John Fetterman, the Democrat Pennsylvania Senator, seems to be the only Democrat who takes the job of representation seriously. He’s busy meeting with Donald Trump’s cabinet picks so he can make an informed decision. Huh. How about that?
Dear All Politicians in DC, Please take note of Fetterman’s actions. Yes. Him.
“I believe that it’s appropriate and the responsibility of a U.S. senator to have a conversation with President-elect Trump’s nominees. That’s why I met with Elise Stefanik and Pete Hegseth, just wrapped with Tulsi Gabbard, and look forward to my meetings with others soon,” Fetterman declared in a post on X.
“My votes will come from an open mind and an informed opinion after having a conversation with them. That’s not controversial, it’s my job,” he continued. – Fox News
I’m old enough to remember watching his campaign and thinking, “There is no way in hell that this man should be in the Senate.” His stroke really did a number on him. After he won, he had to go into “recovery mode,” and thank goodness he did. It seemed to help.
He’s still a Democrat, and we should remain vigilant. But lately, he has been saying all the right things.
Fetterman showed up on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday for a pre-recorded chat with co-anchor Jonathan Karl that ran for over 10 minutes.
NEW: Senator John Fetterman says Trump won because he protects the American way of life, says Trump is not a fascist like Kamala Harris claimed.
Fetterman says he knows a lot of Democrats in Pennsylvania who voted for Trump.

And I think the most important thing he said in that interview was the following regarding Trump:
“I’m not rooting against him,” the Democratic senator said. “If you’re rooting against the president, you are rooting against the nation. And and I’m not ever going to be where I want a president to fail. So, country first. I know that’s become maybe like a cliche, but it happens to be true.” – Fox News
Shazam! I am practically speechless over this from a Democrat. How refreshing.
Not only is he doing the work of meeting with Trump’s cabinet nominees, but he is also saying good things about Donald Trump himself. And pointing out to his own party that they are being dolts. My words, not his.
Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has had several blunt assessments of what went wrong with last month’s decisive Democratic losses, and said Sunday he believes labeling President-elect Donald Trump a “fascist” was one of them.
Vice President Kamala Harris and many of her campaign allies decried Trump as a “fascist” in the closing weeks of the presidential campaign, but ultimately, Trump defeated her in the ensuing election, sweeping all seven swing states. Fetterman, who represents one of those swing states in the Senate, told ABC News’s This Week that he thinks the pitch that Trump was a “fascist” was part of what did not work for Harris’s campaign. – Washington Examiner
John Fetterman emphasized that many Trump supporters do not identify with extreme labels, noting, “I happen to love people who are going to vote for Trump, and they are not fascist.” He suggested that voters were more concerned with choosing a candidate who aligns with their vision of the American way of life.
The now seemingly sage Senator thinks the Democratic Party’s messaging might have failed to resonate with voters. He suggests the party examine people’s concerns and find better ways to connect.
Elizabeth Warren and Chuck Schumer should take note.
Here is the interview if you care to watch it.
Good for John Fetterman. Join me in raising a glass of eggnog and toasting his open attitude and his actual job as a senator: representing his state’s interests.
While the Victory Girls have written several articles about Fetterman, ranging from bizarre to buoyant in tone, I hope we can agree that we wish him well and continued good health in the New Year.
Donald Trump won Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral votes, a big change from 2020 when the state-backed Joe Biden.
John Fetterman knows the deal.
