Trump Offers Guthrie Family Help During Their Worst Nightmare

“Today Show” anchor Savannah Guthrie and her family are living through one of the most horrific experiences a family can have. Their beloved mother, Nancy, is missing, presumed the victim of kidnapping, and even the help being directed by President Trump may not bring about a happy ending.

Nancy Guthrie, age 84 and in fragile health, disappeared from her Arizona home between last Saturday evening and Sunday morning. The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, has called this “foul play” and Nancy Guthrie the victim of a crime.

On Feb. 2, Nanos stated that he believes a crime was committed regarding the 84-year-old’s disappearance. He said investigators believe Nancy Guthrie may have been taken from her home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. He said details are pointing towards a possible kidnapping or abduction.

News 4 Tucson asked Sheriff Nanos what at the crime scene indicated this is a kidnapping. Nanos said there was DNA evidence at the scene that investigators will be analyzing.

Nanos was also asked if he believes Guthrie was targeted. Nanos said he’s worked with the family closely, including Savannah and her security team. Nanos said they’ve discussed any possible threats/stalking issues.

“Nothing that we see is leading us that way, but we’ll never dismiss anything. we’ll continue to look at everything, and we’ll just keep moving forward with it.”

The investigation changed abruptly when purported ransom notes were sent. The FBI has confirmed that some of these notes have been written by sickos looking for attention.

One letter sent to Guthrie was from a nutcase who said he had knowledge of the abduction — but also included a slew of slurs. The writer also made reference to accused murderer Luigi Mangione and the Jan. 6 US Capitol riot, according to law enforcement sources.

And that’s just one of numerous letters that have been emerging since Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, disappeared from her Tucson home Saturday night.

Federal forensics specialists are helping to analyze the purported ransom letters and follow tips outside Tucson, while the bureau has been poring over cellular tower data to see who passed through Nancy’s neighborhood on and around the night she vanished.

Warrants to search Nancy’s digital accounts — which could help track her movements — are also being expedited by the FBI, while its agents have been deployed to circumvent Arizona jurisdictional restrictions and follow up in-person leads, sources said.

However, one letter, which was sent to a local news station, apparently contained details specific enough to Nancy Guthrie that the FBI is taking it seriously. On Wednesday evening, the Guthrie siblings put out a video on social media, asking for proof of life from their mother. The video is absolutely heartbreaking.

Savannah Guthrie opened the family’s plea by thanking supporters for their prayers before describing her mother as the heart of their family and making a direct appeal for contact, stressing Nancy Guthrie’s fragile health and urgent need for medication.

“Our mom is a kind, faithful, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light,” Savannah Guthrie said. “She’s funny, spunky. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to her and you’ll see.”

“Our mom is our heart and our home. Her health, her heart is fragile,” she continued. “She is without any medicine. She needs it to survive. She needs not to suffer. We, too, have heard the reports about a ransom letter in the media. As a family, we are doing everything that we can.

“We are ready to talk. However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated,” she added. “We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.”

On Tuesday, the official White House X account had posted about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, asking people to call 911 if they had information. On Wednesday, President Trump called Savannah Guthrie, and he later posted on Truth Social that evening that he was offering the federal government’s assistance.

Axios is reporting that FBI Director Kash Patel is headed to Tucson, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that CBP is assisting in the search, since Tucson is near the southern border.

Obviously, Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance and probable abduction deserves the attention of law enforcement, and the FBI is often involved in abduction cases even when state lines are not crossed, though those cases primarily involve children. And yes, Nancy Guthrie is getting this level of investigative attention because of who her daughter is, and because this does appear to be a crime, coupled with the ransom note or notes that have been sent. We are far past the age of the “missing person” poster – we now live in the age of the Amber Alert and social media. We all know President Trump is terminally online, so for him to comment on a case like this, involving someone well-known in the media, is hardly surprising. What is a mark of decency and kindness (something which Donald Trump sometimes lacks when it comes to his own ego and opinions) is his extention of federal law enforcement to help. Savannah Guthrie may be famous, but this situation is a family’s worst nightmare. That President Trump can offer help is probably of some comfort to the Guthries at this moment, but until they know what happened to Nancy, their horror and anguish is unimaginable.

We here at Victory Girls are hoping and praying that law enforcement is able to crack the case, that Nancy Guthrie is returned safely to her family, and the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.
