Any guesses where Nancy Pelosi and some of her other D.C. Dem cohorts are today? Following their 10-day vacation, are they back in D.C. working hard on behalf of American citizens? Nope. They’re in Madrid—at taxpayer expense, and deposited there by a fossil-fueled jet—to discuss, among other things, how to prod more people into combating global warming, er…climate change at yet another United Nations Conference; this time the COP 25.
Yes. Climate change. The issue that rates far below just about every other voter concern as we head into the 2020 elections.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to assure nations at the U.N. conference in Madrid today that the U.S. would join its efforts to fight climate change despite President Donald Trump’s move to pull the U.S. out the Paris agreement.”
“‘By coming here we want to say to everyone, we’re still in,’ Pelosi said at a press conference in Madrid. “The United States is still in.'”
Who wants to tell Queen Nance that she has no power to make any foreign policy on behalf of the United States?
And what exactly are our betters discussing at this U.N.-lead Climate Cult powwow? Well, if a litany of recent social media posts from the usual suspects is any indication, they’re working on terrifying us all into submission:
Speaking before the start Monday of a two-week international climate conference in Madrid, the U.N. chief [Antonio Guterres] said the impact of rising temperatures — including more extreme weather — is already being felt around the world, with dramatic consequences for humans and other species.”
“He noted that the world has the scientific knowledge and the technical means to limit global warming, but ‘what is lacking is political will.’”
“‘The point of no return is no longer over the horizon,’ Guterres told reporters in the Spanish capital.” “‘It is in sight and hurtling toward us.’”
We’re all gonna die. Yada yada yada. Someone alert Al Gore.
And in case that’s not obnoxious enough, this next paragraph betrays the true intent of the United Nations: wealth redistribution.
Delegates from almost 200 countries will try to put the finishing touches on the rules governing the 2015 Paris climate accord at the Dec. 2-13 meeting, including how to create functioning international emissions trading systems and compensate poor countries for losses they suffer from rising sea levels and other consequences of climate change.” [emphasis added]
Remember: the Paris Accord that then-President Obama tried to saddle us with—the same one President Trump extracted us from—was a huge taxation/wealth redistribution scheme that let the two biggest polluters off the hook.
So never mind that not a one of them is willing to seriously take on either China or India, the two largest polluters on the planet, China being the country to which many kowtow for economic and personal gain (see here, here, and here). And we should just ignore the ties of so many on the left—including Pelosi’s son?—to the evil, planet-killing energy industry, more specifically Ukraine (Oh! Could that be part of what this whole impeachment hoax is designed to distract us from, Schiff and Pelosi? Hmm?)
Yes, ignore all of that and hand over all your freedoms, and your cash, to the altruistic left and their globalist counterparts at the U.N., those knights-in-shining-armor who’ll save us all from a changing climate like Superman single-handedly halting a speeding train. And if you don’t “believe in climate change” (in the same way one believes in, say, God) you’re a Climate Denier! in need of a hard-core re-education camp, comrade (again: see China).
Let's be very clear: Anyone who denies climate change at this point is either willfully ignorant or complicit in protecting fossil fuel profits over the safety and security of our children and grandchildren. #COP25

Let’s be clear: see what I mean?
Look at the data. The massive jump tracks the emergence of Chinese economy. Cutting numbers here without dealing with China and India is simply not going to work.

Exactly.
Never mind the sheer arrogance, and delusion, of believing that somehow humanity can stop the Earth’s climate from changing (if we just hand over more of our money, and our natural-born rights, to those who’ve already proven they can’t be trusted with either).
And who wants to remind these purveyors of doom that the planet has been far warmer, and far fuller of that disastrous CO2 than it is today (Shh! Don’t tell them that the Earth’s vegetation depends on it for, you know, life; we don’t want to burst their We’re the Science Warriors bubble). Not to mention that some scientists are looking at alternative explanations for the Earth’s warming and cooling periods (and hint: it’s not something any of us can control).
Practically speaking: are there things we can all do to make our planet cleaner and safer? Sure. And even if you buy into the premise that man is causing climate change (I happen to reject it like a bad case of the shingles), are there rational, proactive steps we can take to either halt or reduce it? Yes. There’s a great article here from a man of the left who lays out realistic, and honest, approaches to combating climate change…that is, if that were actually the left’s goal.
Which it’s not.
Make no mistake: the left, hand in hand with radical Muslims like the Bernie Sanders-endorsing Linda Sarsour, Ilhan “Not Her Real Name” Omar, the Hamas-front that is CAIR, and a legion of clueless feminists like this one whose collectivist, anti-capitalism language is dripping in Marxism…
We are challenging the very conditions which we know are fundamental drivers of the climate crisis – systems that prioritise profit over people and elites over majority. #COP25 #FeministsWantSystemChange @SCAC_Chile pic.twitter.com/8h9yuRvUV2

