Marine’s Letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein on her Gun Ban: “No Ma’am”

Marine’s Letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein on her Gun Ban: “No Ma’am”

It’s shameful really. While people in the bankrupt state – my home state – of California, are actually lining up to turn in their guns for grocery store gift cards, our feckless Congress, with uber-lib California Senator Dianne Feinstein taking lead, plans to launch significant new gun regulations next month.

A lot of people are not happy and don’t feel this is *just about* assault weaponry in light of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. In fact, some suggest that Feinstein was just waiting for a open door to push a gun ban anyway; that this isn’t because of Sandy Hook. According to these reports from early Nov. 2012 Feinstein was already indicating that she planned to push a assault weapons ban if Obama were re-elected. They never waste a crisis; they always lie. We know this.

Her gun ban legislation has made one person in particular so concerned that he, as an active duty veteran Marine, decided to come out of the shadows and go public with his feelings. His name is Corporal Joshua Boston and he wrote a very polite but direct letter to Senator Dianne Feinstein regarding her gun ban legislation. You can read it below.

CNN’s iReport letter from Cpl Joshua Boston to Senator Dianne Feinstein:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.
I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston
Cpl, United States Marine Corps
2004-2012

Is this a real letter from a real Marine? I don’t know. CNN says they didn’t vet this. But I suspect it’s very real indeed. I do know there seems to be a lot people, across the country, who feel like Cpl. Joshua Boston, including myself. And in the middle of all this Congressional jackassery, gun sales have soared since the Newtown school massacre, including in Connecticut where retailers are selling three times more guns than a year ago.

Is he single? ‘Cause I’m interested ….

  • Sandi Ann says:

I would have to agree with him… and I’m bettin there will be many, many other AMERICANS out there having the same thoughts!

  • Ehlenberger says:

I’m thinking “Red Dawn”. This happened in Germany, Russia and many other countries. First your guns, then your rights. It is a prelude to Socialism/Communism. They now control the media. Our American society is a low information society. Our educational system is brainwashing our children and denying them the value system our parents enjoyed. We need to be prepared to defend our country from it’s political leadership. This is the purpose of the second amendment.

  • Austin Green says:

Bravo! Well said. Every American needs to be ready to go to bat at a moments notice if freedom calls. These lunatics are bringing back the need for the Minuteman.

  • josh jones says:

I am so sorry to read this and to hear of your views. You are the problem the US currently finds itself it. You need to get off your high horses just because you choose, [thats right, you choose] to wear a uniform you are not above any other member of the public and its about time you realize that the next time you wear your uniform to obtain applause,, please-seriously? You certainly do not keep me safe, you do not act on my behalf.
Guns are designed for one purpose and that is to destroy. If guns equaled safety then the US should be the safest country in the world and I am sure you can work that one out. This country is sick and you are part of the disease.

    • Cole says:

you have to keep in mind that all branches of the armed services will not give up their guns, and most feel the same as this Marine, for without an armed population you are not free but a slave to the dictators.

    • Josh Jones is a Bitch says:

Actually, to wear a uniform does put him above other members of the general public, especially ass-hat cowards like yourself that have neither the respect or understanding of the sacrifices that men and women of our armed services make day in and day out. I applaud their willingness to serve a nation full of ingrate puppets such as yourself.

You’re right though, guns do not ensure not create safety – they ensure freedom from the tyranny for which the second amendment was created.

      • Kate says:

“I am so sorry to read this and to hear of your views. You are the problem the US currently finds itself it.”

Seriously? Where have you been??? Josh Jones you need a major overhaul in your thinking, because if that’s your basic premise about what is ailing our country, then I’m quite sorry but you have more issues than gun control to worry about.

