Shortly after noon Mountain Standard Time, at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley College in Orem, Utah, Charlie Kirk was assassinated by an unknown shooter.

He had just finished speaking at the Turning Point USA event and had opened it up for Q&A. Just as he was about to answer a question regarding transgenders and mass shooters, a shot rang out. And Charlie was hit, fatally. 

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed by an assassin while on stage during a stop at Utah Valley University kicking off his American Comeback Tour Wednesday, just as he answered a question from an audience member about mass shootings committed by transgender people.

The shooter remains on the loose, sources told The Post, despite conflicting reports that an arrest was made. Video was circulating on social media showing an older man being hauled away by police.

Even before Kirk’s death was confirmed, President Trump somberly spoke of him in the past tense, telling The Post, “He’s not doing well…yes, it looks very bad,” adding that he was feeling “not good” about the shooting.

“He was a very, very good friend of mine and he was a tremendous person,” the president said.

Prayers poured in from all across the political spectrum. Unfortunately, the shot was fatal and Charlie at age 31, perished from an assassin’s bullet leaving his beautiful wife Erika and two children behind.

While people were praying for Charlie’s healing, the media and certain politicians just couldn’t help themselves. 

Until he explicitly states otherwise, I am going to assume Dowd is glad this happened to Charlie.

I just truly can’t with these people. They have spent YEARS demonizing conservatives such as Charlie Kirk.  The SPLC even put Turning Point USA on their hate map earlier this year. Their commentary now only shows that Charlie was right. When they don’t have ideas or anything nice or constructive to say, all they can do is go negative and classless.  Yes J.B. Pritzker, I’m looking at you.

Charlie Kirk came on to the political scene and has built a reputation as a Happy Warrior willing to converse with and debate anyone no matter the political party on any subject. He spent a great deal of time on college campuses challenging students to THINK about their ideas, their stances, their parroting of narratives and talking points. 

In 2012, at the age of 18, he founded Turning Point USA, which developed into one of the most influential conservative political action groups in the nation.

Kirk has written several books, including “Time for a Turning Point,” “Campus Battlefield,” “The MAGA Doctrine,” “The College Scam,” and “Right Wing Revolution.”

In February 2025, Kirk joined the Trinity Broadcasting Network to host a weekday talk show called “Charlie Kirk Today.”

His debate with students at Cambridge earlier this year is well worth watching. 

Please take the time to watch how he handles the questions, the issues raised, and the students themselves. Charlie Kirk was another Andrew Breitbart. He reached the younger generation and what he had to say resonated with more than you know or even he realized. 

President Trump reacted to the news of Charlie’s assassination. 

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie,” he posted on Truth Social. “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Given the President’s near miss at Butler just over a year ago, by a sniper, this attack on Charlie Kirk has I’m sure brought back the feelings from that day. Especially since it’s looking strongly like it was a sniper who assassinated Charlie this afternoon. 

The folks at TPUSA sent out this message. 

Shutting down is what you shouldn’t be doing. Stepping up and making sure that these people do not get reelected is what you should be focusing on. Yes I get it. Sad, I get it’s heartbreaking. It’s awful but the best way to honor him is by not letting his death be in vain. @TPUSA…

I get it. I really really do. But now, we shouldn’t let Charlie’s death be in vain. Silence is not the answer. 

Nick Freitas is correct here. Charlie Kirk was EFFECTIVE and did his best to seek out common humanity, and people couldn’t stand that. 

President Trump has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast until 6pm Sunday evening.

I met Charlie Kirk when he was 18 years old, a young man so eager and determined that I immediately turned to a friend and said, “That kid is going to be the head of the RNC one day.” Charlie became even bigger and more important than that. It was a privilege to watch this principled man stand up for his beliefs and create the single most important conservative political organization in America. But more importantly, Charlie was a good man, a man who believed in right and wrong, who stood by his Biblical values. All of us will miss him, and I can’t imagine the pain of his beautiful young family, and we must all pray for them. And we must pick up the baton where Charlie left it, fighting for the things he believed in so passionately. And we must fight for a better America – an America where good people can speak truth and debate passionately without fear of a bullet. I weep for Charlie’s family, and I weep for my country today. Most of all, I weep for Charlie.
