Standing On The Wall

Standing On The Wall

Now that a few days have passed and I have had time to quash a bit of my ire and lift the rubicund veil from my eyes, I must release my words.

Seventy years ago, the nation as a whole was thrust together and became one impermeable unit, banding together in a time of need in order to see their goal of not only victory but survival to fruition. That generation did set the example, but it was lost.

Fast forward three decades. When our nation’s finest returned from Vietnam they were treated as less than human, vilified, hated. They hid who they were and what they did lest someone label them “baby killers” and the like. There were no parades, no kissing sailors, no ticker tapes.

It’s never been any great secret that veterans are my favorite people, or that of the people I hold most dear, the majority are veterans. I’ve also made no bones about a special proclivity towards Vietnam veterans.

That said, last week when this administration not only shut down The Wall, but asked veterans to leave who were there to heal, I felt a special kind of hatred toward the “leader” of our once-great country.

Make no mistake, I was angry about the World War II memorial’s closing, and I blogged about it here. But when veterans who never had their welcome home, who need to know that they ARE appreciated, go to THEIR memorial to heal, they had damn well better be able to do so at will.

So, when I logged on to Spacebook earlier today and saw this picture from the gentlemen at The Wounded Walk page of the descent on The Wall this morning, I may have teared up a bit.

Yeah, there is a special kind of reassurance that comes from seeing so many stand up for what is right and those who are long overdue the respect they earned. To paraphrase Reagan, ‘Mr. President, you will not close down that Wall!”

Jackass.

    I don’t know if it’s a “true” story…but it’s true enough.

Putin allegedly said off the record that “negotiating with Obama is like playing chess with a pigeon. The pigeon knocks over all the pieces, shits on the board and then struts around like it won the game.”

“Jackass” doesn’t begin to cover it.

    Great piece, Ros….

I would broaden your disdain to “all of our elected officials.” Democratic, Republican and Independents. So what sense does it make to pass a resolution to pay all furloughed workers their back pay and tell them not to come to work? Where do I sign up for a job where I get 10 days (and the clock is ticking adding more and more time) of paid days off. The entire “elected representative” system has failed the nation.

I don’t give an actual rat’s ass about the others concerning this; they’ve all drawn my ire as a collective over this in its entirety. This, though, comes straight from the OMB, whose reins the Personal Pronoun in Chief holds.

He carries this, and he’s a jerk.

Not according to the polls 😉 … Unless, of course, you’ve been watching Fox News.

  • ROS says:

Your attempts at provocation may continue as long as you wish, but the standard “you must watch Fox” -lacking only in the stereotypical intentional “Faux” misspelling this time- is tired and overused. I don’t, your lamestream polls remain skewed, and he’s still responsible and an ass.

    Straw?

When America’s overreaching Regime moves from “hearts and minds” to “body and soul”…from “Shut-down” to “Take-down”…the time to argue with one another will be finished. ROS knows that time is near.

Hey, Franklin, you missed celebrating V-E Day and V-J Day with me. 🙁
Let’s hope there will be a V-A Day for America’s patriots to celebrate.
It looks like this War will be a real doozy. 🙄
