Think the War on Cops isn’t real? Think again. In less than 24 hours yesterday four police officers across the United States were shot by criminals.

Sadly, one officer died from his wounds.

The officer, 50-year-old Det. Benjamin Marconi, was shot after he pulled a driver over for an unspecified traffic infraction near police headquarters at around 11:45 a.m. local time, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said during a news conference. While Marconi sat in his patrol car writing a ticket, a vehicle pulled up behind him, the killer emerged and fired at Marconi through the passenger-side window of the squad car.

The gunman then reached inside the car and fired a second shot at Marconi before walking back to his car and fleeing the scene through the police department parking lot. Both shots fired at Marconi, a 20-year veteran, hit him in the head, McManus said.

The suspect, a black man, is still at large and the manhunt for that cop killer continues.

Meanwhile Detective Marconi’s family mourns.

The Texas law enforcement community grieves, and Governor Abbott has had enough.

“Cecilia and I extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and harshly condemn this horrific act of violence. We ask that all Texans join us in praying for the officer’s loved ones as they deal with the aftermath of this unimaginable tragedy. Attacks against law enforcement officers will not be tolerated in Texas and must be met with swift justice, which is why I look forward to signing my Police Protection Act into law – making targeted attacks against law enforcement a hate crime. “

Detective Marconi wasn’t the only officer targeted yesterday. Three others were shot as well.

In Sanibel, Florida an officer was shot while making a traffic stop. In Gladstone, MO, officers gave chase after a suspect ran from a vehicle. One officer was wounded and the suspect killed after the suspect pulled a gun. In St. Louis a police sergeant was ambushed while sitting in his vehicle at a red light! The suspect, now dead after a shootout with the police, pulled up to the officer’s car and shot him twice, IN THE FACE.

“He was just protecting the streets and was shot without provocation,” said St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay. “He didn’t deserve this. He was just doing his job, but he was targeted because he was a police officer.”

Four officers shot and two were specifically targeted yesterday. The epidemic, and it is one, of deliberate targeting and murdering of cops is something that can no longer be ignored.

Dr. Ron Martinelli, writing in Police Magazine, correctly identifies one of the ugly social trends that has led to an escalation of these attacks.

There are sociopathic, out of control, predatory, and evil people in this world who we as a society refuse to control through the considered and reasonable application of the rule of law, and our failure to recognize this fact enables and empowers them to kill us. That’s it, but the reasons for the environment they now thrive in is important to understand.

If the rule of law isn’t applied because of feelings and political correctness; and if the flames of hate and anger continue to be fanned by our leadership at all levels and that includes OBAMA – then the list below will get longer and more horrific.

Dallas

Baton Rouge

Des Moines

New York

Los Angeles

Palm Springs

St. Louis

San Antonio

…Who is next?

The lack of leadership at all levels along with active support for criminals instead of law enforcement (and Obama is one of the ring leaders in this), has generated dangerous increases in citizen resistance to law enforcement, and a horrifying increase in officers being intentionally murdered in the line of duty. All because too many today don’t respect our law enforcement, nor do they want to. That needs to change NOW before more officers are killed, more families are devastated, and our country implodes from within.
