Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Resigns

After watching yesterday’s brutal grilling of Secret Service Director Julia Pierson for the number of recent lapses and past cover-ups of security failures, one had to wonder how long she could last in her job.

She just answered that question herself by resigning.

Per Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Joseph Clancy, former Special Agent in Charge of the Presidential Protection Division, has been appointed as interim director.

Here is hoping that the bipartisan avalanche of disdain triggers some real reforms within the Secret Service.

In the meantime, the alleged fence jumper, Omar Gonzalez, has pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of entering a restricted building or grounds with a deadly weapon.

Following some major SNAFU, receiving the “I have full confidence in…..” nod from an administration official (the higher the better) is akin to receiving a kiss from the local Mafioso Don. Get your will made out ASAP and pre-order your funeral arrangements, you’re going to need them.
