revolution chic: lydia guevara’s peta ad

peta gets more and more ridiculous if that’s possible. now they are exploiting the granddaughter of infamous ernesto ‘Che’ guevara, the cuban revolutionary leader, in a new campaign called ‘a vegetarian revolution.’ here’s a photo from lydia guevara’s peta ad:

lydia_guevara

lydia guevara’s peta pose

of course we all know that che guevara was the bff of fidel castro. he played a pivotal role in fidel’s rise to totalitarian power in cuba. he died like the rat he was in the jungles of bolivia in 1967.

now, here is the way peta presents their latest anti-food campaign:

Lydia Guevara poses semi-nude in a PETA campaign that tells viewers to “join the vegetarian revolution,” said PETA spokesman Michael McGraw. …

In the ad, Lydia Guevara wears camouflage pants, a red beret, and bandoliers of baby carrots while standing with one fist on her hip and the other outstretched.

“It very much evokes the tag line of the ad, which is ‘Join the vegetarian revolution,'” McGraw said. “It’s an homage of sorts to her late grandfather.”

homage to che?

i don’t know anything about lydia guevara except she looks too skinny and could maybe use a good steak. i really don’t care about knowing anything. but lydia’s grandfather, che guevara, was one of the most profoundly evil psychopaths in the history of totalitarianism.

did you know he personally executed children? for generations, che personified anti-Americanism throughout the counter culture. and now, in the age of obama, che is all the more popular and almost mainstream. this rise in his popularity obviously gave his granddaughter lydia cache among kooky liberals in their chronic attempts to force us all to eat their tofu crap and things with no eyes.

yawn. give me a rib eye from outback with a baked potato and ceasar salad. yummy!

Well, as much as I hate to break your liberal stereotypes, you won’t catch me turning down any ribeye steak. Further, I’ve always been uneasy with this glorification of Che Guevara. He was a killer, no doubt about it.

But his granddaughter is a flat-out HOTTIE!!!!!! Yowsa!

  • Dade says:

Also, I posted this today as a comment on your post about a “terrorist paradise,” but I’m putting it here, too, just to make sure y’all see it.

These guys are Uighurs (Chinese Muslims). They were wrongly imprisoned at GITMO. Here’s the lede from a Washington Post article about them:

“In late 2003, the Pentagon quietly decided that 15 Chinese Muslims detained at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, could be released. Five were people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, some of them picked up by Pakistani bounty hunters for U.S. payoffs. The other 10 were deemed low-risk detainees whose enemy was China’s communist government — not the United States, according to senior U.S. officials.”

But none of that matters to you, does it? It doesn’t matter that these guys weren’t terrorists. For you, any admission that President Junior may have made a mistake is an indictment of your pathetic creed. Any move that President Obama makes must be reflexively criticized. Fifteen men wrongfully imprisoned? That doesn’t matter.

    BikerDan says “Pathetic.”

What I find pathetic is the juvenile bravura displayed by Micky and Rope. Oh, yeah. You guys are gonna find the gumption to go to Bermuda and settle things up, are ya?

    Embarrassing.

  • Micky says:

Hey ya know what Dade ?
Since we cant believe anything Bush says I thought it would only be proper to go to Bermuda and talk to these guys myself.
    Fair enough, right ?

By the way, if their enemy was China what the hell were they doing in Afghanistan ?
Did the dems make some mistakes locking up all those innocent Japanese during WW2 ? Were amends and reparations made ? Yeah !

Obviously if these guys were mistaken they’re being treated just fine by all appearances, right ?
Have a mojito or something, relax.

  • Micky says:

Sheez, I remember during the campaign there were some Obama offices that had pics of Che on the wall. The stuff you guys glorify sometimes is freaky to say the least

  • Dade says:

Well, according to the Pentagon, these guys were in Afghanistan getting arms training which they planned to use to fight the Communists in China. Doesn’t that make them Freedom Fighters?

