Ilhan Omar hates Israel with every ounce of her being. She’s blatantly honest about it. Yet, when she’s called out? The “apology” she was forced to make was fake and we all knew it. In the last few days, House Democrats finally realized they had to DO SOMETHING. Behold, an epically acrobatic fence straddling resolution that supposedly condemns anti-semitism and the kitchen sink, yet condemns exactly NOTHING.
It has been both amazing and incredibly disturbing to see prominent Democrats show their true colors. The statements from would-be Presidential candidates are a bunch of political gibberish. Nancy Pelosi’s re-explanation of what Ilhan did and didn’t say is laughable on multiple levels. Deanna writes here of Jim Clyburn’s extreme diss of Holocaust survivors. I absolutely cannot believe that survivors and families of Holocaust survivors were literally told to “check their privilege.”
Yet some Democrats do have a clue that allowing rampant anti-Semitism to roam Congress unchecked is a very bad thing. Rahm Emmanuel is not a fan.
“No one is questioning the right of members of Congress and others to criticize Israeli policies. But Omar is crossing a line that should not be crossed in political discourse. Her remarks are not anti-Israel; they are anti-Semitic.
Whether consciously or not, Representative Omar is repeating some of the ugliest stereotypes about Jews—tropes that have been unleashed by anti-Semites throughout history. She is casting Jewish Americans as the other, suggesting a dual loyalty that calls our devotion to America into question.”
He is right. “Othering” is EXACTLY what Ilhan Omar is doing. And no, don’t tell me she’s young, or that she’s uniformed. She runs around with Linda Sarsour. She thinks Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton are peachy keen guys. Keith Ellison is a fan of hers. That saying, ‘you are the company you keep?’ Look at Ilhan’s friends and sycophants.
So, what do the House Democrats do? Write up this bit of drivel called a resolution.

Seriously, you have to read through a significant portion of the resolution to get to the anti-Semitism part.
“”Whereas accusing Jews of being more loyal to Israel or to the Jewish community than to the United States constitutes anti-Semitism because it suggests that Jewish citizens cannot be patriotic Americans and trusted neighbors, when Jews have loyally served our Nation every day since its founding, whether in public or community life or mili- tary service;
Whereas accusations of dual loyalty generally have an insid- ious and pernicious history, including—
(1) the discriminatory incarceration of Americans of Japanese descent during World War II on their basis of race and alleged dual loyalty;
(2) the Dreyfus affair, when Alfred Dreyfus, a Jew- ish French artillery captain, was falsely convicted of passing secrets to Germany based on his Jewish back- ground;
(3) when the loyalty of President John F. Kennedy was questioned because of his Catholic faith; and
(4) the post-9/11 conditions faced by Muslim-Ameri-cans in the United States, including Islamophobia and false and vicious attacks on and threats to Muslim-Amer- icans for alleged association with terrorism;”
What is notably missing from this resolution is Ilhan Omar’s name. How cowardly of the Democrats.
Meghan McCain is absolutely correct here.
This historian is also correct.

The media is complicit in this. That they themselves are doing back flips to not hurt Ilhan Omar’s feelings, nor call out the anti-Semitism that she and others such as Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are exhibiting puts them on the same sewer level as the rest of the cowardly Democrats in Congress.
Ben Shapiro makes some great points regarding anti-semitism vs anti-Israel. That kind of gaslighting the Democrats are engaging in will harm us all.
This resolution was pointless and dishonest on every level. Ilhan Omar must be thrilled beyond belief that she has the Democrats cowed.