        • ViperX says:

“You need to change your way of thinking” this seems to be a common quote from people that support gun control I first heard this from Piers Morgan. Maybe you forgot what country this is and why it was made freedom, many freedoms such as choice and beliefs. When I hear someone say this all that comes to mind is how unamerican I will not tell you to “change your way of thinking” but instead try to be a better American because till you do you have the problems not myself or any other pro gun activist.

          Sincerely,
A true American, A proud American, A gun owner that will happily use his weapon to protect those who need protection from both foreign and domestic.

    • Nakamura says:

      And So Sayeth the Simpleton.

    • Roy says:

Yup, I want to destroy every scumbagging home invader who would terrorize me and my family, kill us and take our belongings. I do not want to be like the UK, Oz or Chicago. NO THANKS.

Thanks Mr. Boston for sharing your views.

    • US Army Vet says:

You should thank that Marine for telling the truth! Now go serve this great country.

    • M L BARNES says:

How old are you “pussy” Jones? You are probably a fuzz faced punk, who needs to be turned over the knee of a World War II vet and have your butt blistered. You, my liberal ass, are the problem.

    • Frank Schuster says:

JJ, Pole the country (not by any biased media) and I am quite certain you will find the majority of the nation is in favor of the second amendment. Speaking from a CCL carrier and a retired member of the US Army who had to use my personal weapon to defend my family but fortunately did not have to discharge my weapon but merely show it to the intruder, I would say that you sir are a complete idiot. Let this incident happen to you or your family, not be armed and unable to protect them. Then watch as the intruder kills your family in front of you and see if you change your mind. If any one of the teachers in that school would have had a CCL and a weapon there could have been many lives saved. You are correct, people like you should not possess weapons due to ignorance because you would probably shoot yourself or accidentally shoot someone dear to you. Any well trained, sane American should be able to defend themselves and their family.

    • Bonnie says:

We so need to reinstate the draft and make it mandatory for EVERY man and woman to serve a minimum of two years just like Israel.

Guns were designed to protect and feed (hunt)… ANY tool in the hands of the wrong person can be used for evil; including the pen and the computer. After all, people like you are allowed to promote stupidity using the computer and the internet. Tgat Marine, my late husband, my father, my grandfather, all wore he uniform to protect YOU, your father, and your grandfather etc. Your ignorance and ingratitude are a sign of our national demise.

    • your a dumbass says:

Seriously?? Where do you come off saying that our service members active and vets. (Myself included) are on a high horse? You are rediculously misguided. We fight to keep the enemy away from your door step if we didn’t then you would surely feel different than you do now. As far as this country being sick, do you read anything about other countries? Especially the ones with strict no civilian gun ownership?? The dictators massacre the populous of those nations. This is strictly because they have no guns to defend themselves with. The 2nd Admendment states we as a people have the right to bear arms to defend ourselves from a dangers foreign and domestic. Thats right DOMESTIC the way the nation is going right the leadership is trying to make us all sheep which our forefathers would roll over in their graves if they knew was happening. So before you criticize our military think about what all we have done for you and your family.

    • Jimmy Chandler says:

Josh Jones you are a low piece of dog excrement and I truly hope you or someone just like you comes to my house to confiscate my weapons. If I can take a coward like you with me I’ll have served my country when I was called on. You’re nothing but a stupid sheep and you don’t deserve to live in the USA!!

    • Bear Sjodin says:

Dear sir. It is with in your rights to say what you want. It is also withinyour rights to live in this country. IF YOU DONTNLIKE THE WAY THAT THINGS ARE DONE HERE THEN BYALLMEANS GET THE HELL OUT. LEAVE AND NEVER COME BACK. Thanknyou.

    • Cometakethem says:

Are you SERIOUS. Can you truly be that IGNORANT??? It is this exact view of yours and the masses of your that have just about completed the “pussifocation” of this country. People with your views drive me crazy. It is an evil, unnecessary thing that has NO PLACE in TODAY’S society, UNTIL something happens to you or your family. Then let the firestorm begin about how it was allowed to happen. You must be a hell of a MAN to allow the thought of someone else to “protect” you and your family as you are so insecure with yourself to be able to offer that protection. As for me, I will gladly protect my family and friends from the threat should it ever come.

