Payback’s a bitch, isn’t it, CNN?
CNN and its cohorts in the mainstream media had their collective panties in a wad after This Happened. President-elect Donald Trump refused to respond to CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who kept badgering him about Russia. Trump slammed CNN as “fake news.”
Now Acosta is whining that Trump press secretary Sean Spicer threatened to “throw him out” of the conference. Oh, cry me a river.
Fox News’s Neil Cavuto entered the fray, furthering the humiliation of CNN.
Cavuto, who hosts “Your World,” which deals more with business, is usually pretty mild-mannered in his commentary. But not this past week. Cavuto fired a shot across CNN’s bow, taunting them with his opening remarks: “How’s all that going down, CNN? How does it feel to be dismissed? Or worse, ignored?”
Here’s the video. Enjoy the delicious Schadenfreude.
For the past eight years, CNN and other news outlets have fawned over President Obama. Obama has not only attacked the more conservative Fox News in rallies in order to whip up the crowds, but in interviews as well. Even after Trump trounced Hillary Clinton, he complained to Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone about “Fox News in every bar and restaurant in big chunks of the country.”
Now Fox News has gained its place at the head table, and CNN has been designated to sit with the kiddies. Ideally, it shouldn’t be this way. In a less polarized nation, media should be adversarial to America’s leaders when they need to be, and supportive of their more worthy actions, especially in times of crisis. But this is the nation that we have become, and much of it can be placed squarely at the feet of a liberal media, who are now chafing under the brusque tone of a man whom they feel is beneath their respect. They’re an elite media who have long held conservatives and their favorite network in withering contempt. Now, in the closing words of Cavuto in his commentary, it’s “very different now, isn’t it? And I suspect not much fun, is it?”
The next four years will bring confrontations between the liberal press and President Trump that will be nearly worth Pay-Per-View status, while Fox News and its viewers will be sitting back and enjoying the show. In the word of Maximus from the movie Gladiator: “Are you not entertained?”
Kim is a pint-sized patriot who packs some big contradictions. She is a Baby Boomer who never became a hippie, an active Republican who first registered as a Democrat (okay, it was to help a sorority sister's father in his run for sheriff), and a devout Lutheran who practices yoga. Growing up in small-town Indiana, now living in the Kansas City metro, Kim is a conservative Midwestern gal whose heart is also in the Seattle area, where her eldest daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live. Kim is a working speech pathologist who left school system employment behind to subcontract to an agency, and has never looked back. She describes her conservatism as falling in the mold of Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles. Don't know what they are? Google them!
