Why The Bud Light Transgender Backlash Matters

Why is the backlash against Bud Light so important? What is so bad about Dylan Mulvaney, transgenders, or drag queen shows?

Those are among the many questions asked since the Bud Light controversy started. To recap, it was discovered that Dylan Mulvaney, a campy actor by his own admissions, was hired by Bud Light to shill for the brand in whichever way he wanted to. Which included a very cringy scene in a bathtub filled with bubbles.

Supposedly, this marketing push was to move Bud Light away from its frat boy image and attract new more “hip” customers. The problem is, Alissa Heinerscheid, Bud Light’s marketing director, completely ignored the entirety of the company’s customer base in favor of a campy transgender person. Bud Light’s customer base is farmers, ranchers, construction, sports fanatics, and people who just want to have a good time and drink cheap beer.

Customers were not amused by Bud Light’s move, and the backlash commenced immediately. What did Bud Light and Anheuser Busch do in response? They went radio silent for two weeks, and then AB issued a statement that glossed over everything in an effort to make everything go away. After that Bud Light stuck their toe in the water with a tweet that was incredibly tone deaf.

Bud Light’s market share dropped like a rock.

Beer Business Daily reported Sunday that Bud LIght’s off-premise sales volume–the amount of beer sold outside of restaurants and bars–was down 26.1% from a year earlier in the week ended April 22, based on scan data. Volumes were down 21.1% in the prior week, while so far this year, Bud Light volumes are down 8%.

The figures include sales at grocery stores, convenience stores, and liquor stores.

Overall, the market share for Bud Light is down nearly 30%. That’s a big hit. So what does Anheuser Busch do? Run an ad that accomplished nothing, and then Bud Light quietly snuck in an ad during the NFL draft.

Now I wonder why they disabled the comments on the video??

As of Monday, the clip generated more than 26 million views, but just 272 likes. Notably, the comments section under the YouTube clip was turned off.

Meanwhile, Bud Light continued to face heat on Twitter for the deal with Mulvaney, a transgender influencer with 10 million followers on social media.

“A commercial that shows cowboys & cowgirls at a rodeo where it’s started to pour down rain while the Zac Brown Band plays ‘Chicken Fried’ is Bud Light’s latest commercial. Real smart, piss off that demographic, then cynically try to lure them back with this. Don’t fall for it,” one Twitter user wrote.

Why does this matter? Because it isn’t just about drinking beer. It is about this push to mainstream and normalize transgenders. It is important because vulnerable kids are being targeted with gender-affirming care that leaves parents out of the equation. Oregon is a prime example.

California and others, including my state – Colorado, are also pushing this for kids and wanting parents shoved to the side. To the point of going as far as advocating for the criminal who purposefully exposes himself to a child, instead of protecting the child.

Let the child suffer so the criminal can be coddled. That is why this backlash matters! Here’s another reason. The books in the libraries. Not wanting incredibly sexually explicit books in a school library means conservatives want to ban all the things. No, we just don’t want them IN the school library.

Yes, it sure seems that Chelsea Clinton is in favor of keeping books like this on the school shelves. Again, why does this matter? Because the argument in favor of this is, ‘if you don’t like those books, don’t read them.’ Yet, by putting them in elementary, middle, and high school libraries, tacit approval of the content is given.

Why does this matter? Because this push is also permeating our military.

Recruitment is way down. It’s cratering across most of the military. Yet THIS is what the Navy comes up with for recruitment??!! Oh, and it isn’t just the Navy, it is all branches of service that are doing this. Battle ready we will NOT be for the future.

Again, why is this backlash important? Because what Bud Light and other companies are doing goes against the values of the majority of Americans. It’s also part of a push that now has elected officials normalizing the transgender ideology no matter how harmful it is for our kids, the families, or even adults.

In Missouri there’s a bill going through the legislator that would have any child who expresses the desire to transition to undergo counseling (15 hours over 18 months) before ultimately making the decision to go forward with puberty blockers or surgery or both. A judge just shot that down. Taking the TIME to make sure that child is truly wanting to or cognizant of how irreversible the surgeries and therapies are is evidently BAD.

That is why this Bud Light backlash matters. It is about protecting children. It’s about pushing back against an ideology that poses physical and mental dangers, much of which are long-term, that are incredibly damaging.