    • Coastie Vet says:

@josh jones: “… If guns equaled safety then the US should be the safest country in the world and I am sure you can work that one out…”

To which I offer by way of response:

      1) The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by law enforcement: 14. The average number of people shot in a mass shooting event when the shooter is stopped by civilians: 2.5. The reason is simple. The armed civilians are there when it started.

      2) Defensive gun uses – which are documented by the government, are measured in the millions PER YEAR. These are lives saved, victims defended, perpetrators turned away/stopped:

“So how often are guns actually used in self-defense in America?

      http://www.guncite.com/gun_control_gcdguse.html

On the high side the estimate runs around 2.5 million defensive gun uses a year, which dwarfs our approximately 16,000 homicides in any recent year, only 10k of which are with guns.

      http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm

Of those with guns, only a couple hundred are with rifles. So basically, the guns that the anti-gunners are the most spun up about only account for a tiny fraction of all our murders.

But let’s not go with the high estimate. Let’s go with some smaller ones instead. Let’s use the far more conservative 800,000 number which is arrived at in multiple studies. That still dwarfs the number of illegal shootings. Heck, let’s even run with the number once put out by the people who want to ban guns, the Brady Center, which was still around 108,000, which still is an awesome ratio of good vs. bad.”

So, @ Josh Jones… would that you would take your own advice, and do the math yourself… but I do not expect such an act of individual thought from you.

There two types of people that in an oppressive society manage to maintain their “freedom” such as it may be called. The master who would impose tyranny, and the slave who would willingly become their servant.

Call me impulsive, but I’ve a crawling feeling along the back of my neck that you’re not a part of the former group.

      the Coastie Vet

    • Neil says:

Josh… you are seriously misinformed. You strike me as someone that is most likely a complete coward. You probably wouldn’t have the courage to put on the uniform…even if you were drafted. I agree with you…this country is “sick”. It is sick because we have turned our backs on what is right…calling evil things good and good values bad. Man up my friend…you have responsibility as a man to protect those weaker than you. Also… read your history…we are free because good men and women put on a uniform and resisted tyrants (WWI and WWII).

    • Kate S. says:

Hey Josh….if you think guns don’t make people safer, answer me this: #1 would you be willing to live in a city where the police were unarmed? #2 It’s a proven fact that cities that have some of the toughest gun laws in the COUNTRY have some of the highest gun related CRIMES in the country. Banning guns does not make you safer….it only gives you the illusion of being safer.

BTW, I’m all for people sharing their views in a respectful manner but when you tell a solider that he does not keep you safer, you are being incredibly disrespectful. Maybe you don’t see this current war as a threat to your personal safety but I seriously hope you realize that if your safety ever became threatened from another country, I can assure you that this guy would give his life to protect you and your family. THAT is the point. Maybe he isn’t “actively” keeping you safe but the point is that he WOULD if it was needed. Very rude of you to be so insensitive and un-acknowledging of that fact.

    • Mark says:

Without soldiers like him you wouldn’t have a country nor would you be able to express your thoughts as you just did.

    • Lee says:

This IS the safest country on earth. Your disdain for the military tells me that you’ve probably never been outside the U.S. except maybe in a vacation spot. As a veteran myself I take issue with you attitude that we put our uniforms on for praise and applause. Put the Kool Aid down and wake up. Our country is free because our freedoms have kept the enemies off our shores. It’s not the guns that are the problem. It’s the sick people that are the problem. Seems to me that it’s gotten worse since there are no consequences for anyones actions any longer. Gun control simply does not work. Look at Mexico.

