Kat VonD disqualifies artist for supporting Trump?

Not a fan of Mr. Trump for so many reasons. But the clowns to the left of me do not help things.   Contest winners have to be politically correct in Hollywood’s distorted world? What about women who buy Kat VonD cosmetics? I bought a Kat Von D lipstick a while back from Sephora in JC Penney. Why? I liked the color, liked the staying power of the lip paint and I like Sephora and Ulta (my budget and my husband have a different opinion) and am glad to try new products. Ms. VonD like a lot of celebrities has a political opinion and is happy to tweet it. Which is fine and she has that first amendment right. What is not so fine (and makes me want to never purchase another thing she makes) is stunts like this

An Instagram post showing support for President Donald Trump apparently disqualified a local makeup artist from a national contest.

Really? Because makeup is political?

Gypsy Freeman, who splits time between Wichita and Florida, last month was declared the winner of an Instagram contest sponsored by Kat Von D Beauty, according to screenshots taken by Freeman.

The makeup line is saint and sinner and this was her winning entry.

And what happened next is disturbing.

When Freeman was announced as the winner, curious Instagrammers went to her page and found a pro-Trump post from Election Day last year.

Social Justice Warriors came out to play. And Ms. Freeman found out her support of Trump conflicts with the personal views of Kat Von D.

That evening, she received a direct message from Kat Von D’s personal Instagram account, telling her the celebrity had “drawn a personal line in the sand between myself and anyone who supports that man,” according to screenshots of the conversation.

Yet you mass market your makeup and brand to places like JC Penney and don’t have a purity test to buy the stuff? I guess politics is convenient when you can look like a big hero in public? Noted.

“My launch party [and my brand] celebrates many things that Trump is against,” the celebrity went on to say, according to the screenshots. “And I just need you to know that I personally have a hard time with inviting anyone who would support such an anti-feminist, anti-homosexual/LGBT, anti-immigrant, and anti-climate change fascist such as Trump.”

That’s nice. I personally will have a hard time spending money on your beauty line. And we are not going to talk about your interesting history regarding cosplaying SS fiancé’s (Jesse James went full stupid)? And the contest set the rules for no Trump fans, right?

All evidence of the contest’s existence has since been deleted from the brand’s Instagram account and website, though the contest rules are available in a cached version of the site. The rules state that any legal U.S. resident 18 or older was eligible to win and could enter by submitting a “Saint and Sinner inspired” makeup look.

Note Kat Von D will take money from people who support Trump: Sephora does not have an ideology test at the front of the store or Penney’s boutique in order to purchase her makeup or fragrance line. And Kat Von D can say and think what she wants and act on it. There will likely be a financial impact for doing so. Because free speech does not make it immune to consequences.

Freeman – who does fashion editorial, styling and a variety of bridal work – said she has used Kat Von D Beauty products in her makeup kit for years, though she will likely stop doing so. She said she plans to contact Sephora, which sells the product line, about the incident as well.

A bit of advice from a consumer. If Kat Von D wants to restrict her sales to people who agree with her, she can open a boutique. As for her products, I like Tarte’s lip paint better for one simple reason: it stays on my lips not my water bottle where Kat Von D’s smears. And with her posturing and silliness, I will take my makeup without a side of sanctimony thanks.

Consistent liberal behavior. “Diversity of viewpoints that agree with mine”.

    Well said Gail and Kevin

There’s an argument that a contract was entered into, and calling the whole thing off doesn’t affect that at all. So, possible monetary consequences for VonD. (Which, btw, is in idiotic affectation – “VonD”? Really? You know that’s not the real name.)

As to the posturing, it’s just that – posturing. How do I know? Well…
Would she let me wander into her place of business, day or night, uninvited? Not likely. She’d probably have me thrown out, at the least.
Does she jet around the world for fashion shows and such? Probably. I really doubt she takes a form of transportation that uses a renewable source (like a sailboat).
Does she know what fascism is? I highly doubt it. Or, she wouldn’t be doing her stupid act in public.

There are days I wish we could have another plague. I’m just stymied figuring out how to define the crowd of virtue-signaling, more-educated-than-smart fascisti in a way that a virus would understand……..

We can save a lot of typing in the next eight years if we all agree to use NAFOTB (Not a fan of Trump, but).
