Christmas trees are among many of the American traditions brought from Europe. We obsess over finding the right shape and decorating the tree within an inch of its life.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!
In beauty green will always grow
Through summer sun and winter snow.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How lovely are your branches!
If you have ever been to Rockefeller Center in NYC, you have seen that most magnificent tree. True story: We used to take our son to a matinee performance of the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, walk over to the 21 Club for lunch and then saunter back to the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, just after Thanksgiving day. That kicked off the Christmas season for our little family. Of all the Christmas trees in the world, that tree at 30 Rock was IT.
Welcome to 2020! Thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill deBlasio and the Wuhan Lung Rot, NYC now rivals any third world, shit hole country. The Christmas Spectacular is cancelled, the 21 Club is closed, and the tree at Rockefeller Center? Well, it’s totally on brand for 2020.

Covid-19, fascist elected leaders, cheating Democrats, and murder hornets, I get. The Rockefeller Christmas Tree? Come on, man.
Last year, I wrote a post naming five Christmas gifts for public figures. What a naive child I was. Last year, with the Impeachment Hearings was a day with Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures compared to 2020.
Not to be outdone, the Christmas tree at Fountain Square in Cincinnati got into the 2020 branding act too:
A “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree? What could be more 2020? We know that our government hates us. We get it. Couldn’t they please leave our Christmas trees alone? Throw us a bone, man.
Oh and, if the 21 Club ever opens again, try the Chicken Hash, you will thank me. It’s heavenly.

“I never thought it was such a bad little tree. It’s not bad at all, really. Maybe it just needs a little love.”
