SPLC Money Funded A Significant Number Of Smear Campaigns

Funding smear campaigns? You don’t say. Now that the SPLC is FINALLY under a very large spotlight, it’s quite illuminating to see who is whining about the indictment, who is staying radio silent, and who/what entities were the beneficiaries of those donor funds.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has been funded by big name businesses and philanthropists including George Soros, JPMorgan, ex-Apple CEO Tim Cook and George Clooney.

The group — indicted Tuesday for allegedly funneling millions to the hate groups it says it is ideologically against — also holds over $786 million in assets, yet still solicits donations.

In fact, it took in $106 million in donated cash 2024, according to its latest available financial disclosures, yet still ran “urgent” appeals for “emergency” cash.

Over the years, donations have been made by big name donors, many of whom pledged to the organization after clashes at a 2017 by “Unite the Right” white supremacist rally in Virginia, which resulted in the death of one protester.

That year, George Clooney’s foundation donated $1 million, and longtime donor JPMorgan gave an additional $500,000 for “disaster relief,” records show.

Then-Apple CEO Tim Cook pledged $1 million, CBS reported, and MGM said it would match employee donations to the SPLC and other social justice groups, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Little did those donors know that the SPLC was allegedly sending money to one of the people involved in organizing the “Unite the Right” rally, according to the indictment from the Department of Justice, revealed Tuesday.

Given how much the SPLC has in assets, do you think the Clooneys or Tim Cook are going to ask for their millions back? They aren’t the only ones who’ve been big donors to the SPLC.

And The Atlantic published its very anonymously sourced hit piece on Kash Patel just days before the SPLC was indicted. Certainly an interesting set of coincidences. Especially in light of the following:

Things that make you go…. HMMMMM.

Astoundingly, there are a great number of people who believe it is totally fine for a 501C3 non-profit to use donor funds to pay people to be informants. In other words, the argument is, we are an arm of law enforcement searching out hate groups, so we can use our donor funds without impunity.

No, funding them certainly doesn’t pass the smell test. And again, SPLC wasn’t just “investigating” hate groups, they were also labeling conservatives, Catholics, and others on the Republican side of the aisle as hate groups. Such as Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA.

But the SPLC was super insistent that they knew what they were talking about when they labeled TPUSA and Family Research Council as hate groups. All while they were funding extremist Nazi and KKK groups. Furthermore, it wasn’t just Charlottesville. There are ties to Soros (of course), “No Kings,” possibly George Floyd, Jussie Smollett of all things, and the Obamas. Go figure.

Yet, according to the Democrats who are big mad about this. The indictment is “nakedly political.” As if the Democrats don’t operate the same way.

Let’s talk about who is “nakedly political” and very involved in major smear campaigns shall we? SPLC’s former CEO, Margaret Huang.

In a piece published last year, Huang claimed that “hard-right extremist groups” have steadily penetrated American life, politics, and government since President Trump’s 2016 election – arguing his second White House run gave them “an ally in the highest office in the nation.”

“What was once considered a fringe agenda in the modern era is the blueprint from which the country’s president–and the MAGA movement– is operating,” she blasted in an article for Daily Kos, warning that the “hard right” is muscling its way into schools and libraries.

“Lawmakers have not only pulled their agenda of exclusions but also their tactics straight from the playbook of hate and antigovernment extremist groups,” the Columbia University grad continued.

“By spreading disinformation, peddling conspiracy theories, and preying on people’s fears and uncertainty, they seek to deepen divisions and rouse suspicion of any effort to make spaces more welcoming for all.”

The organization also launched a webpage branding White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller an “anti-immigrant” who shaped Trump’s “racist and draconian immigration policies.”

There you go. SPLC was on a mission to identify the hate groups who are affiliated with or support ORANGEMANBAD! All while funneling $3 million or more to genuine hate groups.

Smear campaigns, protests, and riots. Seems the SPLC had their fingers in all sorts of hateful pies these last few years. This is what happens when the mission is abandoned and the decision is made to swim in the gutter.