    • Douglas says:

@Josh Jones, are you kidding me? I am active duty and you are lucky this man or any of us VOLUNTEER so your sorry @ss can lay on your couch or what ever it is you do everyday. It is because of people like us, like our forefathers that gave there lives so YOU and everyone else can be free. So if you feel you do not need or want to respect this man move the hell of this country go some where else. This country was won by men giving their lives so you can be here today. You disgust me in all aspects I hope one day you will not have to call on someone like this man or any of our brother and sisters to come defend you! And if you did I am sure we still would because unlike some people i.e. YOU we understand and take pride in what we do, we are proud of it. Also just to point out if this country is so sick and it has a disease move out get going no one will miss you trust me I will vouch for it! Just letting you know from an active duty perspective that an American that is not thankful, not humble towards someone that will risk his life voluntarily so you do not have to needs to rethink if they are an American or not! Also it is true our government works for the people not the opposite!

    • Marion Barry says:

Mr. Jones, you are a civilian. The Marine who wrote the letter is something you will never understand, a VETERAN. There is a huge difference. You question America’s safety but don’t realize that our freedom, the greatest freedom left on earth, is what is at expense to be lost. “Those who would trade freedom for a little temporary safety, deserve neither.” ” One of the greatest delusions in the world is the hope that the evils in this world are to be cured by legislation.” “If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all.” These are all quotes from men who were and are much greater than those who have followed. Look them up, learn and read more about the design of this country. Learn about personal responsibility and decide if you desire that more than government dictation.

    • George London says:

You, sir are an unmitigated a$$hole. To reply in the manner you have indicates that you are typical of low-information morons produced by this Country’s public school systems.

I do wish you could meet with Corporal Boston (and myself as well) so that you could get the Shizitsky beaten out of you and left on the ground, bleeding…with many parts broken.

You do not deserve to shine the Corporal’s shoes, let alone criticize him for his letter or any portion of his remarks.

Do me a favor…publish here a way to locate you, and I will take care of business likely more than Cpl. Boston would stoop to doing.

      Drop dead…

      GAL

    • Alan says:

You’re right. He did choose. He chose willing to sacrifice years if his life and put it all on the line to protect what’s important to him. he made that choose on his own. If anything, he deserves even more respect, along with all members of the armed forces. He has more courage and honor in my book than a scumbag like you can possibly understand.

I bet you think banning guns will erase gun violence too. Marijuana ha been elligal forever, yet I can walk blocks to 7 eleven and get a bag of marijuana for 10 dollars. All your socialist regulations would do is take every chance of survival away from law abiding citizens when an armed criminal assaults them. If someone broke into my house, I’ll take my 1911 over a tennis racket or pocket knife any day. I’ll take this back when I see the presidential body guards carrying billy clubs and tasers. If he can protect his family with an ar15, so can I. I have a walther p38 that my grandfather aquired from a German officer while serving In ww2. I’ll die before I let the government melt it down and turn it into hair dryers.

This country was founded on the morals of freedom and the right to defend yourself against any threat facing you and your loved ones. With the way things are going, well be communist in a matter of years. I just hope the republicans are up to the task. You’re probably a liberal too, aren’t you. Well, this is how it is; the constitution was created by the founders of this country as final say in all legal matters. You can’t bend those rules. They aren’t open for interpretation. If they were, they wouldn’t have been so clear. As my fellow American stated, we deserve better than you.

    • Sarge says:

Wow dude. Where do you come off or have the right to talk of people who have helped make this country great and kept it free from those who would overthrow our way of life? What have you done to keep us free.
I bet you voted for BO. Boy did you get your change… Looks as thou we are headed in the direction I was raised to fight to keep us from being communists. They alwas said ‘defeat from within’. Look at us now, everyone wants it (anything) for free – don’t want to work for it because they think it’s ‘owed’ to then. For what? they did not do a damn thing to earn it. I bet you are the kind of person that thinks you should get a trophy for just showing up… Sad thing is, people like that vote.

