In order to gain the role of Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy promised to release 41,000 hours of the January 6 videos. Some of us, unrealistically, wanted all the tapes released the minute Hakeem Jeffries handed McCarthy the gavel. We were angry and impatient after watching the abortion of the January 6 Committee under Nancy Pelosi. By now, you all know that McCarthy has given exclusive access to the J6 videos to Tucker Carlson of Fox News. Unless you saw the top of Carlson’s show you may not know that his producers are going through the tapes and Tucker will begin airing selections next week.
If for some reason you didn’t know that Tucker Carlson got access to the videos, here is BizPacReview on the job:
Twitter is on fire following word that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) may be breaking his promise to release 14,000 hours of video footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol building.
The fury began with a tweet from controversial independent journalist Laura Loomer — who may have missed a report that the GOP leader was giving Fox News host Tucker Carlson “exclusive access” to the footage.
“I’ve been told @SpeakerMcCarthy isn’t planning to release all of the J6 footage like he promised,” she wrote. “He told members of Congress that it’s a ‘national security risk’ to release the raw footage. J6 defendants who want it have to ask their rep to issue a written request on their behalf.”
Not a big fan of Laura Loomer. But, Catturd (big fan) weighed in before the announcement of Tucker’s exclusive role:
In an exclusive report citing McCarthy sources, Axios reported on Monday that the Speaker handed over 41,000 hours of Capitol surveillance footage from Jan. 6 to none other than Fox News’s Tucker Carlson.
“The process with Carlson started in early February, according to a communication between the show and a McCarthy representative that I was shown,” Axios author Mike Allen reports.
If accurate, there are going to be a whole lot of people eating crow in Elon Musk’s birdhouse, starting with the popular Twitter account, Catturd, who declared on Sunday, “I warned you about Kevin McCarthy.”
We were all quite unrealistic. Carlson said:
“[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret,” Carlson told Allen. “If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”
Amen. And, then there is Jamie Raskin, who still thinks Al Gore won the 2000 election. It’s been 23 years, my dude. Maybe Raskin thinks he could have been a contender in a Gore Administration. He thinks the J6 videos could be a roadmap to a 2024 INSURRECTION:
McCarthy giving 40,000 hrs of Jan. 6 tape to a pro-Putin journalist is an astounding ethical collapse. What security precautions were taken to keep this from becoming a roadmap for 2024 insurrection? Why isn’t it available to all media & public? Smell the MAGA propaganda coming.

And, last night he and Joyless Reid commiserated in their anger:
.@RepRaskin on Kevin McCarthy giving Jan. 6 surveillance footage to Tucker Carlson:
"Tucker Carlson is a pro-Putin, pro-Orbán, pro-autocrat propagandist."#TheReidOut pic.twitter.com/3BQFDzYKAB

Is it wrong to give it out or should Kevin McCarthy should have given it to more networks. And, Jamie Raskin should know about cherry-picking. Leland Vitert of News Nation was very jealous when he disussed Tucker Carlson getting the J6 videos.
Tucker Carlson is not an honest broker? Leland come on. Of course, Adam Schiff is unhappy:
“The audacity of Schiff to accuse others of spreading big lies. Heck, even CNN recently called him out as a liar.”
Adam Schiff NOT happy Kevin McCarthy gave all J6 footage to lying propagandist Tucker Carlson – https://t.co/ZtVNZCna4K https://t.co/ThBg7mRcO0

We, the People, just want to know who attacked the cops, who egged the crowds on (Ray Epps and others), who pooped in the Capitol? If Tucker Carlson can answer those questions then good on him. We DEMAND to eventually have all 41,000 hours released to all of us.

The only reason I can see Tucker dragging this out for another week would be waiting for the legal team to tell him what he can and cannot show.
No, mostly to find what is showable (although it will be run by the Fox legal department, too).
41,000 hours – if you were to sit down today, never sleep, take no bathroom breaks – you would be watching this until well after the next MIDTERM elections. (~4.7 years).
More than 90% of it will be video of people just milling around, doing nothing even vaguely interesting, that could have been taken anywhere. Huge job to run through to find something on which to hang an actual news piece. They’ll still miss a lot of things, too – hopefully, it will be archived somewhere that anyone can access.
