On Wednesday, yet another police officer was attacked. In Millis, Massachusetts, an unidentified police officer was shot at by a man in a pickup truck. The officer returned shots, firing two or three rounds, before his car crashed and burst into flames. As of Wednesday evening, the suspect was still at large.

This newest shooting occurs after the outbreak of hatred towards police is spreading across the country at an alarming rate. While we don’t yet know if this particular instance of violence directed at police is a result of the #BlackLivesMatter crowd and their bombastic, ludicrous crowing, both in public and on social media, about the awful lives all oppressed blacks in America lead because of the evil police, we are seeing a trend in our nation of rampant hatred and distrust of law enforcement. People are quite literally asking what the police officers who are being attacked and murdered did to deserve it.

Take Monica Foy, a student at Sam Houston State University, who asked what slain Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth did to deserve being shot. She tweeted her moronic question, adding that Deputy Goforth had “creepy perv eyes,” and later she tweeted her support of #BlackLivesMatter.

There is some justice in the world, though, because Foy’s tweet ignited a firestorm with immense blowback. She later deleted her tweet, and then she deleted her whole Twitter account. It wasn’t quickly enough, though, because someone called the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department to tell them that Foy had an outstanding warrant in Harris County for assault. She has since been arrested.

All of these attacks or plots to harm police officers across the country are only revealing a deeper divide between the two political parties. On the Right, we see people who are appalled that police officers are being targeted simply for who they are – you know, discrimination. We trust these men and women to guard our neighborhoods and catch the bad guys, but we are now seeing our streets turned into battlegrounds between thuggish criminals and the police we trust. Progressives, like Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, are pushing this racially divisive war against the police because it helps promote them in the black communities and enables them to win their votes.

In the wake of the violence towards police, recruitment numbers across the country are falling rapidly. Jonathon Thompson, director of the National Sheriff’s Organization, says that recruitment is “way down.” He said that sheriff’s departments across the nation are reporting, in some places, an almost 50% decline in applications.

Sgt Delroy Burton, the chairman of the DC police union in Washington, compared the current treatment of police to the horrific treatment of veterans during the Vietnam War. He said that his police force is understaffed by 131 officer, and that they have seen 600 officers resign in the past 19 months, a number he said was unheard of.

“We’re sitting ducks,” Burton said. “We’re in those uniforms, brightly colored cars and there’s nothing we can do. And the vast majority supports this loud vocal minority.”

Milwaukee County Sheriff, David Clark, has been calling the Left and President Obama out on their outlandish treatment of our police forces across the country. He said they helped fan the flames.

“President Obama has breathed life into this ugly movement,” Clark told “Fox and Friends.” “and it is time not for good, law-abiding Americans to rise up. We now have to counter this slime, this filth coming out of these cop haters.”

Well, Sheriff Clark, a group of Americans agree with you, and are standing up to the hatred and violence facing police. Like the groups of people who guarded recruitment stations around the country following the Chattanooga shooting, a law enforcement officer shared a story about a group of people who guarded her in one instance and her husband at another gas station and time by surrounding, taking their back.

“We are human and feel and cry and bleed. I’m a patrol officer in the process of becoming a K-9 handler and my husband is a K-9 patrol officer.

Last night on shift I had a 16-17 year old black young man “watch” my back as I pumped gas in my unit, his friends laughed at first but came out and basically surrounded me. Gave me a hug and told me to be safe. One of the young men I had arrested 2 weeks ago, and yet he still had my back. The others I’ve never met.

My husband is in shift with his department right now, and had 6 people surround him while he fueled up 30 minutes ago. He said 2 old men and 2 old ladies in their 70s, a young white guy and older Hispanic female. None of them were there together, some people weren’t even at the gas station, they saw him pumping gas and stopped and left when he did, no fuel and never went inside the store. This is the world we live in. For me, that’s huge.”

Stories like this one give me hope that we won’t have a President Clinton or Sanders who will further fan the flames of hatred that has too long plagued our nation. It is past time to show these Leftists that we don’t need their form of “caring” and “equality” further dividing our nation, providing a smokescreen so they can make some new atrocious deal with another enemy that chants “Death to America.”
