Kash Patel Announced As New FBI Director, Cue The Elites’ Panic

This is one of those circumstances where you know the choice of Kash Patel as FBI director is a good one, because all the right people are freaking out, and those who want to see the Deep State elites neutered are applauding.

The announcement was formally made yesterday by the Trump transition team.

Kash Patel comes with an impressive resume, so it’s not his lack of qualifications that has the Deep State’s panties in a twist.

Patel, 44, is an attorney with experience in national security, intelligence and counterterrorism and helped uncover the bureau’s surveillance of the Trump campaign and first term. He has been a member of Trump’s transition team, advising the administration on other appointments.

Patel is widely seen as a staunch Trump loyalist who will implement Trump’s desired reforms within the agency. During the first Trump administration, he served as senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council and later as the chief of staff for acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, from 2020-2021.

Patel has been a fierce critic of bureaucracy and corruption. In 2023, Patel published a book called “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy,” which delved into “the major players and tactics within the permanent government bureaucracy,” according to the book’s description.

The attorney started his career as a public defender in Florida’s Miami-Dade County after attending the University of Richmond and earning a law degree from Pace University in New York and a certificate in international law from University College London Faculty of Laws.

In 2014, Patel became a federal prosecutor at the Department of Justice National Security Division, a role in which he led prosecutions against members of Al-Qaeda, ISIS and other terror groups.

Patel has served in several roles in the federal government, including most recently as the chief of staff to the Department of Defense and Deputy Assistant to President Trump during Trump’s first term. Prior to his Pentagon stint, Patel served as deputy director of National Intelligence and as deputy assistant to the president on the National Security Council.

Before joining the first Trump administration, Patel served as the national security advisor and senior counsel for the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), where he
reported to Committee Chair Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif. In that role, he helped to oversee the House probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and uncovered unlawful surveillance of the Trump campaign by the FBI and DOJ.

So in other words, Kash Patel has seen the ugly side of the Deep State and the damage that it has caused, and as FBI director could quite literally take a chainsaw to the place. I’m failing to see the problem here. Oh wait, Andrew McCabe – yes, THAT Andrew McCabe – is complaining about it.

Boo-freaking-hoo. As Representative Mike Lawler pointed out, if people committed crimes in their official roles and Kash Patel goes after them, then too bad for them.

“Donald Trump campaigned on reforming the F.B.I. and the Department of Justice, so I don’t know why any of this is frankly surprising to people,” Mr. Lawler said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “The American people aren’t interested in a revenge tour. But obviously if people did wrong in their official capacities, that’s something they should be concerned about.”

The elites are also in a tizzy because announcing that Kash Patel will be FBI director means that Donald Trump will have to fire Christopher Wray. Again, given how Wray has run the FBI after replacing James Comey (also fired by Trump), I’m failing to see the issue. Especially given that Wray had a Democrat blasting him just a little over a week ago for blowing off Congressional testimony.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) said both Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and FBI Director Christopher Wray “refused to appear” before the panel for its annual hearing about threats to the homeland, saying it was the first time in 15 years officials have done so.

“Americans deserve transparent, public answers about the threats we face. Secretary Mayorkas and Director Wray’s refusal to speak publicly about their department’s work will only increase the concerns that many Americans have about our nation’s security at a challenging time, flout the Committee’s efforts to conduct responsible oversight, and will deal a serious blow to trust in our government. Their claims that they can only relay such information and respond to questions in a classified setting are entirely without merit,” Peters said in a statement.

“It cannot be the practice of the Executive Branch to deny the public critical information and disregard Congress’ constitutionally recognized right to conduct oversight.”

The FBI claimed that Wray would be happy to testify behind closed doors, but Senator Peters – again, a DEMOCRAT – was rightfully pissed off.

Speaking with reporters later Thursday, Peters said he “vigorously pursued them to be here,” noting that the panel would have kept the traditional closed session that follows the open hearing.

“Both of them said they did not want to testify in an open setting. That was unacceptable. The American people have a right to hear from them…. The Department of Homeland Security put out a 40-page document talking about threats to the homeland. There would be questions surrounding that document that members would want to ask,” Peters said, referring to DHS’s annual threat assessment.

“They are in key positions in the federal government, and their job is to respond to congressional oversight.”

Note the date. Wray and Mayorkas blew off this open testimony on November 21st. What happened the day before? Oh yes, the conviction of Laken Riley’s murderer. No wonder these cowards didn’t want to show up in front of the Senate Homeland Security Committee with the cameras rolling!

Christopher Wray is the exact reason that Kash Patel is getting the job at the FBI.

No one can stop Donald Trump from firing Wray, and everyone knows it. He should start packing up his office now. Kash Patel might face some interesting questions during Senate confirmation, but he is definitely sharp enough to deal with it.

Again, January 20th can’t come soon enough.
