Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson have a book to sell. And they’re going all out on the marketing, in order to pump up the sales, in advance of the book’s release next Tuesday.

When I say all out, I mean ALL OUT. According to The Daily Beast, they’ve even hired a crisis PR firm to help them handle the release of their “Original Sin” book, because those MAGA meanies keep digging up clips of Jake Tapper absolutely trashing anyone who dared suggest that Joe Biden was cognitively impaired. The most famous example of this, of course, was his snotty treatment of Lara Trump during the 2020 election.

Jake Tapper and co-author Alex Thompson have hired a crisis PR expert as they drop revelations of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline from their new book.

The CNN anchor and Axios reporter are the co-authors of “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. To promote the book, which is out May 20, the two have signed up crisis communications expert Risa Heller and her firm Heller Co. to help navigate the rollout, according to Breaker Media, co-written by former Daily Beast reporter Lachlan Cartwright.

Heller has represented controversial figures across media and politics, including former CNN chief Jeff Zucker, convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, and former Rep. Anthony Weiner, who was ousted twice from public life over sexting young women and a minor.

Tapper confirmed the news to Breaker Media, saying Heller was helping him with “advice” as they make the book’s “rollout as smart as possible.”

I wonder if Heller told Tapper to just start pushing his book on his own show, dropping juicy details from the book as if they were “breaking news.” Did Jake Tapper clear this with the higher-ups at CNN? After all, CNN isn’t making a dime on this book, and now one of their anchors is busy pimping his own book to drive up the sales. Here was Tapper, on last night’s show, spilling the tea on the latest revelation – which may end up being damning in more ways than one for multiple people.

“Access dropped off considerably in 2024, and I didn’t interact with him as much,” said one Cabinet secretary, who explained that instead of briefing Biden, the secretary would brief other senior White House aides, who then briefed the president.

The Cabinet member thought it was strange and wondered if it was a way of filtering out particular information and directing Biden’s decision-making, according to the book.

“Yes, the president is ‘making the decisions,’ but if the inner circle is shaping them in such a way, is it really a decision? Are they leading him to something?” the Cabinet secretary wondered.

Tapper and Thompson write that White House aides who once had regular access to Biden would go months without seeing him. At some meetings, others noticed that Biden “would occasionally be mumbling and not making much sense,” according to the authors.

“I don’t think he has dementia,” said a second Cabinet secretary, according to the authors. “But the thing is, he’s an old man. The president can give you four to six good hours a day. When he got tired, sloppy isn’t the right word, but his guard was down.”

The second Cabinet secretary said of Biden’s inner circle: “It’s hard for an adviser to be honest with the principal. If he had asked me, I would have told him, ‘Do one term and you’re done to preserve your legacy.’”

A third Cabinet secretary told Tapper and Thompson that Biden’s top aides “shielded him in every meeting.” From October 2023 on, “the cabinet was kept at bay,” this secretary said.

“For months, we didn’t have access to him. There was clearly a deliberate strategy by the White House to have him meet with as few people as necessary,” the third Cabinet secretary told the authors.

“At one rare meeting during that time,” the authors write that the third secretary “was shocked by how the president was acting. He seemed ‘disoriented’ and ‘out of it,’ his mouth agape.”

The secretary said that Biden’s staff always wanted to keep him happy and shield him from bad news. This was also true when the “bad news was about the president himself, about his deterioration,” the authors write.

“The staff did him wrong,” the Cabinet member said. “If you were with him every day and you knew this was a problem, why didn’t you go to him and say something?”

For his part, Thompson (who just won an award at the White House Correspondents Dinner for his coverage of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline) backed up Tapper’s segment with a similar exposé on Axios and a thread on X. In both Tapper’s segment on his show, and in Thompson’s piece on Axios, they both say that the information in their book is “based on more than 200 interviews, mostly with Democratic insiders, almost all of which occurred after the 2024 election.” Those “insiders” apparently include at least THREE Cabinet secretaries. WHO ARE THEY?