…have weaponized climate change. And they’re using it to bludgeon us all into submission. But, despite their protestations, their actual goal has zilch to do with climate change; their true objective is to attain one thing and one thing only: power and control, and they’re utilizing an army of useful idiots to achieve it. It’s clear as a bell for those who want to see it: radical Islamists, and the feminists and other leftists who embrace them, are experts at playing the victim and using political correctness and straw man arguments against those of us who are easily shamed into silence. And for the most part, it’s working.
So it’s time we all stop buying their snake oil (Green New Deal ring a bell?) and reject their siren songs of “climate collapse,” “scorched earth,” and “climate chaos,” the left’s newest mechanism to achieve the global socialism they insist will save us all. Using incendiary language—and child exploitation—is what the desperate do when they’re trying to convince others to fork over their power for the false promise of salvation. It’s the argument every authoritarian tyrant throughout history has used to seize and retain power. And we should reject it with extreme prejudice.
Should we do everything within our ability to make our earthly home as clean as possible? Absolutely. But what we should never do is hand over our freedoms and our hard-earned tax dollars to a lie, one that’s being spread by global forces who have America’s eventual decline in their cross-hairs. For as we’re seeing throughout the globe, once liberty is surrendered, it’s nearly impossible to regain.
Meanwhile, Dr. Will Happer, former science advisor to President Donald Trump, is spearheading a lineup of climate experts who’ll rebut the U.N.’s COP 25 climate change group-think. You can view it, via the linked video above, starting at 7:00 am ET today. It will likely be worth your time.
Welcome Instapundit readers!
Robert Reich is projecting. The computer models are bunk and he knows it. That means he is a dishonest con, no better than a snake oil salesman, and should literally run out of town on a rail.
The United States is still in.
Ummm, I think that’s a violation of the Logan Act.
And when did this money get authorized? I’d like to see the appropriations measure and who voted for it in both houses.
The point of no return .. is in sight and hurtling toward us.
They say the point demons guard is an ocean grave, for all the brave.
(and hint: it’s not something any of us can control)
Pfaw. You’re just saying that because no one has ever successfully controlled the sun (that we know of).
their true objective is to attain one thing and one thing only: power and control
Wait… Their true objective is TWO things: power, control and vanity. Three, THREE things are their true objective…
(You pulled a Python 😉 )
Should we do everything within our ability to make our earthly home as clean as possible?
And with actual science, you will also realize how small of an impact we actually have on gigantic systems like “climate”. Yes, we should clean up after ourselves. But get that the earth will survive (barring God’s final judgment). Even if we nuked all the people off the planet and scoured it with radiation and heat, life would come right on back.
“(Shh! Don’t tell them that the Earth’s vegetation depends on it for, you know, life; … ” is a very important point. The increase in CO2 in the atmosphere over the past 200 years has made agriculture more efficient, enabling farmers to produce more produce without more work, fertilizers, etc. Even the low estimate of a 5% overall increase due to higher CO2 is worth the equivalent of $500 billion a year in food and other agricultural products. Thousands of research studies on this point are documented here: http://co2science.org/ and commercial greenhouses routinely add CO2 to the air to improve product quality and quantity.
If they were really serious the whole conference would be about nothing else other than how to implement nuclear power throughout the world, and particularly in China and India.
Al Gore said back in January 2006, while presenting his “Inconvenient Truth” film at the Sundance Film Festival:
“unless drastic measures to reduce greenhouse gases are taken within the next 10
years, the world will reach a point of no return.”
Ten years later, 2016, has come and gone, so we are past the point of no return.
Expending effort after passing the point of no return is futile and pointless.
As Otter declares in Animal House (1978):
“No, in this case, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation
absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done.”
And Bluto replies: “And we’re just the guys to do it.”
Putting billions of dollars into a futile and pointless gesture after it is too late to save the planet makes no sense to me.
And at the end of the Animal House movie, we see what happened to each character.
The future for Bluto was :”Senator John Blutarsky, Washington D.C.”