    • Gregory says:

That’s stupid what do you think first purpose of a gun was 250-or so ago hunt food protection next time you need police tell 911 they can leave guns at HQ

  • Oh Boston…amen sir I see you still speak what’s on your mind brother

  • Overhaul says:

While I agree with the basic premise of the letter, I’d also be an idiot to agree with his statements. I take issue with a few points: I’ve been in for 14 years now and I chose to take an oath to obey the laws of the land (it was my choice, I could’ve chosen not to enlist/reenlist) – I’m commanded to do so; I also, simply as an American, need to live by the laws whether I think they’re created by dirtbags or not – otherwise I’m just another criminal – simply living on a higher horse because I’m “right”; and lastly – if Boston was in for 8 years and left as a Cpl – WTH???? If you’re still sitting on your ass as a Cpl with 8 years in you didn’t deserve to be in the Corps anyway. And, yes, I do have an armed household. I’d consider leaving CA or ever returning (if able to transfer) if this took effect; but I took my oath pretty seriously – always will…

    • Nakamura says:

Your Oath was to protect the United States and its Constitution. I took it too. The Constitution is the Law of the Land, period. It is the basis of our great nation. If you have issues with understanding the Constitution, read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers. NO law or order is just, if it defies the COTUS.

      • Lance says:

It would be up to the Supreme Court (established by the Constitution) to determine if any law was constitutional. It is not up to individuals.

As a reminder, there were many opinions among the Founding Fathers, too. They weren’t all of one opinion…

        • 1SG Kelly says:

If no one has found fault with the first ten amendments in over 200 years I don’t see any reason to change any of them.

If the second goes away the first will not be far behind.

    • US Army Vet says:

Actually and E-4 would br promotable to E-5. Rank is tough to get these days.

      • Kamauxx says:

No it isn’t. The only way to serve for 8 years in the Corps without being promoted to Sgt is to have an extremely low composite score because you suck at your job, can’t pt, and can’t shoot, OR to have gotten in trouble on multiple occasions.

Most Cpls pick up Sgt in under 5 years. Plenty do it in under 4. Some do it in under 3.

I’d bet a year of meager Sgt salary that this Marine was involuntarily separated due to being a 8 year Cpl.

All that said I still agree that he shouldn’t have to register his firearms. But living in Cali he should already know bad gun laws are a price he will have to pay for that residence. If he doesn’t like it he should just move to a gun friendly state.

        • CRogers says:

You peace time joining pog, most marines I served with probably did more in 4 years than you have done in 14, and almost none of them even picked up Corporal in 5 years, let alone sergeant. And 8 years in the Corps with out an NJP or two just means you suck a lot of d, or you are just a yes sir, no sir, waste of space.

        • Rocco says:

Wasn’t it Chesty puller who when visiting a base asked to be taken to the brig to meet the real Marines? A lot of extremely good infantry Marines are not awesome barracks Marines. I was promoted to Sgt within 4 years but by no means was I a strictly by the books type of Marine, I just got lucky that I had no njp’s and had great as mentors. I have known plenty of terminal lances who were extraordinary field Marines and great at teaching the boots the right skills to survive and still never picked up rank cause of njp’s or other bullshit. I would still go into battle with them at my side any day.

    • John K. Winters says:

In you oath was the line “and to the Constitution”. The constitution is the supreme law of the land you idiot. The just following orders line didn’t work for the Germans after WWII, you think we’re going to let you get away with it?

    • Jon says:

Th “law of the land” as you put it, includes the 2nd amendment, which will be scuttled if the socialists running this country have it their way. Let’s take away everyones 1st amendment rights and see how many more people buy guns.
For thos opposed to the second amendment, please put a sign in your yard that says “Guns Prohibited – This is a resistance free crime zone”

    • Marion Barry says:

Could have been anything that had him busted from a higher rank. With your attitude we would still be paying tax to Great Britian without representation.

  • What is thg end game says:

Seems to me the destruction of USA is the end game….

