This video purports to show the moment of release of Bowe Bergdahl to U.S. personnel who arrived by helicopter, shook a few hands, and whisked the AWOL soldier away over the dusty hills of the surrounding hostile territory.
We have written a lot here on Victory Girls about these developments in the last few days. Much remains to be seen as this mysterious man is returned to the United States and, hopefully, the truth as to what happened with him is sought in earnest.
What struck me as I watched this video is that the men aboard that helicopter risked their lives to fly into that hostile territory, not knowing if there was an ambush set up or if they themselves would make it out alive. I have the utmost admiration for all of those who serve in our military. But watching this video of the brave men who effectuated this rescue brought tears to my eyes.If you did not catch the details, watch again and note these scenes:
I hope their families and loved ones know that these rescuers did our country proud in carrying out these risky orders. May God bless all of them! And may Bergdahl get the justice that we deserve.
Fantastic post, Donna. These photos are incredible. Once again, our troops placed themselves in harm’s way for this *insert noun.*
On a side note: Too bad he didn’t *accidentally* fall out the open door following liftoff.
I had the exact same thought (wish) about Bergdahl “accidentally” falling out!
The “protective arm” and the pause at the helicopter were pat-downs to make sure he wasn’t wearing explosives.
I just watched the full 17 minute video out out by the Taliban as a propaganda piece. Indeed, the pat-down was a hurried affair, and they flew right into the midst of rocket-propelled grenades and other heavy artillery. Some are questioning why the Special Forces were seemingly sloppy in how they handled this. It’s hard to say what they SHOULD have done since the President ordered them to go in and get the man…. Still very fishy stuff to be looked into.
