Hurricane Harvey is leaving untold amounts of damage across over 30 counties in Texas. Thousands of homes and businesses are destroyed, people have lost everything including their cars, keepsakes, clothes, and so much more.
The organizations in Texas and beyond that are stepping up are too many to count. Churches, businesses, relief organizations, and food banks are all figuring out ways to help folks from Corpus Christi, to Rockport, to Houston, Beaumont, Galveston and beyond.
This is Houston. Wanna know what this line is for? Food? Water? Housing? Nope. These people are waiting in line TO VOLUNTEER. #Harvey pic.twitter.com/UxGnqSNOQN

Yet there are those slimy creatures out there who can never let a good crisis go to waste. I’m speaking specifically about Women’s March organizer and ISIS/Islam apologist Linda Sarsour.
She’s fundraising for Hurricane Harvey too!
Donate to the #Harvey Hurricane Relief Fund. https://t.co/nkFbwgGWDH

Wonderful! That means money from the #Harvey Hurricane Relief Fund will help provide water, food, clothing, rebuilding, and financial support for those who will need to rebuild …RIGHT? WRONG. Very Very WRONG.
From the Fund website we read this:
Together we will organize and advocate for our devastated communities, shining a spotlight on inequalities that emerge in the restoration of lives, livelihoods, and homes, amplifying the needs of hard-hit communities, and providing legal assistance for residents wrongfully denied government support.
Oh, but that’s not all. You see, any money raised by Linda and her little crew will go to the Texas Organizing Project Education Fund. Which is a non-profit that advances racial and economic justice. And it gets even better.
On its Facebook page, the Project announced that all donations received “will only be used to organize in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.”
There you have it! Community organizing that is definitely NOT letting a good crisis go to waste!
This is what people in Texas are dealing with.
But Linda has decided the funds are going to be used for political action instead of helping those who need assistance RIGHT NOW. Needless to say, the backlash against her grift was swift.
This is a scam to raise cash for a group that only exists to run left-wing GOTV operations. https://t.co/mkIzZxPZ7u

Personally, I think it's disgusting to try to get people to donate to a political organization using a natural disaster as cover. https://t.co/j7S16sL3Wv

So Linda Sarsour is attempting to exploit the victims of Hurricane #Harvey by fundraising off of the disaster. What a fraud. pic.twitter.com/L2ErQLdP3y

Poor little misunderstood grifter Linda wasn’t thrilled that people didn’t like her grand idea. So she decided to pushback.
"Alt-right" must have sent out an email blast. My mentions are on steroids.
— Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) August 30, 2017
WOWWWWW. So you decided to deflect appropriate criticism by deciding to brand everyone as the Alt-Right thugs? Yeah, that’s a GREAT strategy Linda. Terrific.
This has nothing to do with the alt-right and everything to do with you being a grifter. On the backs of people suffering.
— Sean Agnew (@seanagnew) August 30, 2017
Exactly. In fact she’s such a grifter that she’s been actively telling people that donating to the Red Cross is a bad idea!
Listen up Linda. Thousands of miles of Texas is under freaking WATER! Even if people can get back to their homes, it’s likely that they’ll be a total loss because there aren’t enough companies in the entire U.S. who can help get the water out before the mold kicks in! No one knows what the amount nor the cost of damage will be nor how long it will take to rebuild all the homes and businesses.
Your political action community organizing crap won’t help. In fact, you and that Texas Project will be in the freaking way!
My advice Linda? Fold up your little fundraising tent and go far far away from Texas. Texas doesn’t need your help. Now or ever.
donating to the Red Cross is a bad idea
Well, even a blind nut finds a squirrel once in a while. IMO, the Red Cross is not the same organization that earned its reputation a hundred years ago. And I have avoided giving to them for several years, choosing other groups, instead.
But there’s a big difference between donations going to a political organization and going to alternate charities like the Salvation Army.
Of course, “shameful Linda Sarsour” gets a DUH!, too. Since that’s essentially redundant…….
I’m not a fan of the RC either as they, on the national level, have lost their way.
But for Linda to fundraise off the Harvey disaster for a community organizing PAC …AND urge people to NOT donate to Red Cross and others. Infuriating!