I read this letter and all of the comments. I went back and reread the letter. Not once did he say or even insinuate that he was better because he was a soldier. Josh you are full of yourself and a little other stuff too. I hope to God I am standing next to a man with JB’s expertise and heart when the fit hits the shan. Even if we get down to lever action rifles and six guns there will be damage from more than one roof top. sl Marksmanship Instructor 101st Abn. Div. ex City Cop, ex Deputy Sheriff P.S. Thank you for the history lesson about the 56 million who let IT happen. Whoever posted that, thank you.

  • Lavan says:

I didn’t see him complaining about having to register his car, lol.

    What a twit.

  • Steve says:

The gun buyback thing for gift cards were mostly stolen guns. Law abiding people tend to not turn in their weapons for $100 or $200. Plus most of the weapons I saw photos of wouldn’t even register under the lib definition of “assault weapon” meaning “scary” looking guns.

  • Stephen Johnson says:

Lavan, owning and driving a car is a privilege not a right. Owning a weapon is a right given us by the second amendment which is something that our military is supposed to defend against all enemies foreign and domestic.

    • Keith Duke says:

      No sir.
All of the rights enumerated by the Constitution are *natural* rights. Depending on which of the founders you read they are granted by simply being, or by the Creator, or by right of rational thought.
These rights aren’t granted by the Constitution at all – it simply recognizes that they exist, and that these *specific* rights are inalienable in our Republic.

    • Nhurst says:

I think you would agree, owning a weapon is a “birth” right. Article II ensures that right is protected from government.

  • David says:

Well no, more people are killed in car accidents by the way. And also cars are not a right. Given that if a car is used to kill at least 10 kids let alone 20 kids, the story would not be in the news as llong.

    • Marion Barry says:

More people died from lightning strikes than are killed by rifles of any type, much less “assault” stlye rifles. And for the ditractors that talk about murder rates in Canada and Great Britian, next time realize we have 315,000,000+ people, more than those two countries combined x 2

  • An excellent letter written by a model citizen, role model and true patriot. The whole notion of banning certain types of firearms is absurd and impossible. Doomed to fail.

The “War on Poverty” brought us more poverty. The “War on Drugs” brought us more drugs. Our nation is not even capable of securing its’ borders, so how in the world could the government possibly follow through on their proposed draconian legislation?

Shut down the factories, close the dealerships and put 200,000 firearms industry employees out of work and just as sure as the sun rises tomorrow, arms from around the world will pour into the country from around the world. After the 1994 AWB was passed, street gangs suddenly found themselves armed with full auto Warsaw Pact AK-47’s. How did that happen?

Living in California…Central Valley where we have a crime rate comparable to LA’s (per capita & the 5th largest city to boot)…we will not be giving up our guns…things are much different in Fresno,Ca than in LA and San Francisco…we demand our gun rights and will not be following some ass-hat to turn them in for gift cards..what kind of crap is that!!!

  • Rob says:

I never joined the military. Considering the military hasn’t been used to fight for OUR freedom, or even interests, since WWII, I didn’t see the sacrifice being worthwhile. What point to join a force abused so, to die for ambiguous reasons that have nothing at all to do with the intended purpose of our military? I put more value on my life than that. Frankly, we HAVE no enemies among other countries stupid enough to attack us or threaten that freedom. But we have them HERE. The only enemies able to destroy our once-great nation live among us, infest our institutions, write the laws. I WILL fight THEM. I WILL fight for freedom. I WILL fight to save my land from these evil people, who create and use the ignorant to achieve their evil ends. I WILL fight to preserve the vision so many sacrificed everything for, the legacy of freedom for posterity guaranteed me and my progeny. I WILL fight for my country. I WILL die for it. The time is upon us.

  • Allen Runyon says:

Josh Jones if you don’t like America, get out. The constitution says I have the right to own a gun. I will continue to exercise that right. I also will never register any gun that I own with a government that has over stepped what they were elected to do.