Regarding the Japanese interment camps during WWII…yes, FDR completely overstepped the bounds of executive authority. In my mind, it was an impeachable offense. Sadly, the American public, writ large, went along with it. Just like the Germans went along with the interment of Jews, gypsies, and homosexuals at roughly the same time.

    What’s a mojito?

  • lisab says:

she ooks fabulous … and those are not baby carrots … tch

i am a vegetarian too … 20 years! and hubby too … it was one of my conditions to date him …

carnivores smell … and i would never sleep with one

  • Marcus says:

Che was a resistance fighter and a hero among his people. He inspires young people to step out of the box and fight hard with no retreat for something you believe in. You don’t have to be a Marxist like he was to believe those principles. Kate were you ever young? Don’t you get the romance of Che?

  • Vivian says:

Peta’s claim is outrage and shock value. They have no credibility on main street. This girl is the one cashing in on her murderous grandfather. She is on the thin side but what about her vein-y arms? Or are those tattoos? Make my steak med rare and my baker loaded. Pass the Bud too.

  • lisab says:

she does not have an ounce of fat on those arms, which is typical for a strict vegetarian.

i am not sure she has veins showing or if it is just the makeup. she appears to be covered in something orange

but in any case she has a good body. if i had to guess she lifts weights to sculpt her arms and shoulders.

  • Don’t you get the romance of Che?

Are you freakin’ kidding with this crap? Romance of Che? Sweet jesus some of you liberals (not all) are just plain whackos.

His principles? Yeah, a guy who kills children is a man of principles.

Oh yes, bow to the romance and principles that are this person:

In one passage, he described the execution of Eutimio Guerra, a peasant and army guide. “I fired a .32-calibre bullet into the right hemisphere of his brain, which came out through his left temple,” was Guevara’s clinical description of the killing. “He moaned for a few moments, then died.”

Yeah, Che was a hero, a real gem of a person. Just trying to stick it to the man.

You people who think this way are pathetic.

  • Micky says:

“Doesn’t that make them Freedom Fighters?”

Getting arms training from a terrorist organization and then going and using the methods that camp employs makes them terrorists Dade. OKAY.
The point is that war is messy. Historically this war has sustained less collateral damage and death of innocents than any other war ever. Mistakes get made. You guys really need to drop these expectations of wars being executed with surgical precision, its unrealistic. When you make mistakes the best you can do is apologixe and try to make up for it somehow which is whats been done with the Japanese and the Uighurs. You have to admit, they were treated better than the Japanese and still I’m not all that convinced of their innocence

Mojito is a Cuban rum and lime cocktail. One of Hemingways favorites, maybe Guevarras too.

    Marcus.
Dont you get the romance of Saddam, Castro, Osama, Stalin, Mao and Kim ?
    More like fricken bloodlust.

PETA is like the Code Pink of all animal rights organizations

  • KO says:

conservatives r dinosaurs. eat shiit losers. barack rocks!

  • Jane says:

I am understand Marcus’s point. Bad boy freedom fighters have a air of mystery. Che though was bad news but his granddaughtet is lovely

  • Tom says:

According to what I read, Che executed hundreds, not thousands, of mostly war criminals after military tribunals found them guilty. To counter what has been written, Batista killed an estimated 20,000 Cubans. Let’s get real. It’s too easy to check facts so stop trying to re-write history.

  • Micky says:

    Yes KO.
Unfortunatley liberals like you do tatse like sh*t. But hey, someone has to deal with you.

    “barack rocks”?

gag me with a spoon, far out, solid, groovy, for sure.

    Freedom fighter Jane ?

Che fought for no ones freedom but his own freedom to be a monster.
The only reason they attain this “romance” or “air of mystery” and all this honorific crap is because morons like some on this thread keep using those kinds of words.
They are what they are and if you guys would start calling things what they are instead of dressing it up with all your PC crap over sensitive mitigating semantics they wouldnt get these passes and be looked at for anything but what they are.

its probably much to do with this phenomenon we see where people ust like saying it cuz it sounds kool.

