Maybe I over-use the word “seriously” but SERIOUSLY?!? The President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, is planning to meet with members of the Occupy Wall Street movement while in New York City for the UN General Assembly this week?

Of course who knows if this is true or not. It comes from a report today in an “official” news outlet of the Iranian regime. It’s so ridiculous, that its been picked up by a wide variety of sources in the states including here and here.

But interestingly enough OWS says they are not meeting with Ahmadinejad. When asked if the rumor of a meeting with the Insanely Evil Leader was true or not, an OWS spokesperson had this to say:

“Personally,” she explained, “I was working with the group CODEPINK several years ago when Ahmadinejad came to [New York] and held a meeting to discuss global issues. I imagine this is the same. We have no idea who is organizing the meeting and how they came up with this story.”

“I’ve been trying to reach someone from Fars to ask them who they are talking about. Anyone going is doing so as an individual,” Balicki said. “There is no organized effort on behalf of OWS to meet with Ahmadinejad. This smells like a propaganda effort to me.” But getting a correction isn’t easy: “In fact, when you e-mail them, it bounces and there are no phone numbers listed. Amazing news agency.”

First let me say, I’m not surprised that the spokesperson for OWS once worked with CodePink but I digress. Secondly, who really cares if Ahmadinejad and Occupy Wall Street actually DO meet to discuss each other virtues? It will be a short meeting to say the least.
