The last few days have seen rallies in Miami with crowds screaming “Libertad” in support of the Cuban people. Yesterday, there was a rally in Tampa with the crowds chanting, “Where is Biden?”. As I watched the reporting this morning, my first reaction was, “Joe was in Philadelphia talking about voter suppression and the Civil War.

The Cuban people have government literacy and healthcare, but that system is collapsing of it’s own necrotizing weight. Cubans took to the streets to protest their lack of Covid vaccines and other problems. In solidarity, the Cuban diaspora in Miami took to the streets shouting “libertad”. Joe had issued a rather tepid statement earlier. But that wasn’t good enough for the Tampa rally folks and they wondered, “Where is Biden?”. Joe was in Philadelphia mumbling about voter suppression, Jim Crow and the Civil War.

In his Philly speech, which was chock-a-block with outright lies, Joe mentioned the Civil War in a historical context once and then said the January 6 riot was the “most significant test of our Democracy since the Civil War” and then he repeated it for effect:

The assault on free and fair elections is just such a threat, literally. I’ve said it before: We’re are facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. That’s not hyperbole. Since the Civil War. The Confederates back then never breached the Capitol as insurrectionists did on January the 6th.

That’s just not hyperbole; that’s malignant hyperbole. The Civil War lasted four years and cost the lives of over 624,000 people. January 6 lasted a couple of hours, mostly people wandering around, and only one life was lost. Who killed Ashli Babbitt? Was the 2018 Women’s March where 600 people were arrested akin to an attack on Democracy?

Almost every line in the Joe’s speech was filled with venomous attacks on Republicans:

So hear me clearly: There is an unfolding assault taking place in America today — an attempt to suppress and subvert the right to vote in fair and free elections, an assault on democracy, an assault on liberty, an assault on who we are — who we are as Americans.

For, make no mistake, bullies and merchants of fear and peddlers of lies are threatening the very foundation of our country.

It gives me no pleasure to say this. I never thought in my entire career I’d ever have to say it. But I swore an oath to you, to God — to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. And that’s an oath that forms a sacred trust to defend America against all threats both foreign and domestic. (Applause.)

Republican lawmakers, Governors, Attorneys General and Judges are “bullies and merchants of fear and peddlers of lies” in Joe World. We never believed the Mr. Unity stuff, but this is the very “othering” and “dehumanizing” that the Wokerati decry.

Joe Biden was just repeating the claim he made back in April:

As I stand here tonight — just one day shy of the 100th day of my administration.

100 days since I took the oath of office, lifted my hand off our family Bible, and inherited a nation in crisis.

The worst pandemic in a century.

The worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

The worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.

Now, after just 100 days, I can report to the nation: America is on the move again.

Hmmm. What is his goal?

Dementia Joe’s handlers are trying to divide us like Obama, but in a galactic fashion. I have my suspicions why, but I don’t want to give voice to my fears. Giving voice to my fears means that things are going to get far far worse. We will know for sure in the run up to 2022. I believe in this Republic and I know most people do. Keep your head on swivel.