I’m gonna go have my Kashi and latte` while I read my Che.

    Image, no substance = liberals

  • Micky says:

    BS Tom.

Its seems you’re off to an incredibly bias opinon on Che without willing to look at the reality of his brutality. and you tell us not to re write history ?
Its common knowledge that Che executed many hundreds, war criminals or not without due process, never mind tribunals and many without even being captured at all.
It sounds like you want to give him some kind of pass because theres worse out there ?

  • PenniePan says:

What’s not to love about Che? Most of the press about him is wrong— hyped up by people like yourselves who wanted to demonize him. He was a freedom fighter freeing people from the bloody Bautista regime. He has a gorgeous grand daughter. She does look a little strange though in her coloring. Possibly Lisa is right in that she has orange coloring added to match her carrot bullets.

Love the Che beret. Gonna have to go dig mine out and put it on.

  • Ken says:

“conservatives r dinosaurs. eat shiit losers. barack rocks!”

Keep thinking that genius. That’s what they thought in Europe right before the conservatives won overwhelmingly. You’re so arrogant and clueless.

  • Micky says:

    Pennie.
Read a book. Che would of killed half the people in your party.
I think you’re just yanking chains, no ones that dumb.

  • PenniePan says:

Micky as usual your the biggest idiot on the block. Don’t try to tell me what I believe and what I don’t. Go talk to an addict or something.

  • Ken says:

“But his granddaughter is a flat-out HOTTIE!!!!!! Yowsa!”

Agreed!!!!! I’ve never liked carrots so much in my life!!!

“But none of that matters to you, does it? It doesn’t matter that these guys weren’t terrorists. ”

Well hold on there, Dade. The Post article said they didn’t have enough evidence to go forward with prosecutions. That’s a lot different than being “innocent”. These people supposedly trained with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement:

“ETIM is described as a terrorist organization by the governments of the PRC, Kazakhstan, Pakistan and the United States, as well as the United Nations.

The Chinese government blamed ETIM members for several car bomb attacks in Xinjiang in the 1990s, as well as the death of a Chinese diplomat in Kyrgyzstan in 2002

ETIM is alleged to have had links with Al-Qaeda. In its 2005 report on terrorism, the US State Department said that the group was “linked to al-Qaida and the international jihadist movement” and that Al-Qaeda provided the group with “training and financial assistance”.

That’s a far cry from innocent. If they were so innocent why was the government of Paulu bribed with $200 million of taxpayer money to accept them? Because nobody else wanted them either. Why didn’t Obama just release them to the U.S.?

Let’s not forget about the others that had to be freed because of a “lack of any evidence” and then went straight back to terrorist activities:

    http://www.stoptheaclu.com/2009/06/07/those-nice-gitmo-vacationers-lied-to-be-freed/

“THE Pentagon now confirms that at least 74 former Guantanamo detainees have resumed terrorist activities after claiming they weren’t terrorists”

These same prisoners denied any involvement with terrorist activites and then immediately resumed them after release. This is a very trick and difficult battle we’re fighting. I agree that there needs to be better guidelines set up for holding and investigating people such as these, but I wouldn’t bend over backwards to call them “innocent”.

“For you, any admission that President Junior may have made a mistake is an indictment of your pathetic creed.”

No, not really. Conservatives have had plenty of criticism of Bush’s mistakes, whether its spending or immigration. I do agree that there are some innocents who have been swept up in all of this, but you have to remember that we’ve never fought a war like this before.

“Che was a resistance fighter and a hero among his people. He inspires young people to step out of the box and fight hard with no retreat for something you believe in.”

“Bad boy freedom fighters have a air of mystery.”

“What’s not to love about Che?”

The pure ignorance on this site is appalling. Che was not romantic or resistance fighter or a hero or a bad boy. He was a murdering thug.