  • Billy says:

I’m also a Marine Corps veteran, and I agree 100% with this man, as does most of the people I know.

And yes, guns don’t create safety, they create and means or defense against a tyrannical government, which we have.

I served my country in the U.S. Army I was honor guard an color guard, I volentered for every mission the 1st soildger in the room to do so. I would do it again if called upon or reactivated. I swore an oath to defend my country from all enemies foreign an domestic. When I ets they gave me a copy of the constitution. I would reccomend that all read it because alot of men an women died defending its principles so that you could have inalienable rights we all American citicens enjoy. I would also reccomend that you read the writings of the founding fathers so you could see why the war for idependence was fought. the feds are taking away all those freedoms? Taking away your right to defend you family is just the tip of the iceberg an the continuation to controll the people? does that sound like freedom to you? well that sounds like tryanee just read their own words go to U.S.Patriot.com an see for yourself? Oh an remember we study history so we don’t repeat the grave mistakes of the past. May god save the United States of America. Remember if they take away our right to keep an bear arms we have already lost the war. Then only the goverment an the criminals sorry the line seems blurry between the 2. We all will be slaughtered like the 56 million in history? They should reinstate the draft all should serv an you shouldn’t be able to vote unless you serv in any capacity or hold public office unless you have sacraficed for the good of the country? God bless.

sadly, the farthest this letter will go is Senator Swinestein’s secretary. What? you actually think our “leaders” actually read our letters? shows what you know about our political system!

  • TJ Smith says:

There was a time when oppressive government was not some pie-in-the-sky idea; it was reality. The people who came up with the second amendment suffered under oppressive government. Those people also knew that the constitution and all the amendments were supported by the second amendment. Then why isn’t the second amendment actually called the first amendment? Because the authors knew that talking things out was much better than shooting it out. However, experience taught them that when the time for talking was over it took a man with a gun to get the disagreement settled.

  • Tim says:

Thanks to whoever wrote the comment about the 56 million INDIVIDUALS who were exterminated because of gun control. I want everyone to think for a second…. there are over 130 million gun owners in America. Now that is not counting all the un registered guns that Americans own. That also does not include the criminals who own guns. I think the possibility of someone coming in and taking away 130 million guns from those 130 million Americans is in for a seriously bad day. Think about one other thing. Switzerland has NO army yet when their males turn 18, they ISSUE them an ASSAULT rifle, train them on how to maintain and use them. Plus they conscript them into their militia. Switzerland has the LOWEST CRIME IN THE WORLD. How is that possible when they have assault rifles and all their over 18 males have those said rifles. Amazing isn’t it. Like one other reader said, Red Dawn does come to mind for me too. For Josh Jones and the ignorant babble that came from what we call his mouth, I grew up in a military family. My father, uncles’, aunts’, grandfathers’, and cousins’ all served in one or more branches of the military. All those freedoms you enjoy, like pissing on the flag, spitting in a soldiers face, they provided that for you, Josh Jones. My own dad served over 20 yrs. along with both grandfathers’ in WW2. I have GREAT respect for those men and women who give their lives EACH and EVERY DAY for those freedoms I enjoy, like owning a gun, pissing on those idiots that piss on the flag, etc. This is for that marine, Joshua Boston, Thank you! You are what gives the title to the United States Marines. You are the reason I can sit here and own a gun or voice my opinion about some idiot who doesn’t know his butt from a hole in the ground.

  • Chaplain Chuck says:

I was in the US Marines 1976 to 1980 and the US Army 1980 to 1988. All the firearms I own were passed down to me by older family members. They are not registered to me and I REFUSE to register them so the government may confiscate them later. Some day I plan on passing them down to my grandchildren in perfect working order.
I live in the Mountains of Southern California. Our crime rate is low and I like it that way. I have not been represented by my Senator’s in over 20 years. Perhaps I should also send Dianne a letter?

