Camp David was going to be a happening place this week. Well, it was until the RSVP’s for Obama’s planned 2-day summit with leaders from the 6 countries making up the Gulf Cooperation Council started trickling in. It seems the NO’s are far out-pacing the Yes’s. Hmmm – I wonder why? Perhaps its because, as the LA Times Paul Richter reports, Obama didn’t listen to the admonition they sent over last week:
Between the lines of a bland communique issued last week by six Persian Gulf states was a warning: If Washington won’t help us roll back aggressive moves from Iran and its allies, we will do it ourselves
WOW. It sure seems that there isn’t much confidence in Obama NOR in his and Secretary of State “HUGS” Kerry’s grand Iran Nuclear Treaty deal is there? How’s that bow working out now?
An interesting signal is sent when emirs from Kuwait and Qatar are going to attend and the WSJ’s Jay Solomon, Carol E. Lee, and Ahmed Al Omran find out that:
Saudi Arabia’s monarch pulled out of a summit to be hosted by President Barack Obama on Thursday, in a blow to the White House’s efforts to build Arab support for a nuclear accord with Iran.
King Salman ’s decision appeared to ripple across the Persian Gulf. Bahrain said on Sunday that its ruler, King Hamad bin Isaa Al Khalifa, had opted not to travel to Washington.
OH SNAP! That’s gonna leave a mark. When a major Camp David summit is planned and most of the leaders of the countries invited to the summit decide not to show up; I’d pay VERY close attention to the signals those countries are sending to the United States and the world. And no matter which way you slice it, Obama has been snubbed.
At the moment there is all sorts of PR language being used about how several of the leaders won’t be attending because of health concerns or other issues. However, when those who are slated to attend in their place aren’t necessarily high-ranking officials… therein lies the reason, the concern, the SNUB:
Abdulkhaleq Abdullah, a professor of political science at Emirates University, told the Associated Press Gulf leaders were staying away to signal their displeasure over the nuclear talks.
“I don’t think they have a deep respect, a deep trust for Obama and his promises. There is a fundamental difference between his vision of post-nuclear-deal Iran and their vision,” he said. “They think Iran is a destabilizing force and will remain so, probably even more, if the sanctions are lifted. … They’re just not seeing things eye to eye.”
The other day we discussed here how the treaty with Iran is detrimental to U.S. National Security. Rep. Tom Cotton has been a champion at articulating how bad this Iran deal really is for our country and for the world. And now its very apparent that the countries that will be directly and immediately affected by the implementation of the ill-advised agreement/treaty with Iran have signaled a No-Confidence snub to the Obama… Houston, we have a SERIOUS problem on our hands.
“I think we are looking for some form of security guarantee, given the behavior of Iran in the region, given the rise of the extremist threat,” Yousef al-Otaiba, the United Arab Emirates’ ambassador to the United States, told the Associated Press. “In the past, we have survived with a gentleman’s agreement with the United States about security. I think today, we need something in writing. We need something institutionalized.”
The Gulf States recognize that Iran is a serious threat to the region and the world. They are certain that Iran is on the move, that their public criticism of this craptastic deal SHOULDN’T be muted, that there has been zero progress made to alleviate differences between our country and theirs, and that this so-called summit is all a big ole ball of fluff.
Obama has been issued a very Royal SNUB by four of the six Gulf States and make no mistake; it’s not because of a tea and cookies summit at Camp David. They are signaling in a very big way that they don’t believe anything the current U.S. Administration is peddling.
4 out of 6 are not attending, or are sending low level officials…that says a lot. Will Obumblebutt listen? Well, our narcissistic PINO never has listened to anyone before, so, he’ll probably stomp his foot and pout, go ahead with who is coming, and pretend that everything is A-OK. One thing he’d best not do is start treating Saudi Arabia like he has Israel and Jordan…..but, Obumble is as dumb as a sack of marshmallows, with about as much diplomatic common sense……..
Even Lurch won’t be able to charm this situation with James Taylor, no matter what he sings.