Bud Light and Anheuser Busch, by their silence and lack of even TRYING to defend their actions, have now shown that their decades-long customer base is no longer important to them. Their compass is broken.

It’s more than about protecting children. It’s about protecting a truly free and open society against the tyranny of the irrational and destructive ‘progressive’ Left.

Cory Bernardi an Australian commentator and a past conservative politician recently wrote an article called “The Fear Society”.

Referencing Indiana Councilman Ryan Webb who has “identified as a ‘lesbian woman of colour’ and in doing so has outraged the alphabet mafia, who are clearly annoyed that the Councilman is neither a woman, a lesbian or black” Bernardi continues: “Now I happen to think Mr. Webb is having a joke at the leftist’s expense but why are his claims any more fantastical than the myriad other identification claims that woke warriors support? Every one of them is asking us to suspend logic, reason and commonsense in order to accept something we know is simply not true.

Of course if you don’t willingly go along with the falsehoods you could be arrested for participating in a ‘hate crime’. … Activists will assault those they disagree with. Businesses are looted and boycotted unless they comply with the zeitgeist. Politicians are sued for sharing their opinion on other’s behaviour.

Welcome to the Western Soviet Society of 2023.”

“This is tyranny by the woke mob and it is being aided and abetted by the media and legislators [and weak corporate managers]. The means of fighting back is refusing to comply with the demands. We must use language as it was intended and apply it to males and females. We must conform to the science of biology. We must uphold empirical truths. To do anything else is to support the regime that seeks to suppress us.”

“If enough of us refuse to be a cog in the wheel of wokeness, our non-compliance becomes sand in the gears and if there is enough of it, the entire momentum of the left will grind to a halt.”

So says Cory Bernardi and I agree with him and your article that this perverse idiocy of identity politics in the private, public and governmental spheres must be curtailed, or we the majority will be forced to kowtow to avaricious and nasty fools like Mr. Mulvaney pushing grotesque theories and practices of sexual deviance into every part of our lives. So, Bud Lite and its parent company represents a test case of massive importance for all Western societies, though I doubt that woke politicians and the arrogant media understand it – yet. The boycott must be pursued, and similar ‘woke’ companies also targeted.

      Thank you NTSOG!

I’ll have to look up Cory Bernardi. Excellent points from him on this.

This is the best article I have read about the importance of the Bud Lite boycott/backlash. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I’m so glad hotair.com found you. Here’s a little infomercial (LOL) I put together for Bud Lite. I’m not that great in front of the camera, however; I mention many important facts about this whole “T” thing. I hope you enjoy it.

There’s limited space in any school library. I would think that would mean that there’s no room for the book, This Book is Gay, or the book, The Lawn Boy. Certainly parents who want their kids reading such books can get them for their kids on Amazon.

This article is getting linked to by some of the more prominent “conservative websites” out there. It’s a good post especially in its emphasis on the attempts being made to normalize this sort of deviancy. Case in point, just in this past week, a transgender state representative in Minnesota named Leigh Finke attempted to backdoor an amendment into an omnibus bill stripping statutory language which specifically excluded pedophiles from being granted discriminatory protections. In other words, he was trying to protect pedophiles from being “discriminated” against. Of course when it was discovered, hell broke loose, Finke unsurprisingly claimed himself to be a “victim” of it all and House Democrats were forced into supporting a Republican amendment confirming that pedophilia is not a protected form of sexual orientation. Which just goes to prove that Democrats still perceive this garbage as a non-winner for themselves.

And yet Minnesota Democrats did pass a law making the state a “trans refuge” sanctuary. Today, the Minnesota-based Alpha News is currently featuring an article entitled, “‘Proud of Minnesota’: Children’s hospital endorses ‘trans refuge’ legislation,” highlighting a couple of (Democrat-donating) pediatricians who endorsed the bill. The article notes that one of the pediatricians is on public record insisting that “children as young as three can know they are transgender” contending:

“It shouldn’t surprise you then that some transgender kids are claiming their identities as young as three and four years old. They know the categories. They know how they should feel inside based on their anatomy, and they also know the way that they see themselves doesn’t line up with other people’s expectations,” Goepferd said in the TED Talk. “From as young as some kids can talk, they’re explaining to their parents the truth about their identities.”

