Because former President Jimmy Carter’s thinking isn’t quite muddled up enough, he said yesterday during a panel discussion that he was actually in favor of legalizing marijuana. Okay. My only thought on this is that Jimmy Carter must approve of legalizing marijuana because that way, people who are stoned won’t dwell too terribly much on just how horrible his Presidency was.
Here’s what he said about legalizing pot The Hill:
“I’m in favor of it. I think it’s OK,” Carter said at the forum, which was taped Friday. “I don’t think it’s going to happen in Georgia yet, but I think we can watch and see what happens in the state of Washington, for instance around Seattle, and let the American government and let the American people see does it cause a serious problem or not.”
By the way, Jimmy Carter also reminds everyone that he called for the decriminalization — “not the legalization” — of marijuana way back during his single feckless term in the White House.
Could Jimmy Carter be a closet stoner? This would explain so, so much.
