New AIP column: ABC News Suppresses Dissident Voices on Health Care

Hey everyone, my newest column at American Issues Project is live, titled ABC Suppresses Dissident Voices on Health Care. It’s about ABC’s Stalin-esque support of our new Dear Leader:

To make things better, any plan that the GOP comes up with, or any other person who doesn’t want to move full-speed ahead with Obamacare, will not be given the chance to even make their voices heard. On June 24th, ABC will be airing an all-Obama special, broadcasting from inside the White House titled “Prescription for America.” ABC is calling it a prime-time, special town hall with the president, but it’s not really a town hall. Opposing viewpoints are not being allowed.

Republicans are specifically being excluded. When RNC Chief of Staff Ken McKay complained, saying that this was basically an infomercial for the DNC and that the DNC should pay for the network’s time if they wouldn’t allow Republicans to take part, ABC balked. Their response was a polite way of telling the RNC to… well, you can imagine. ABC then took it one step further… by not allowing any paid advertisements during the special. One of the ads rejected was offering an alternative viewpoint from Conservatives for Patients Rights (CPR), a powerful ad that showed European citizens and doctors talking about why nationalized health care is a failure, and what it has meant (debilitating pain, near death) for some of them. Of course ABC and Obama wouldn’t want that ad to be shown. And those of us who want to know the whole truth about Obamacare need not worry… Charlie Gibbs and Diane Sawyer are going to ask really, really hard questions!

Perhaps the most surprising – or unsurprising, depending on how you look at it – part of this debacle is the campaign contribution findings. CPR found that ABC employees gave overwhelmingly to Obama; over $160,000 was donated to the Obama campaign, but less than $5,000 went to McCain. But of course, there isn’t any bias there, is there?

Make sure to read the whole thing.

But it’s not censorship or propaganda. They’re presenting every side of the issue worth reporting: obamas side, and the pro-obama side.

I mean anyone else is clearly a fringe radical, racist, and probable rightwing extremists. Why give those people air-time?
