Just after University of Missouri President, Tim Wolfe resigns, a video has surfaced depicting a Mizzou Assistant Professor jumped into an altercation between a journalist and students, calling for “muscle” and bullying to move journalist, Tim Tai out of the area.
The Assistant Professor has been identified as Dr. Melissa Click and has since apologized:
“I regret the language and strategies I used, and sincerely apologize to the MU campus community…”-Melissa Click
As of yesterday morning, Click has also resigned her courtesy appointment to the School of Journalism, according to the dean.
Click, was reportedly raking in over $50,000 a year to conduct research and teach “Communications” to the minds of Mizzou, a highly-regarded University in the Journalism world. What has Click researched and what was part of her curriculum vitae? Take a look:
Making Monsters: Lady Gaga Fan Identification and Social Media
The Romanticization of Abstinence: Fan Response to Sexual Restraint in the Twilight Series.
Fifty Shades of Postfeminism: Contextualizing Readers’ Reflections on the Erotic Romance Series
Untidy: Fan response to the soiling of Martha Stewart’s spotless image.
Bitten by Twilight: Youth, Culture, Media and the Vampire Franchise
Yes, she apparently looooves Twilight…and why wouldn’t she if she is getting grants and getting paid a salary to spread her wealth of knowledge on the topic to students who are willing to listen and parents who are willing to pay for these classes! I made a personal note to my future self to check my son’s schedule of classes if my husband and I are forking over for college. The icing on the cake? Want to guess what Dr. Click provided for her dissertation? I thought you’d never ask!
It’s ‘A Good Thing’: The Commodification of Femininity, Affluence And Whiteness in the Martha Stewart Phenomenon.
You can read more about her career experience here. And there it is, friends. Our higher education dollars hard-at-work!
I know, I know…Dr. Click apologized. Therefore, I should probably leave well enough alone but hey, what fun would that be? Isn’t it just like a crazy college professor to apologize only after being caught in an attempt to hamper one’s First Amendment rights? Funny how no one hampered her rights as a privileged white gal talking about the “affluence and whiteness” of Martha Stewart! Journalist Tim Tai stated in the above video that he was just “trying to do his job”. Clearly, the concept of a “job” is lost on some of these poor kids who ditched their Lady Gaga versus Beyonce class to protest on the Mizzou mall. And, it’s crystal that they have no concept of how the First Amendment works. Hint: it’s not suppressing someone elses’ expression while trying to get your point across. Dr. Click may no longer be an associate professor at The University of Missouri but undoubtedly, another professor will be hired to dispense more knowledge to the masses. Sadly, this is college and I don’t think this is “a good thing.”
Can someone explain to me why every academic paper has to have a colon in it?
Making Monsters: Lady Gaga Fan Identification and Social Media
The Romanticization of Abstinence: Fan Response to Sexual Restraint in the Twilight Series.

I’m wondering how any of those topics can seriously be considered as necessary to academia?
How much critical thinking is truly possible with those courses? Survey of the recent actions by students during Yale and Mizzou protests tells me – the result is little to less than zero.
Tim Tai has brass balls.