Again, this is a licensed pediatrician saying that as soon as some kids learn to talk they’re expressing to their parents anatomical-related preferences about their own bodies. Well, I did a deep dive of Dr. Angela Kade Goepferd and ascertained that she is an unmarried lesbian with no children of her own. (Why she uses the name ‘Kade’ — which is not reflected in any state agency data base — when she’s never been married and her family has no connections to that surname is bewildering. She more than likely thinks it just sounds cool so she goes with it.)

This is the kind of lunacy we’re dealing with, and it needs to be stopped. DeSantis is the only potential candidate to take this issue on; and therefore, he will be getting my support. And since his position on this overlaps with the views of a Chardonnay-swilling elitist like JK Rowling, one can only conclude exposing these freaks is a political winner across all varieties of demographics.

The more these miscreants want to normalize this behavior, the more effort we need to exert in demonizing them for it. They are evil and deserve to be branded accordingly. It’s just that simple.

You’ll find, Nina, that Bernardi was a Liberal Senator. In Australia this means Liberal in the original classical sense, so a Conservative or Libertarian elsewhere. It gets confusing sometimes!

  • Cameron says:

They pushed too hard and went too far. We were quite happy to let them live their lives but they went after kids. A lot of companies would be better off hiring a five year old to point out when something is stupid.

Remember the adage, “if something is free, you’re not the customer, you are the product”?
Now every customer is also a product. I pay to see a movie and for wanted to be entertained I’m subjected to an abusive political polemic (you nazi! racist! bigot! sexist! pick any two…or all)
Commercials are the same style of bromide….buy from us you bigot!!
It’s nuts. With so many massive publicly traded corporate conglomates it is hard to boycott anything entirely (so many things are tangentially related). But I’ll boycott Bud, and will never buy another Gillette razor.
(it’s a shame because I used to like annheiser-busch as a company, viewed them as military friendly).

As a former AB employee, and a beer industry guy, I hate seeing an iconic American brand destroyed, but they did this to themselves. There’s a reason I left, and it’s because this culture permeates everything internally, and has for years.

But Bud Light sales have been declining for a decade, so to make this stick, and create true change, we’ve got to hurt more than just Budweiser brands. Mich Ultra is finally taking a hit, and that’s huge to make the change. But so is their “Beyond Beer” category that drives most of their sales dollar growth. Nutrl and Cutwater need to crash, too, so that they can’t make up the dollars through their specialty brands.

Budweiser itself doesn’t really matter, as they wrote off that brand internally years ago within the country. Bud Light (the biggest beer in the US), Mich Ultra (fastest growing Large brand), Nutrl vodka soda (still up triple digits, and high margins for them), Cutwater (largest cocktail brand), and then Golden Road and Elysian (their top 2 craft brands). Boycotting those 6 key brand families will destroy their bottom line. I still won’t expect any change until we can damage them enough to possibly sell AB out from under the Inbev group that destroyed them but that’s the key to making it happen.

  • Ralph Gizzip says:

I’m just surprised that Bud Light sales are only off by 30%. I would have thought it would have been more like 70% or 80% considering their demographic.
I guess it just proves that Bud Lights’ market wasn’t as “fratty” as Ms. Heinerscheid thought.

  • Bengoshi says:

And every MSM article reporting this falsely uses headlines like “Far Right backlash against Bud Light”. I don’t have one in front of me, but Forbes (Capitalist Tool?) has a headline like that as do so many others. But it’s not “far right” it’s ordinary moderate people who are retching at what these see and finally fighting back.

  • Reader says:

And to think that I just assumed Anheuser Busch just wanted to go after their target market for Bud Light, those who already liked the taste of piss.

    • NTSOG says:

We conservatives should be grateful to Alissa Heinerscheid – she of Bud Lite fame – as her declaration during her famous interview told us openly and honestly what she and her fellow ‘superiors’ think of common working people. Her distaste, disdain and dislike for us was obvious. She displayed her open contempt. The trans creep is offensive enough, but Heinersheid’s attitude towards us [Hilary’s ‘deplorables’] was palpable. She was actually stupid and arrogant enough to lay her ‘elite’ [corporate] cards on the table for all of us to see. Now she’s likely going to be a marked woman [in corporate employment terms] for the rest of her life and those in the corporate world for whom she spoke have lost face and our trust and our money.

  • Ellen says:

Budweiser started going down the drain when they decided to make a “light” beer. Their job is to make good beer, not to make social statements.
