Do Conservatives Hate Obama Too Much?

Yesterday, of all days, I read a post from a pro-Obama liberal castigating conservatives for hating Obama.  The post claimed that the Obamas have done nothing worse than anyone else, and conservatives are just being…wait for it…unpatriotic.  It got me thinking: Are conservatives worse?  Have we become that which we were angered by just a few years ago?  The short and G-rated answer is an unequivocal no.  Last time I checked, conservatives weren’t printing T-shirts with Obama’s face in a target, or openly calling for his assassination, like liberals did with Bush.

In decades past, the United States of America was the strongest, most free country in the world. Our military was both feared and respected.  When Ronald Reagan spoke, and said we would do something, people listened—because he meant what he said.  When Bush said we would go after those who attacked us on 9/11, we believed him because we knew it would happen.  This is not to say that Republican presidents were/are perfect; certainly Reagan and Bush had their issues—and those are for another article.  This is not even to say that we had no strong Democrat presidents.  Kennedy was one of the most corrupt presidents of our time, and yet he stood up to the Soviet Union.  There was a time when harming Americans abroad was akin to a death wish, because retribution would come as sure as the sun would rise.

Contrast this with the America of today.  We are ineffective, a laughingstock.  The Obama administration not only allows the murder of Americans to go unanswered in Benghazi, but lies to the American people about the circumstances of their murder because he was too busy getting some favors on the down low or something that night to be president and stand up for Americans in danger.  This joke of a leader not only has seen 73% of all casualties in Afghanistan happen under his watch, but he’s demanded that the military—the same men and women who have fought and died against al Qaeda and the Taliban—now go to Syria to fight FOR the people who tried to kill them in Afghanistan.  Beyond all political stupidity inherent in this position, it is a slap in the face of the military who has given so much. Not that we expect different from a man who calls the troops “his,” as if they serve him personally.  He has tied their hands in the Middle East with rules of engagement that ensure maximum casualties—on our side, not the enemy’s.  He has systematically gotten rid of any general not in line with his “America Down” plan.  As if all of that is not enough, former KGB agent Vladimir Putin suddenly looks sane and leader-like up against our president.  That is perhaps the greatest insult of all.  Ronnie is rolling in his grave right now.

Domestically, our nation is in a shambles.  We are being overrun with people from south of the border who think “freedom” is something you can pick up in aisle 6 at Walmart—or at the local food stamp office.  Not only are they coming here and taking as many resources as they can, they’re committing crimes and attempting to turn our country into the same cesspool they couldn’t wait to leave, and they’re not the only ones coming in.  People from countries like Yemen, Saudi, Iran, and others are getting in through that same porous southern border, and it’s not rocket science to realize that they aren’t looking for freedom and a few WIC coupons.  If you’ve read anything about the 9/11 hijackers, then you already know that many of them came in illegally–multiple times.  Our borders are like revolving doors, and yet we’re told to embrace these people, who “just want a better life.”  I’d personally be happy with secure borders and some flipping liberty.  It’s not my job to support the literally unwashed masses, but it’s also not the governments job to dictate the terms of my life—or force me to subsidize anyone else’s.

While we’re rolling out the red carpet for anyone in the world to come here and live off taxpayers, the government snoops into every single American’s affairs: finances, purchasing history, books we like, places we go, people we talk to, things we Google.  It is, at this point, nearly impossible to buy or sell, have a conversation via electronic means, be on the internet, or drive anywhere without the government having a record of it.  New information being released shows that the NSA has even paid companies like Microsoft and Google to “covertly influence” their software development to allow for backdoor access.  All the better to spy on you with, my dear.  We are told what we can eat and drink, what we can wear, how we go about our lives.  Since when is it the government’s business what you do?  I’ll give you a hint: it’s when you decided they should pay for it.

That brings me to another point: we are no longer free.  People are having feds raiding their homes because they googled “pressure cookers” so they could buy one and cook with it.  They’re being arrested for carrying legal arms in accordance with their rights under the Constitution.  They’re being told they can’t hold political office unless they believe a certain way.  They’re told that their parental rights do not trump the almighty government’s right to teach their children whatever it wants to.  In fact, people are being arrested for writing articles just like this one, for speaking out against what is happening all around us.  It is a dangerous thing now to speak ill of the king and his lackeys, and yet like sheep we fold ourselves into the new normal.  We censor ourselves, we curb what we say, too afraid that our own government will retaliate against us for saying what anyone who can think coherently can see.  When we the people are afraid of our government, there is tyranny.  Thomas Jefferson said that a few hundred years ago, and the simple phrase rings true today.

For those liberals who have actually read this far, you can save your kneejerk defenses. “Well, this started way before Obama.”  Yes, it did (remember me talking about issues for another post?).  The question then becomes, if your buddy in the White House is so interested in fixing the problems, then why is he doing more of it and still blaming others?  Our freedoms have been curtailed under Obama like never before, and once liberty is gone, it’s gone until people decide they’re willing to fight for it again.  In fact, the simple knowledge that speaking out against the king is becoming dangerous to our health is one of the biggest reasons why we don’t like Obama.  Are YOU willing to shed your own blood for liberty?  I didn’t think so.

At this point, if you still labor under the belief that the government wants what’s best for you, that it does not want to control you, that your ineffective, devious, disgusting excuse for a president and his America-hating wife somehow love this nation and actually want to see it succeed, then go back to chewing your cud in the pasture.  All you’re good for is getting fleeced.  The sheepdogs will take it from here, so try and stay out of the way, thanks.
