Huzzah! At last. There is a museum in Louisville, Kentucky where for the reasonable admission price of $15.00 (discounts do apply) you can experience slavery by being put in chains and absolve yourself of White guilt. This is particularly attractive to a certain type of White woman, and you know who I mean. I won’t be heading to this museum. Dear Lord.
This Louisville museum is the Roots 101 African American Museum, website here. Here are two museum descriptives from the site:
Our mission is to promote understanding and inspire appreciation of African American achievements, contributions, and experiences through exhibits, programs, and activities that illuminate the depth and richness of our history, culture, and art.
The Sankofa Players use storytelling, music, spoken word, and performance to honor the voices of our ancestors. Through their travels, they embody the meaning of “Sankofa,” reaching back to gather the best of our past to achieve our full potential.
The Sankofa description does not elucidate which of the 75 main languages of Africa it comes from.
The 10,000+ museum opened June 12, 2021 but, according to the New York Post does not have a permanent home:
A Kentucky black history museum known for “shackling” patrons and posting “white guilt” videos is expected to receive a $1 million grant from the local city government.
The Roots 101 African-American Museum in Louisville is set to receive the large sum from the local government as a part of a recently proposed budget.
Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said the funds will be used to establish a permanent home for the black history museum.
“With this budget, we’re sharing more of our history, with all of its depth and complexity,” Greenberg said last month.
The museum aims to “to empower visitors to recognize and appreciate the resilience, creativity, and contributions of African Americans.”
In my humble opinion learning history is a very good thing. But…
I find Mr. Lamont Collins problematic. He is one of those that who believe that all Black people are descended from Kings and Queens. Being Scots-Irish, I understand that all my people come from servants, serfs and slaves. Or, just poor.
In the opinion of types like Mr. Collins, America must pay in perpetuity for her Original Sin of slavery. This ignores the fact that slavery was the way of the world until recent history. It still exists in parts of the world with certain religions.
However, for a certain subset of American, this museum offers an important catharsis. Our friends at Twitchy have the story:
“Museum Exhibit Has AWFLs Put in Shackles by a Black Man Who Welcomes Them to America”
AWFL is the acronym for Affluent White Female Liberal. Yes, they are awful. More from Twitchy:
There are varying responses to the slave trade in America. Some dismiss the foundation of the entire country because of this original sin and argue that America was never great. Some lobby for reparations. Others insist they never owned slaves and therefore don’t feel any guilt or compulsion to pay reparations.
In this museum exhibit in Louisville, which reportedly got a $1 million grant (for what?), guilty white folks can be put in shackles by a black man and told, “Welcome to America,” and then asked to express what they’re feeling. Have the tissues ready.
No, this is not AI or satire

Shackles man is Mr. Lamont Collins. He nods sagely as the AWFL in front of him gives her bona fides as a truly good, non-racist. More:
The museum is the Roots 101 African American History Museum. The $1 million funding from the 2027 city budget is intended to support the museum’s mission to educate and tell stories of African American history, including the experience from slavery to the present. According to Grok, founder/CEO Lamont Collins uses heavy iron slave shackles on willing visitors during tours to evoke empathy about the transatlantic slave trade.
And she and her crazy ilk will drag you and me down with her if we let them. One thing I know is that those riddled with guilt are dangerous. They can't handle their self imposed heavy burden alone and will try to make you carry some of it.

Tell the truth about history, please. The truth will set you free. Find something else to feel guilty about. There are a ton of subjects rife with guilt out there.
I think I would rather go to Six Flags.
