I don’t give a fat rat’s bald backside what you think of former President Donald Trump. The former First Lady, his wife, Melania Trump is a gracious and beautiful woman. When I read last night that Mrs. Trump would be presiding over a Naturalization Ceremony where immigrants would become citizens of our country, I was jubilant. We have missed that her brand of quiet stylishness on our National stage.
To commemorate National Bill of Rights Day (the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution), the National Archives arranged a swearing-in ceremony for 25 immigrants from 25 nations. Mrs. Trump was invited to be the keynote speaker and describe her journey from immigrant to citizen. When Melania stated, “It is my privilege to share this great nation with you.” in her address, my heart burst open. What a magnificent way to put it.
Here are some of her words from Newsweek:
“It is a life-altering experience that takes time, determination, and sometimes even tremendous strength,” the former first lady said. “You are now a part of a nation with a rich history of progress, innovation, and resilience. Though you come from 25 different countries, your dreams and inspirations intertwine with those who came before you since 1776, and together shape the future of this extraordinary country.”
That is so much of what we miss about Melania Trump. Bringing us together. Knitting us together. Intertwining all of our stories together in that rich history of progress, innovation and resilience. Squee.
Before Mrs. Trump spoke teenagers from McCarter High School read the Preamble to the Constitution.

I wish they would have sung it. This is the way all kids should learn the Preamble:
Awww, those are such satisfying words.
More from Melania in Newsweek:
“My personal experience of traversing the challenges of the immigration process opened my eyes to the harsh realities people face, including you, who try to become U.S. citizens,” she said. “Then, of course, there are nuances of understanding the United States immigration laws and the complex legal language contained therein. I was very devoted, but I certainly was not an attorney.”
Melania was sworn in as a U.S. citizen shortly after the birth of her son Barron, who she shares with Donald, in 2006. When her husband became president in 2017, she became the second naturalized woman, behind Louisa Adams, to become first lady.
“While challenges were numerous, the rewards were well worth the effort. I applaud you for every step you took, every obstacle you overcome, and every sacrifice you made,” she said. “It is an honor to stand with you in these hallowed halls today in the presence of the Declaration of Independence.”
My Naturalized neighbors are from India, Pakistan, Syria and Guatemala. I am so proud of them. I am proud of the former First Lady for her inspiring words. Welcome to the 25 new citizens at the National Archives. Now, sing it with me:
“We the people, in order to form a more perfect nation….”
Notice I did not mention the National Archives’ jihad against President Trump or how the ugly mob always goes after Melania. Comments were turned off on X for most of the posts about Mrs. Trump. Me, let us celebrate our wonderful new legal citizens. Hip, Hip Hooray!

Thank you for this story,Toni, we rarely hear anything good anymore about anything! This warms my heart, and proves my point that America is her people, first and foremost. We will prevail!
You can tell I grew up in the Sixties and Seventies. Thanks to Schoolhouse Rock, I always sing the Preamble.

Among the best measures of the quality of a man is the quality of his wife. Melania Knauss Trump says more about the integrity and quality of Donald Trump than anything else anyone has said or could say.
