The intel community KNEW what the origins of Covid were and buried that information. And, according to the Wall Street Journal, Anthony Fauci and Joe Biden were also kept in the dark about it.
As was reported at the time, and we wrote about here, China stonewalled all attempts to get information about what the Wuhan lab was doing and what happened there. Biden, in the spring of 2021, had ordered an analysis to determine if the virus was from a wet market or from a lab mistake. FBI agent Jason Bannon, with a PH.D in microbiology was one who was researching the issue and was ready to present his findings.
The dominant view within the intelligence community was clear when Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence, and a couple of her senior analysts, briefed Biden and his top aides on Aug. 24. The National Intelligence Council, a body of senior intelligence officers who reported to Haines and that organized the intelligence review, had concluded with “low confidence” that Covid-19 had emerged when the virus leapt from an animal to a human. So did four intelligence agencies.
At the time, the FBI was the only agency that concluded a lab leak was likely, a judgment it had rendered with “moderate confidence.” But neither Bannan nor any other FBI officials were at the briefing to make their case first hand to the president.
“Being the only agency that assessed that a laboratory origin was more likely, and the agency that expressed the highest level of confidence in its analysis of the source of the pandemic, we anticipated the FBI would be asked to attend the briefing,” Bannan recalled in his first on-the-record interview on the subject. “I find it surprising that the White House didn’t ask.”
Read that again. The FBI had credible information about the origins of Covid. A lab leak. And they were shut out by key people at the White House.
Keep in mind, as we all know, Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance was thrilled when all discussions of the potential lab leak and gain of function research was shut down across the media/social media spectrum. The more they screamed to get that dialogue shut down, the more obvious it was to me that yes, it WAS a lab leak.
Well, guess what? It wasn’t just the FBI who knew.
Three scientists at the National Center for Medical Intelligence, part of the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency, conducted a scientific study that concluded that Covid-19 was manipulated in a laboratory in a risky research effort. But that analysis was at odds with the assessment of their parent agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and wasn’t incorporated in the report presented to Biden.
What did their research uncover?
The COVID virus contained a feature allowing for easier transmission to humans that was constructed in a manner similar to that described in a years-old Chinese study
A Chinese military researcher applied for a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine just weeks after the virus was first sequenced in 2020. (He later died after falling from the infamous Wuhan Institute of Virology’s roof, according to US investigators.)
WIV researchers worked with US researchers who trained them to construct viruses without leaving a trace of them being engineered.
It didn’t fit the approved narrative you see. And as we recall, the approved narrative meant shutting down any and all mentions of the lab leak theory.

And, in fact, one of those who pushed the animal to human zoonotic theory (while propping up the WHO report on the same) landed quite the cushy job a few months later.

What’s more, in July of 2021, those three scientists from the National Medical Intelligence Center, who connected the dots on the lab leak to a Chinese science paper from 2008, were essentially told to sit down and shut up.
They also argued that their findings were in line with the theory that the scientists in China were conducing “gain of function” research. They were able to brief colleagues on the findings, including an FBI agent that worked with Bannan. However, in July 2021, they were told to stop working with the FBI, the only agency that determined that the virus came from a lab. They were told by superiors that the FBI was “off the reservation.”
In addition to this, many of their edits were not accepted by the National Intelligence Council for the report.
In fact, the August 2021 briefing to the President left one key finding OUT of the report. That’s correct. All mention of this coming from a lab leak was left on the cutting room floor.
As I noted above, supposedly Joe Biden and those around him were left in the dark about the potential that this was a lab leak. Except as we all know, the Biden Brand has EXTENSIVE ties with China.

It’s going more than a bit far to imply that Joe Biden was unaware of the debate on the origins of Covid.
Three years later, what we were insistently told was a conspiracy theory, is actually fact.

Wfjag says: The important question is was it a leak or was it a release?
A potent bioweapon was created. How potent was in question. Dictatorships have a history of using their own populations for human experiments (for that matter, that’s happened in the US several times). One way to find out is to release it and see how potent it is and how easily and widely it spreads, and whether effective vaccines and treatments are developed. On the other hand, Chinese labs are notorious for slovenly bio-safeguarding protocols, and repeated failures to follow and enforce the protocols they have.

Ooh, that’s right, because king fauci was butthurt about rules preventing gain of function research in the US, so the puppy killer was more than happy to work with the chicoms on it, and give them all the money to do so. ( kept in the dark my ass, he was behind it!)
As to your point WF, I would suggest it was an intentional release. I think they had a good idea how lethal it was or wasn’t, after turning it lose in Wuhan months before it hit the world stage. They used it to see what the response of the world would be to such a thing, how it would shut down economies, etc., a d to determine where the weaknesses in defenses were, so that when they’re ready to use a truly lethal weapon, they’ll have the best Intel on how to do so. There’s a reason many refer to it as a ” plandemic)
And as to ” the big guy” knowing about it, I have no doubt he got his 10% for allowing them to get NIH funding and conducting the research, bit I doubt they’d trust him enough to let him in on the release. After the fact, he at least guessed the origin, which is why he or his cronies buried things as you note Nina.
