If you have got a good enough grift you can keep it going for a long time. Lucien Greaves, the co-founder and spokesperson for the Satanic Temple wants to force Florida Schools to allow his group to be Chaplains in public schools, and thereby be a poison pill to religion in schools. Back in April of this year, Governor Ron DeSantis signed HB 031 to allow volunteer Chaplains in schools and Lucien Greaves said “Hail, Satan”.
Florida HB 931 is a bill meant to address students’ mental health needs. It outlines a policy Florida school districts and charters could use to implement volunteer school chaplain programs. Here’s an overview of what the bill entails:
Policy adoption: School districts or charter schools may adopt a policy authorizing volunteer school chaplains to provide support, services and programs to students as assigned by the district school board or charter school governing board.
Just like that accomplished demon Screwtape of The Screwtape Letters, Lucien Greaves saw an opportunity to spread his particular brand of ignorance and condescension. From The Hill:
Florida Satanists are volunteering to fill school counselor roles after Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a law allowing religious chaplains into public schools amid staffing shortages.
“Nothing in the text of the bill serves to exclude us, and no credible interpretation of the First Amendment could. Should a school district now choose to have chaplains, they should expect Satanists to participate as well,” Lucien Greaves, cofounder and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, said in a statement to The Hill on Monday.
Victory Girls has been aware of Lucien Greaves since 2015. Our dear Carol last wrote about his Satanic Temple in January of this year. Greaves’ group was allowed to place a Satanic holiday statue in the Iowa statehouse. Michael Cassidy, a Navy vet traveling there on business from Louisiana, beheaded the statue. Love him. You can read Carol’s full post here.
Here’s what Lucien said about his “win”:
Benevolence and empathy. From that prig? Right.
As you would expect Greaves is a Harvard graduate. Here is a portion of an interview with Vice from over a decade ago:
VICE: Is the Satanic Temple a satanic, or a satirical group?
Doug: That is a common question. I say why can’t it be both? We are coming from a solid philosophy that we absolutely believe in and adhere to. This is Satanism, and to us it couldn’t be called anything other than Satanism. However, our metaphor of Satan is a literary construct inspired by authors such as Anatole France and Milton—a rebel angel defiant of autocratic structure and concerned with the material world. Satanism as a rejection of superstitious supernaturalism. This Satan, of course, bears no resemblance to the embodiment of all cruelty, suffering, and negativity believed in by some apocalyptic segments of Judeo-Christian culture. The word Satan has no inherent value. If one acts with compassion in the name of Satan, one has still acted with compassion. Our very presence as civic-minded socially responsible Satanists serves to satirize the ludicrous superstitious fears that the word Satan tends to evoke.
Doug Messner is the birthname of Lucien Greaves. Civic-minded is hardly what one would call the “ritual abortion” that the Satanic Temple teaches from MSN:
“What’s it like to have a Satanic abortion? For Jessica* [a fake name to keep the woman anonymous], a 37-year-old mother of three who received abortion medication via Samuel Alito’s Mom’s Satanic Clinic, ‘the experience was just very supportive,’” Cosmopolitan wrote in an Instagram post. “While she’s not a Satanist, Jessica decided to incorporate a few ceremonial elements into her solo abortion experience. ‘Why not?’ she thought. The overall messaging just clicked with her.”
The post shared a series of slides elaborating on the steps of how to have a ritualized abortion ceremony as prescribed by The Satanic Temple. This included steps such as staring at one’s reflection before taking an abortion pill and saying, “One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.”The ritual is later concluded by declaring, “By my body, my blood; by my will, it is done.”
The slides also attest one can “include as many loved ones as they’d like” in the ceremony and “light candles or even dress up — whatever makes them feel empowered.”
This all sounds perfect for a school Chaplain.
"In the depths of his ignorance, @GovRonDeSantis fails to recognize a basic and fundamental constitutional truism: it is no place of the government to dictate that some religions have certain rights over others."https://t.co/a3OGHbJnSR

Lucien Greaves in the depths of his own ignorance and with an incalculable amount of condescension shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near children.