But it’s worse than that. Consider the timing. This book is being released next Tuesday, May 20th – exactly FOUR MONTHS after Inauguration Day. This book was announced just a little over a month after Inauguration Day. This means that while Joe Biden was still in office, his Cabinet members were busy spilling the tea to Tapper and Thompson about just how “out of it” the President of the United States was, AND NO ONE SAID A DAMN THING UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO SELL A BOOK. Trump had been elected, everyone knew Biden was on the way out the door, and apparently, Biden’s own cabinet had zero confidence in his ability to take that proverbial 3 am phone call and thought he was too freaking old to do his job. The Cabinet members said NOTHING. They could have used the 25th Amendment on him and put Kamala Harris in as president at any point during Biden’s term of office, but they didn’t. Why didn’t they? Did Kamala Harris not want the job? Did the Cabinet not want her as president? What possible excuse can there be for knowingly leaving an increasingly frail and senile old man in office?

And consider Tapper and Thompson, as they compiled the information from these interviews for their book. These are actual bombshells of information. And they learned about this WHILE JOE BIDEN WAS STILL IN OFFICE. And what did they do? NOTHING. This cover up of Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was the biggest presidential scandal they had ever witnessed personally, and they decided to keep that all to themselves in order to PUT IT IN A BOOK AND MAKE MONEY OFF IT LATER.

I don’t think it has been stressed enough just how insanely dangerous it was to leave Joe Biden in office after the debate, when what we had been seeing for years (remember those “cheap fakes“?) was live and in full color on our screens. What would have happened if the United States had been attacked in the latter half of 2024? Just who, exactly, was in charge at the White House? And how long will it be until the Biden coffers are depleted enough for Jill to write a tell-all book of her own?

It’s time to face facts. Washington DC is a small universe unto itself, where everybody knows somebody who knows somebody. If the Cabinet members knew, then Congressional leaders knew. If Congressional leaders knew, then their staffers and aides knew. If the staffers and aides knew, then the media knew. Any Republican who spoke up was instantly mocked and cut down by the media – again, look at how Jake Tapper went after anyone who dared suggest Joe Biden was in a cognitive decline – and no Democrat was willing to speak up (save Dean Phillips, who ended up ostracized from his fellow House Democrats and gave up his seat). EVERYONE KNEW that Joe Biden was failing. But it isn’t until NOW, when everyone who pointed it out has been proven right, that Now The Truth Can Be Told™.

I don’t think this can be emphasized enough. The man who was President of the United States, who had control of the nuclear football, was sliding into senility and everyone around him, including his own Cabinet and the media, collectively shrugged and then tried to figure out HOW BEST TO PROFIT FROM IT. Democrats now claim they are “rattled” by the cover up that was perpetrated against them. BULLSHIT. You all KNEW. Trying to retcon and claim that Biden running was always a bad idea is offensively insulting to all of us who were saying this FOR YEARS.

Next to being President, the pressure of running for it is almost as hard. The idea that an 81-year-old man, already limited, could handle both–and then serve another four years–always was nuts.
And the people closest to him did him no favor by not telling him the truth.

And yet, Team Biden has the absolute gall to insist that the country was never in danger while Joe was in the Oval Office.

In a statement to CNN, a Biden spokesman criticized the book, saying: “We continue to await anything that shows where Joe Biden had to make a presidential decision or where national security was threatened or where he was unable to do his job. In fact, the evidence points to the opposite – he was a very effective president.”

Contrast that to what Tapper and Thompson are reporting from these chickenshit Cabinet members who won’t put their names out there. The circle around Biden was so tight that if a big decision had to be made, no one has any idea who was making that decision! Remember what Speaker Johnson said about his private conversation about an executive order that Joe Biden signed? Biden had no idea what he HAD signed. We are Providentially blessed that no massive crisis emerged domestically or internationally after the presidential election, because Joe Biden was clearly no longer in charge of his own presidency. And everyone knew it. And those who were around Joe Biden need to be held accountable for it.

And Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, who KNEW that Cabinet members were talking about Biden’s decline, said nothing because they were looking to make a buck off it. Do not reward them for covering up what they knew until they could sell something.
