Laura Loomer is an unhinged clown. Now she’s decided to demand that any Medal of Honor recipient must check the correct political box before visiting the Pentagon. Yes really. She’s set her sights on MOH recipient Captain Florent Groberg (Ret).

Groberg RUSHED at and tackled a suicide bomber in order to save his men.
As the patrol observed the motorcyclists, Groberg also spotted a lone individual near the left side of the formation, walking backwards in the direction of the patrol. The individual did not cause immediate alarm as there were other local civilians in the area.
However, when the individual made an abrupt turn toward the formation, Groberg rushed the suspect and shoved him away from the patrol. Groberg then immediately confirmed the individual was wearing a suicide vest, and with the help of Sgt. Andrew Mahoney, a fellow Soldier with the PSD, grabbed the suicide bomber, physically driving him away from the formation and down to the ground.
While on the ground, the bomber’s explosive vest detonated. The explosion caused a second suicide bomber, who remained hidden behind a small structure near the road, to detonate his vest prematurely. Most of the blast of the second bomber’s suicide vest went straight into a building, adjacent to the patrol.
Groberg’s actions disrupted both bombers from detonating as planned, saving the majority of lives he was charged with protecting.
How Groberg emerged from that alive is a flat out miracle. As it is, he lost most of his left leg, and four of his men were killed by the secondary blast.
“We defeated the enemy on that day. We sent a message that no matter how bad you want to hurt us, we’re always going to keep standing up and bringing it back twice fold on you. But it was the worst day of my life, because even though we defeated the enemy, I lost four of my brothers.”
But according to Laura Loomer, Groberg should not be allowed in the Pentagon. Why? Because he dared to speak at the 2016 Democrat National Convention, where most of the attendees boo’d him because they hate the military.
This Loomer clown is literally demanding that all members of the military, even Medal of Honor recipients must pass that political litmus test before being allowed to opine about anything, let alone be allowed near or into the Pentagon.
And she kept digging all the holes for herself.
The Washington Post decided to “help.”
The Medal of Honor is the United States’ highest recognition for combat valor, and the Defense Department has long celebrated the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by the award’s recipients, putting Loomer’s criticism deeply at odds with one of the more sacrosanct aspects of American military culture. Yet given her considerable influence and frequent visits with Trump — she has taken credit for the administration’s ouster of several appointees whom she branded insufficiently loyal — Loomer’s broadside late Friday night appears certain to force an uncomfortable discussion at the Pentagon and, potentially, within the White House.
No, there should be absolutely ZERO uncomfortable discussions about this. Any and all Medal of Honor recipients do not and should not be required to check certain political boxes just because an unhinged loon like Laura Loomer demands it.
Medal of Honor recipients are our nation’s heroes of the highest order. They have that honor because of their actions on the battlefield that demonstrate courage beyond measure. Living recipients of the MOH are reluctant heroes because of the burdens they carry, of the men they couldn’t save, and because the honor bestowed upon them is part of the very fabric of greatness of this nation.
No one, and I mean NO ONE gets to demand that they demonstrate their loyalty by checking a certain political box.
The Medal is A Political. The person wearing it doesn’t have to be. If anyone has earned the right to free speech or to have an opinion it’s a man who threw himself in front of a suicide bomber to save lives.

I can answer that. Laura Loomer has done nothing but be a shrill unhinged political hack. She is a detriment to ANY political party and absolutely should not be listened to.
It's the anniversary of the action for which he received the Medal of Honor- which took his leg, which killed my friend Tom Kennedy, and in which Groberg saved the life of current Vice Chief of Staff of the Army.

She is demanding that Medal of Honor recipients adhere to HER vision of loyalty without even once considering what it is that they did on the battlefield where politics wasn’t a factor. She’s demanding this while dismissing the fact that our nation’s MOH recipients have much to offer the men and women in our military REGARDLESS of political affiliation.
Laura Loomer’s attack is despicable. As are the responses of those who agree with her. Medal of Honor recipients do NOT go into the service planning to ‘get’ this medal. They don’t ‘plan’ for that right moment where they end up having to tackle suicide bombers and get nearly blown to pieces in order to save their men.
The medal itself is a piece of metal. The recipient has every Constitutional right to chose what party affiliation they have, and no one can demand otherwise. Was I personally disappointed that he spoke at the DNC? Yes. Does that mean I get to demand he stay away from the Pentagon if the Commander in Chief is a Republican? Absolutely NOT.
Laura Loomer stepped in it big time with her unhinged rant against Medal of Honor Recipient Capt Florent Groberg (Ret).

Cameron says: Honestly, I don’t care about the man’s political leanings. Hell, I’ll even forgive him for being Army. He’s a Medal of Honor recipient and while that does not make him above reproach, he can speak wherever he wants.
Wfjag says: Service members have significant restrictions on their 1st Amendment rights under the UCMJ and Hatch Act. Captain Groberg was medically retired in July 2015. That removed any restrictions which abridged his rights of free speech.
I don’t have to agree with him to honor his service and sacrifice. And, in contrast to the prior administration, President Trump is not attempting to censor and silence people who may disagree with him – since he remembers that freedom of speech does not imply freedom from consequences. Let people expose their ignorance — and, BTW Laura, the word is “apolitical”.
I would note that Benedict Arnold served the Revolution with great distinction before his betrayal.
Now, I do not throw around the word “traitor” as easily as Loomer or some others – but Cpt. Groberg was, and maybe still is, a useful idiot for those who are definitely traitors to our Constitutional Republic.
Military service, even at the most honorable level, does NOT excuse later dishonorable actions.

While I will NEVER understand how anyone who has served honorably could vote for a party that actively works to destroy our nation, there can be NO question that anyone who has received the MOH has earned the right to say whatever they want, wherever they want, no matter how much we might disagree with what they’re saying.
Of course they do! As does ANY citizen of this country – whether it’s a cowardly putz like Tim Walz, or some other Medal of Honor recipient, or anyone in between. That’s what his honorable actions were defending – and what his dishonorable actions at the convention were attacking.
