Let’s get the ugly truth out of the way. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan is a disgusting anti-Semite.
So naturally, Tlaib isn’t going to recognize the anniversary of Israel’s 75th anniversary of independence with any semblance of decency. If she did, she wouldn’t be Rashida Tlaib. Her bitching and moaning about Speaker McCarthy recognizing Israel’s independence day earned her a slapdown via Twitter’s Community Notes just last week.

But Tlaib isn’t one to let facts get in the way of her rhetoric, so she was full steam ahead with planning a “Nakba Day” event. For those of you who are unaware, “nakba” is the Arabic word for “catastrophe,” and the term is used deliberately by those who intend to discredit or delegitimize Israel’s existence as an independent nation. Well, Speaker McCarthy was having none of it, and canceled the event.
McCarthy told the Free Beacon that he intervened late Tuesday to reserve the Capitol Visitor Center space where Tlaib was set to host a Wednesday event to mourn Israel’s founding as a “catastrophe.’ In its place, the speaker will lead a bipartisan briefing celebrating the 75th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
“It’s wrong for members of Congress to traffic in anti-Semitic tropes about Israel,” McCarthy told the Free Beacon. “As long as I’m Speaker, we are going to support Israel’s right to self-determination and self-defense, unequivocally and in a bipartisan fashion.”
(As a side note, after all the drama involved in handing him the Speaker’s gavel, I must say that McCarthy has been a pleasant surprise in the job.)
But lest you think Rashida Tlaib, Squad member in good standing, would ever miss a chance to prove her hatred of Israel and push her own agenda, nope. Thanks to none other than Bernie Sanders, Tlaib got a room on the Senate side of the Capitol, where Speaker McCarthy couldn’t remove her.
NEWS: Tlaib’s “Nakba Day” event is back on in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Hearing Room in a Senate office building. McCarthy does not have jurisdiction on the Senate side. Committee is chaired by Sen. Bernie Sanders.

And it was quite the party! For such a “catastrophe,” anyway. I’ll just let Ben Shapiro address the Bernie issue.
You're telling me — not Bernie Sanders, who is making kissy-face with Rashida Tlaib over an event declaring Israel's creation a disaster WHILE ROCKETS FALL ON TEL AVIV — that it's antisemitic to call out Bernie's anti-Jewish garbage? GFY. https://t.co/uAXZbPKpSD

Back to this “standing room only” party. I hope someone took attendance.
After being canceled by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), a “Nakba Day” event organized on Wednesday by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was moved to the Senate side of the Capitol complex, to the hearing room of the Senate Health, Education Labor and Pensions Committee chaired by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).”
Tlaib’s event — commemorating the “Nakba,” the term, translating to “catastrophe” that Palestinians use to refer to the establishment of the State of Israel — was sponsored by organizations that have supported the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel and have expressed support for terrorists.”
The HELP Committee is chaired by Sanders, who has been a vocal critic of Israeli policy in the Senate. During remarks at the event, Tlaib said that “everyone needs an aamu in the Senate” — an Arabic word meaning “uncle” — ”so I want to also welcome you to Senator Bernie Sanders’s [committee room].”
Sanders did not personally attend the event. McCarthy, as House speaker, does not have jurisdiction over Senate office buildings. A Senate source told JI that Senate committees have control over their own rooms. An individual close to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Schumer was “totally unaware of this event.”
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), another outspoken critic of Israel, was the only lawmaker other than Tlaib who attended the event. The committee room was standing-room-only for the event, with attendees spilling out into the hallway.”
“No child should ever have to worry what will fall from the sky. Palestinians aren’t going anywhere. And we have a right to tell our stories of the Nakba of 1948. And today, because the Nakba never ended.” – @RashidaTlaib pic.twitter.com/BAxCW0jJtJ

“And we have a right to tell our stories of the Nakba of 1948”? Honey, you were born in 1976 in Detroit. This party was nothing more than a bitchfest about Israel existing, while bombs are currently falling ON ISRAEL. Apparently, “no child should ever have to worry what will fall from the sky,” doesn’t apply to Israeli children.
According to all reports, Bernie Sanders unilaterally decided to hand over his committee room for this little party. At least, no other senators at this point are willing to admit that they knew about it. And only one Jewish Democrat – Senator Jacky Rosen of Nevada – is willing to condemn this. Why do most Jewish Democrats allow anti-Semites like Rashida Tlaib to bully them into silence???
Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a pro-Israel stalwart who co-chairs the Senate Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, told Jewish Insider that “calling the establishment of the world’s only Jewish state a ‘catastrophe’ is deeply offensive, and I strongly disagree with allowing this event to be held on Capitol Hill.”
“Israel was founded as a refuge for the Jewish people fleeing millennia of antisemitic persecution and violence,” she continued. “Let me be absolutely clear: the United States is and will always remain a stalwart ally of the State of Israel.”
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), the ranking member on the HELP Committee, was not aware that the committee room would be used for the event or consulted on it, a spokesperson said in a statement.”
“I wholeheartedly disapprove of the Majority permitting the use of the HELP Committee room for this divisive event,” Cassidy said. “The Capitol Grounds should not be used as a pedestal to legitimize anti-Semitic bigotry.”
So, Rashida Tlaib got to hold her “Nakba” party and Bernie Sanders enabled her, and so far only one Senate Democrat is willing to stand up and condemn it, and none on the House side as far as I can find. Will other Democrats like Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jerry Nadler be willing to stand up to Rashida Tlaib again and speak out? Why does Rashida Tlaib (and by appearance, Cori Bush) get to hold an anti-Semitic event while using a Senate committee room? And will anyone condemn Bernie Sanders for being Tlaib’s willing partner in this “Nabka” party?
Don’t hold your breath waiting.

Islam is toxic to human life.
Thinking people, since at least the time of Thomas Jefferson (read his writings on the subject) have known this, It’s just never been seriously dealt with
Folks today think Jefferson was a “Yay multiculturalism!” kind of guy because he had a Koran. Nope. He was a “Know your enemy” kind of guy because we were dealing with Muslim terrorists back then.
Spot on. “Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates” does a good job of covering the section, including some of Jeffersons own writings on the topic. Suffice it to say, he was NOT a fan
One must wonder how this pro-muslim, anti-American bitch ever got elected. I hope those who voted for her are happy.
Because they too are muslim or muslim supporting.. They hate America as much as she does, and yes, they are happy with her performance, for just those reasons
“Why do most Jewish Democrats allow anti-Semites like Rashida Tlaib to bully them into silence???”
Stockholm syndrome
Because they are Democrats (= Socialist/Marxist) – not Jewish. They hate Judaism just as much as they hate America – more, actually.
Oh, and only a single R senator condemned it too.
