Yesterday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo testified before the Senate. He must have learned control and forbearing when he was a cadet at West Point, the United States Military Academy, because a lesser mortal would not have been able to stand the floodwaters of stupidity coming at him. The Senators of the Foreign Relations Committee proved that they are stupid and useless.
The Senator from my home state of Tennessee (Go Vols!) Bob Corker must be going for an Ineptitude Award. Good thing he is retiring. This recounting of his exchange with Secretary Pompeo is from USA Today:
The committee’s Republican chairman, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, who at times has expressed dissatisfaction with Trump in the bluntest of terms, wasted no time in venting to Pompeo.
In his opening remarks, Corker declared that senators have “serious doubts” about how the administration carries out foreign policy and suggested the White House “is making it up as they go.”
Later, he and Pompeo had an intense exchange when Corker suggested that Trump intentionally creates distrust in institutions like NATO.
Pompeo took issue with Corker’s characterization and argued that Trump has been tougher on Russia than the previous administration.
“I notice that you are not responding to what I’m saying,” Corker said.
“I think I’ve responded to everything,” Pompeo insisted.
“No, you didn’t,” Corker shot back, which prompted Pompeo to say they just disagree.
“No, we don’t disagree,” Corker said. “Let’s run the transcript.”
Poor Bob Corker, once a respected businessman and Mayor of Chattanooga, now just a joke.
Senator Bob Menendez (Doofus-NJ), who was acquitted on corruption charges and admonished for accepting gifts by his colleagues in the Senate, grilled Pompeo with a smug look on his face. Behold:
The look on Secretary Pompeo’s face is absolutely priceless. He knows that Menendez would barely make a squishing sound if stepped on.
What makes all this truly heinous is that President Vladimir Putin funds his failing state with Liquified Natural Gas. Remember how President Donald J. Trump took the brainless German Chancellor Angela Merkel to task for dealing with Russia on Liquified Natural Gas?
Well, what ho? While the stupid U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee was berating Mike Pompeo over Trump being too soft on Putin and Russia, what was Donald Trump doing? Donald Trump was negotiating with the President of European Commission Jean Claude Juncker to buy more American Liquified Natural Gas. Boo freaking yah!
While the Secretary of State was allowing himself to be pilloried by a committee of the stunningly stupid, President Donald Trump was kicking Vladimir Putin “up the arse.” From Bloomberg.com:
Europe will build more terminals to import U.S. liquefied natural gas, the head of the European Commission told U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting aimed at averting a transatlantic trade war.
“They want very much to do that, and we have plenty of it,” Trump said, referring to the U.S. shale boom, which has unleashed record supplies of the heating and power-plant fuel. “They will be a massive buyer, and they will be able to diversify their energy supply.”
Those stupid fools in the U.S. Senate should show respect to the Secretary of State as a representative from a co-equal branch of government. They won’t, and that’s why the Trump Administration will continue to drink their milkshakes.
“Donald Trump was negotiating with the President of European Commission Jean Claude Juncker to buy more American Liquified Natural Gas.” Sill not tired of WINNING!!!
Menendez? Didn’t he fly to Lolita Island or some such place of ill repute? Nothing happened to him?
Ohh…it’s a democrat and shady activities are a résumé enhancer.
Cue the people whining and moaning about corruption and gridlock getting nothing done while the same slimeballs get re-elected every cycle.
Fun story! Just a head’s up though – Russia does not liquefy natural gas. They just pump it as a gas through those pipelines. You only liquefy it if there is no pipeline available.