Tom, the only thing correct in your post is that you will not be allowed to rewrite history here, perhaps you should learn a little something about it:

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=6946

“A Cuban prosecutor of the time who quickly defected in horror and disgust named Jose Vilasuso estimates that Che signed 400 death warrants the first few months of his command in La Cabana. A Basque priest named Iaki de Aspiazu, who was often on hand to perform confessions and last rites, says Che personally ordered 700 executions by firing squad during the period. Cuban journalist Luis Ortega, who knew Che as early as 1954, writes in his book Yo Soy El Che! that Guevara sent 1,897 men to the firing squad”

Ahhhhhhh, so romantic. Isn’t it interesting that the left, which “abhors” the death penalty, can overlook a few thousand murders by telling themselves they were “war criminals”. Hypocrisy abound!!!

“In his book Che Guevara: A Biography, Daniel James writes that Che himself admitted to ordering “several thousand” executions during the first year of the Castro regime.”

“Fidel and Che didn’t want a repeat of the Guatemalan coup in Cuba. Equally important, the massacres cowed and terrorized. Most of them came after public trials. And the executions, right down to the final shattering of the skull with the coup de grace from a massive .45 slug fired at five paces, were public too. Guevara made it a policy for his men to parade the families and friends of the executed before the blood, bone and brain spattered firing squad”

Gosh, he sounds cool. I think some of you need to get your head out of your a$$ and pay attention. Che was a criminal thug and a murderer, nothing more. The world is a better place without him.

  • Micky says:

I’m the biggest idiot on the block while you glorify a murderer ?

    Thats rich.

No ones telling you what you do or dont believe in. Are they ? Please show me where I told you what you must believe in.
You’ve made your beliefs abundantly clear as it is. I’m saying that if you truly believe that Che was some kind of hero you cant be all that bright. I offered you the benefit of the doubt by hoping no one was that dumb.
Congratulations, I think this is the first time you’ve ever proven me wrong.
Even addicts at some point in life admit they’re wrong. The ones I’ve dealt with could teach you thing or two about dealing with the world around us.

Seeing as how you’re so loyal to your belief that Che was some kind of hero its safe to say that its people like you who are responsible for propeling this romantic misconception into our society. You’re no better than the radicals in the 60s who ran around wearing T shirts with pics of Mao thinking it was cool to make such a statement against our society without realizing that the driving force behind such a leader was violence, intolerance and the crushing of any ideology except for his.
    Like I said.
    Read book. You know nothing.
You would of got in Ches face and demanded that gays be given equal rights and more than likely he would of executed you along with them.
    Wise up

  • dude says:

Surprised I stumbled upon your blog, but I must say you are a freaking idiot. How can you have any sort of discourse when your attacking everything within reach? Just a plain idiot, but then again most right wing nuts are just that.

  • lisab says:

too bad obama is sunni being from indonesia

the people of iran are shia

of course obama does not care what happens to them

  • Ken says:

Gosh, with a name like “dude” I expected a much more intelligent and thought provoking comment from you. Then again, all you on the left know how to do is insult and mock since you have no ability to debate. I understand, really.

  • kate says:

‘Surprised I stumbled upon your blog, but I must say you are a freaking idiot. How can you have any sort of discourse when your attacking everything within reach? Just a plain idiot, but then again most right wing nuts are just that.’

i may be an idiot but at least my name isn’t ‘dude’.

  • Micky says:

He wanted to be the worlds hero and to talk some sense into Ahmajinedad so if the people of Iran toss his a$$ to the wolves instead then that opportunity gets shot all to hell…

    dude

Lisab, he doenst want to support Iranians for fear that he’ll give Americans ideas

  • Phillip says:

It says a lot about the mentality of PETA that they would invoke the memory and image of a butcher of human beings in order to promote their cause against the butchery of animals.

