There is a bunch of mostly men getting their knickers in a twist over President Donald Trump and Greenland. The President wants Denmark to make a deal with the United States over Greenland and there are those who fear Trump will blow up NATO over this minor kerfuffle. “What a bunch of maroons”, to quote Bugs Bunny.
First of all, slow your heartbeat there, son. We heard this same worry from much the same crowd when in 2019 Trump asked them to pay their 2% NATO dues. At the time, the United States was paying 22%:
As the 2019 North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit continues in London, the Trump Administration has reportedly made an agreement prior to the meeting for the U.S. to pay less into the bloc.
Trump has long complained about amount that the United States contributes to NATO. In 2019, it was the highest contributor at $730 billion.
The U.S. will go from contributing 22% of NATO’s budget to 16%, CNN and The Hill reported.
It’s a symbolic move since NATO’s current budget is only $2.5 billion.
NATO members have agreed to pledge 2% of their GDP to their defense budgets. Only 8 of the 29 members met that goal, The Hill reported.
After the United States, the United Kingdom has the second most expenditures at $63 billion.
It is followed by Germany at $54 billion.
Remember now? NATO didn’t get blown up then and will not now. Unless they all decide they don’t want to play like nice children anymore. That’s possible. The NATO Summit will be in July in Ankara, Turkey. Not too promising.
For now everyone is headed to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. The main threat isn’t Iran or China or Russia, but Donald J. Trump. He threatens their nice little, comfy club. They are all doing each other dirty behind each other’s backs but they smile and simper. Per Ukrainska Pravda:
EU leaders and delegations who are set to meet US President Donald Trump or his representatives on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, are preparing to shift their focus away from Ukraine towards Greenland and the announcement of new US tariffs.
EU leaders had been preparing to spend this week in Davos persuading Trump to provide security guarantees for post-war Ukraine. Instead, they have woken up to the question of whether his promises can be trusted at all.
The storm surrounding Trump’s desire to take control of Greenland has escalated from a bilateral dispute into what the article describes as the most serious threat to NATO in decades and the deepest rift in transatlantic relations.
A European diplomat said that EU leaders and their delegations due to meet Trump and US officials in Davos are tearing up their notes and replacing them with what the source described as a carrot-and-stick approach – outlining how Brussels could respond to Trump’s tariffs alongside proposals for de-escalation.
The diplomat said it was unclear how anyone could sit down at the negotiating table with Trump and discuss his security guarantees for Ukraine, adding that he could not be trusted unless reality itself were “switched off”.
Reality switched off?
NATO is shaking in their boots and sent more troops to Greenland, right?
Europe just 'declared war' on Trump… by sending 34 troops to Greenland?? 😂🤡
Denmark + NATO allies deploy a handful of soldiers as a 'bluff' to stop him buying the island.
Meanwhile, Trump rolls into Davos 2026 with 300+ power players to END the WEF forever!

The League of Women Voters in Mississippi is scarier than those 34 troops.
This, though, is hysterically funny. From the New York Times:
President Trump is now claiming that one reason he is pushing to acquire Greenland is that he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize, according to a text message he sent to Norway’s prime minister over the weekend.
Jonas Gahr Store, Norway’s leader, received the text message on Sunday, an official in the prime minister’s office said on Monday.
“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Mr. Trump wrote in the message, which was first published by PBS.
Mr. Trump also questioned Denmark’s claim to Greenland, saying, “There are no written documents,” and adding, “The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you!”
The tensions over Greenland have sharply escalated in the last week, and the message injected a new level of uncertainty into Mr. Trump’s thinking and his campaign to gain control of the island.
Now that’s funny. Those people got all upset that Maria Carina Machado gifted her Nobel Peace Prize to Trump and so he threw the joke back at them. These people had their senses of humor surgically removed.
Speaking of having your sense of humor surgically removed, remember the 34 troops that moved into Greenland, Senator Mark Warner is worried about our military facing them
That guy has bad TDS and no humor. Davos should be a hoot next week. Go Trump. Get us a good deal for Greenland.