  • Art Grant says:

I think Joshua Boston articulates far better than me the relevant issue.

The people who created this country put safeguards in place; asinine control freaks who think they ought to dictate to others what they can and cannot own to protect themselves are being far more controlling of others than the legal gun owners are. The gun owners know they cannot control the world, only seek to control themselves, and have taken legal measures to protect themselves against the criminal element which will always exist.

What we need to do is become more like Israel, where all citizens have served in the military, and out of that experience possesses the knowledge that no weapon is inherently of itself evil, and good people must stand against the imperfection in the world. Those who do not have the balls to serve their country, who have no personal experience with such things, have the misconception that it is the weapon that is evil, because from their limited viewpoint they see the weapon as empowering the terrorist/criminal, because they never had the balls to stand up and protect themselves and others against the darkness. Those who have served know evil as being those who wish to control others through fear and intimidation. We call these people terrorists/criminals/tyrants. not unlike those who wish to disarm America, such as the Chinese:
    http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/12/china-calls-for-no-delay-in-gun-control-in-us/

Even the Russians, from their own experience, are warning the people in the United States not to disarm…

If Cpl. Boston is in the reserves (which is unclear at present), he should be prosecuted for violations of UCMJ Art. 134. He has discredited the service by his conduct, including using his military credentials in disrespect of the elected official and in threatening to violate the law.

  • John Johnston says:

Personlly, I thnk that Mr. Boston has put into writting what many many real Americans think and belive. And put very well to boot. What we need is less gun control and more crazy control. We have been losing our rights little by little for about 40 years now. It is a slow process, they take a piece here and another there util we are where we are at today. In danger of losing out second amendement rights. The only thing that I can add is that the 2nd has nothing to do with hunting or sporting but is completely about our being protected from threats both foreign AND domestic. Like many others, I love my country but distrust my government and fear for our future. People say that there is no way that there can be another civil war. Look at it like this. Revolutionary war for our independence was 1776. We won because we were armed. Civil war comes along in 1861. That is only 85 years later. Now fast forward to today, the year is 2013. That is only 152 years later. Could it be that we are just living on borrowed time?

  • DWhite says:

Yes it is more than just taking guns. The U.N. Agenda 21 was adopted by Bush 1992 Rio U.N. Convention. It calls for depopulation of the planet. 150 countries signed on. But it doesn’t supercede the Constitution. Yeah they sold us out. Each president since then praise New World Order. They are the evil most wealthy people, bankers, and marxist in the world. First your rights, your guns, they take ownership of your property, and cattle who they don’t kill of into rooms downtown and declare 50% of the world is wilderness project. and tax us for our footprints and any gas we use into pollution which is a hoax.

  • EButler says:

Sadly schools don’t teach history with truth. WWII, our troops were spread throughout the world, leaving few back here in the states. When Pearl Harbor got hit by the Japanese we fully expected they would come and continue their invasion in the US, because there wasn’t any real military here to resist. We even installed batteries around the west coast fully expecting an invasion. Why not? No strong military left in the US. So what prevented them? Because we the people are the strongest army in the world. The Japanese noted that registered hunters in two states alone was larger then any other army in the world. Multiplied by 46 other states they Japanese didn’t feel it could withstand the losses it would have by any such invasion. If the gun control went as some would want, then that would end that problem and our nation would be weak and unable to defend this country. Is this fiction? I would hope so, but it’s more real then the gun grabbers have a clue about. If we ban guns then we need to ban all items of destruction like cars/trucks/rocks/baseball bats/ knives and gasoline. For more people have been killed by a maniac using one of those then guns. Gun bans are just a tool a politician to use to make a name for him/her self into their sick career. Though all legal guns have been check via background checks, and other means, only lame states that demand registration of the guns do it not for YOU the peopole but for them “Government” to enact a confiscation program that is in the future if things don’t change.