  • Micky says:

    Dont you know Phillip ?
Its because animals are worth more than humans. The mentallity of PETA is they are all too aware of the amount of ignorance out there to be taken advantage of and marketed on. They know that these idiots will listen to a Hollywood celebrity before they’ll listen to any highly credited scientist who can tell you how animal research has saved millions of lives including the loudest nay sayers. They know that all they have to do is put a pic up of any nude or semi nude bimbo and that rational thought will right away be circumvented. They know that they dont have to deal in facts and that all they have to do is tap into the emotion driven moonbat.
I’ll bet theres people in PETAs marketing staff that are well aware of what Che was and are simlply taking advantage of the ignorance they know resides in the left

If Che we aware that his great grandaughter was participating in western commercialism and posing half naked he’d probably put a bullet in her head also. Why not ?
This was a guy whos on record as saying he’d kill Jesus if he got in his way.

  • sStop the madness says:

Victor, er…Dade, having enjoyed many a thick slab of meat with you I can attest to your Carnivore Credentialsi. But to hear that you dont’ know what a Mojito is!!! Please, head immediately to VC’s and order one. Make sure they use fresh Mint and muddle it, for pete’s sake!

  • David says:

It seems everyone is missing the point here. Farm animals are generally raised in horrible conditions, and inhumanely killed for food. If less people eat meat, there would be less demand for the supply, thereby less animals to suffer. Lydia is promoting vegetarianism, one of many ways to reduce the abuse animals endure at the hands of people.

  • blwpyrtv says:

Derechistas and izquierdistas alike cling to the romantic image of their leaders. Whether it’s Pinochet or Castro, atrocities are often denied or shrugged off.

  • Micky says:

No David, its you who misses the point….BIG TIME !!!

Having Lydia use her grandfathers legacy to promote humane treatment of animals is like Hitler running an animal shelter.
“You should listen to me because I represent a man who treated humans worse than animals” ? Help me out here buddy.
Lydia while taking advantage of the ignorance todays youth holds is promoting a monster who treated people worse than some of the most illegitimate farms weve ever seen. Wise up.
Most animals are humanely harvested these days with the exception of a few farms that go under the radar of the SPCA

  • Ken says:

I do see the point, David, and while I cannot claim to be a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination, I am trying to eat less meat.

I think the bigger point is that you probaby shouldn’t use a relative of a butcher of human beings to make that point, that’s all.

  • David says:

Well that may be right Ken, but then again, Lydia could be different than her grandfather. Of course she is borrowing his image to get people to notice, and evidently it’s working. Unfortunately they are paying more attention to his legacy than to her cause. Also remember, there are a lot of people who admire Che and perhaps she’s thinking to convert some of those people to lessen the suffering of animals . If this happens it would be a good thing, regardless as to who her relatives are or aren’t.
Micky, there are wayyyy more than a few farms abusing animals. If you research that on the web, it will be hard to stomach some of the images you’ll find.

  • Micky says:

    David.
I’m a proessional chef whos educated himself in every corner of the field for decades from carving ice, mongering fish to butchery. I’ve toured many farms and slaughter houses and am quite aware of what the standards are for the industry.
What you and most of these hypersensative bleeding heart vegan environmentalist percieve as abuse are traditional and widely accepted means of harvest. The context of your protests are usually disengenuous in relation to the field.
Unless these animals live in plush luxury their whole lives and are harvested by someone euthanising them with the party of their lives you guys arent happy.
I have no problem with not eating veal, the method is cruel. I have no problem with free range foul and am a strict advocate for animals rights. I’ll be the first guy to make some noise if an animal is being mistreated, but you guys arent gonna suck me into this over blown scenario where you’re trying to abolish all forms of meat based on your own idealism. Theres a huge difference between promoting vegetarianism and trying to ban all consumption of meat or harvesting of animals.
I have no problem with vegitarians, but i’m not going to be subjected to a well organized guilt trip based on a bunch of over hyped made up statistics just because someone is trying to cram their lifestly on me be it for the animals or the planet.
The animals arent being abused on the scale you guys represent, and their farts are not going to kill the planet. Otherwise the earth would of blown up a long long time ago.
