By any definition, what Iran did in launching drones and missiles at Israel last weekend should be considered an act of war.
Iran claimed that they were striking back for turning their Quds General Sayyed Razi Mousavi into a pothole in Syria – but Israel had good reason to take out Mousavi last December.
Mousavi was responsible for coordinating the military alliance between Iran and Syria and was believed by Israel to have been heavily involved in Tehran’s efforts to supply weapons to terror proxies in the area, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group.
Iran used Mousavi’s death as a pretext to attack Israel – an attack that they gave plenty of warning was coming, and even sought permission from the United States to conduct by using Turkey as a middleman by asking how far they could go. Three hundred drones and missiles was apparently the limit, with Biden then telling Israel they would not be supported if they struck back, and Iran trying to declare the entire thing “over” unless Israel came after them.
That is not how Israel saw it. Even if the attack ended up being repelled, with minimal casualties and damage, the intent was evident. So when the news broke last night that there were explosions in certain place in Iran, was anyone really surprised?
Iran’s Fars news agency said an explosion was heard at an airport in the central city of Isfahan but the cause was not immediately known. Iran suspended flights over the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran, state media reported.
Several Iranian nuclear sites are located in Isfahan province, including Natanz, centerpiece of Iran’s uranium enrichment program.
ABC News reported that it was an Israeli strike, as did several other media outlets.

The Pentagon was not officially confirming anything right away, but the United States was apparently notified beforehand that the strike was going to happen.
However, confirmation did seem to be coming from Senator Marco Rubio.

Iran was quickly trying to cover for what happened, including blaming birds in the Isfahan sky, and then claiming that everything incoming had been “intercepted” and there hadn’t been any explosions on the ground. It seems like the Islamic Republic of Iran is not being forthcoming about what happened in Isfahan. As you can guess, that puts the Iran syncophants in the media and in the former Obama circle at a loss to figure out the messaging.

But it’s pretty clear that Israel did something to Iran, and Iran looks to be backing off. There are also reports that Iranian proxies were hit in Iraq and Syria. If Israel did, in fact, place some booms in sensitive spots, that would explain why Iran is trying to avoid making a big deal about what happened.
The way the Islamic Republic is already desperately downplaying tonight’s response suggests that it was effective in clearly signaling the line and they are now looking for an off-ramp to return to the previous understanding of the rules of engagement. https://t.co/HnZpTsmwPz

Depending on what did actually get hit (and we may not know for a while, if ever), Iran could react in many different ways. The fact that they are claiming that nothing happened and/or they shot everything down, says that they may have already shot their wad at Israel and know they can’t escalate any further. Or, they know that the Iranian people are not going to stand for a war with Israel, so the leaders will pivot to funding their proxies like Hezbollah.
What this entire situation clearly says is that Joe Biden is visibly diminished as a leader on the world stage. No one listens to him. He does not back up his allies, and tries to placate those who should be his enemies. Neither side trusts him or his administration, with good reason.
