouldn’t be allowed to vote. It’s for the good of the country and for those who’re bitter for a reason and armed because they’re scared.” — Left-wing journalist Jonathan Valania

“We got to do something about these Asians coming in and opening up businesses and dirty shops. They ought to go.” — Marion Barry

“The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn’t. But she is a typical white person…” — Barack Obama

My understanding is that was a scandal just waiting to happen. He had bought her a car, house, and given her a million or so. He’s not divorced from his wife. The girlfriend (?) was sleeping around with other guys, apparently with his knowledge. I think she’s claims that the recording were made with his consent. She’s going to write a book (no doubt it’ll be on the NYT list for weeks).

I have little pity for his situation. If he doesn’t have enough sense not to say much more than “Come here, sweetie” to the “kept” woman, well, he was just asking for the predicament he now has on his hands. I understand there are two new Saints. Perhaps, he ought to seek their intercessions for “getting right with God.” However, I’m not sure that will help much with the “exploding heads” that are after his hide (see, I avoided using lynch mob)!
