Sunday Morning Cafe Cocktails

Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! Pass the flutes and let’s raise up our glasses in celebration of Mother’s Day. For a sweet day, we are dining al fresco with brunch selection including fresh pastries, hot waffles, and berry tarts. It’s the second Sunday of May and we’re fast heading towards summer. Another weird week is in the rear-view mirror, but raising more concerns on what the rest of the year brings in the runup to November’s election. So grab a plate, dig in and let’s get to it. A votre sante!

Remember, Gavin Newsom is running for President

CA Governor Hairgel hovers in the wings waiting for the American meat puppet, Biden, to fall over. If it’s not 2024, it surely will be 2028. And while the Man from Bergdorf Goodman rearranges the chairs in Sacramento hoping to create some good news background, everything he does to California, he wants for the nation.

Good News for Barron Trump

Just a few days ago, the chattering classes were as excited as a starving coyote faced with an unguarded porterhouse steak when it was announced Barron Trump would be a Florida delegate to the GOP convention. And that was only a continuation of the chin drool that splashed across social media a couple of months ago when Barron celebrated his 18th birthday.

Semi-good news, it looks like Barron is skipping the delegate gig due to prior commitments.

Barron Trump, 18, was invited Wednesday to attend the Republican Convention in Milwaukee as a delegate for the Florida GOP — the first time the youngest member of the Trump family would have been directly involved in politics.

“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” The Office of Melania Trump said in a statement.

Dears, don’t tell me there aren’t two Americas when the scions of Democrats get the big bucks and genuflections like talentless hacks Chelsea Clinton or Malia Obama while the offspring of Republicans are routinely targeted for the worst the Lamestream media can dish. And, it should be noted, Malia is being given the “oh so brave and stunning” treatment for dropping her last name so she can make it on her own in LaLa Land.

Whoops! Someone pass me a napkin, stat. I just snorted some champagne at that one.

Every supervisor’s nightmare

Not that this person’s co-workers won’t be suffering, too.

This is the office cry-bully. A bundle of passive-aggressive narcissism. The person who calls in sick on Mondays or Fridays, who lurks in the hallways or near the breakroom door to eavesdrop on co-workers’ conversations, who runs to HR any time a co-worker behaves less than solicitous.

Beware brightly colored hair (and the insistence on unrealistic pronouns) — mark of high toxicity to be avoided.

Harvard loses another billionaire

A half billion here, a few hundred-million there and, sooner or later, we’re talking real money walking away from the Ivies.

Billionaire investor Kenneth Griffin called on his alma mater Harvard University on Saturday to embrace “Western values”, saying that the turmoil across college campuses was the product of a “cultural revolution” in U.S. education.

Griffin, founder of U.S. hedge fund Citadel, told the Financial Times in an interview that the U.S. had “lost sight of education as the means of pursuing truth and acquiring knowledge” over the past decade. (snip)

Griffin who has donated more than half a billion dollars to Harvard University said in January that he has halted donations to the school over how it handled antisemitism on campus.
“What you’re seeing now is the end-product of this cultural revolution in American education playing out on American campuses, in particular, using the paradigm of the oppressor and the oppressed,” Griffin told the FT.

“The protests on college campuses are almost like performative art..,” he said.

Bad performative art.

Irony meter is pegged

This is the state of reasoning of one of the portside hysterics after Dobbs.

Dollars to croissants, dears, this “my body, my choice” female saw nothing wrong with mandating Wuhan Lung Rot vaccines jabs. What the hysterical Southern Sister chooses to ignore is that this isn’t about her body at all. And the freedom to control your body isn’t the question. It’s the circumstances under which society will allow you to kill another human being.

Your Sunday smile

Out of horrible tragedy comes hope.

Tunnel to Towers CEO Frank Siller announces his organization is honoring four Charlotte officers killed in the line of duty by paying off their families’ mortgages.

Look at the clock! Well, this is a wrap on our time together today. Still a wonderful rest of Sunday to honor your mom, in person or just in your heart wherever she is. Let not any of the troubles of this world take away from today your celebration and measure of devotion. See you next Sunday! Cheers!

T2T is a top notch organization, and Frank Siller is top shelf for sure!

That video of the British kids is hysterical, but their initial reaction is a perfect example of why we had to fight the revolution! lol

The trans troll…. so many comments.. the most obvious is this is why we should not be encouraging mental illness..

    “Harvard loses another billionaire”

I don’t think the Ivies are going to be too worried. I read a news article, I can’t remember where, that the countries backing hamas have donated around 10 million and I don’t believe that it would hurt them to up the ante to make up for the US millionaires and billionaires that pull out.

The only thing that might hurt them is for the US students to go elsewhere for the “education”.

    “my body, my choice”
“OK, fine. I won’t fund your choices.”
    “Your wallet stays, you bigot!”

And 8 hours is a long shift? You poor summer child.

Is the self-important, smug, self-pitying, weak and mentally unstable person preparing its hair a girl trying to be a boy or vice versa? I couldn’t tell never having met such a creature in the wild in its natural state.

It’s clearly delighted to have a bit of drama in its life so as to be the centre of attention and play the VICTIM.

    • Scott says:

” I couldn’t tell never having met such a creature in the wild in its natural state.”… There is NO “natural state” everything about such a creature is unnatural..

  • GWB says:

Reasons why a woman has an abortion are nobody’s business but her own.
Well, most murderers would say that about their murders.
But, as Darleen notes, the issue is what you’re doing to someone else‘s body. If you truly wanted bodily autonomy, you’d have refrained from that one night stand. But, your hedonism is sooooo important.

And beans on toast IS weird. But sausage, egg, and chips for breakfast? Oh yes! YUMMMMM!
