Celebrities Make Another Barf Inducing Video

Just when you think that the nation hasn’t hit full stupid yet, here come celebrities telling us how much they care. And, along with the rest of us slobs, they’ll take responsibility for all the black lives that matter or something.

Here’s their video. Make sure you have some Pepto-Bismol on hand because the next two minutes are sure to induce nausea.

First of all, I don’t know who most of these people are, but then again, I don’t follow celebrities or entertainment much. However, I do recognize Julianne Moore, Stanley Tucci, and “Breaking Bad” actor Aaron Paul. At the end of the video, when Paul orders us to “step up! Take action!” I expected him to follow up with “Bitch!”

And what’s with those birth control glasses? Are they supposed to convince the rest of us that these celebrities are oh. . . serious? Intelligent even?

Yeah, no. In fact, even the liberal Daily Beast called the video “cringeworthy.” Glamour also noticed the cringe-y nature of the PSA. And when you’ve lost these two bastions of liberalism, you know that Twitter users aren’t far behind. Like Ricky Gervais, for example, who noticed the incredible whiteness of the assembled celebrities.

Perhaps Jussie Smollett should have added an appearance to the video. After all, a couple of Trump supporters attacked him last year.

Oh, wait. . .

Nick Searcy also took a jab at the sanctimonious Julianne Moore:

But despite the ridicule, these celebrities are carrying on with their mission to instruct white people how they can save black people from racism. At their website, ITakeResponsibility.org, after you slog through that awful video, it’s time for you to take responsibility:

“Now It’s Your Turn.”

“Make your own video, share it with the world, challenge your friends to do the same, and use the hashtag: #itakeresponsibility

“What are you taking responsibility for in order to end systemic racism in America? How are you going to take action?”

But in case you’re not sure how you’re going to “take action,” you can “take the pledge.” The pledge includes these two drop-down windows:

I checked out that laundry list, but I didn’t see anything that would apply to me. After all, I’ve only spent decades working as a speech pathologist in urban areas, sometimes providing speech therapy in all-black schools. But I guess that doesn’t count, according to this list.

I wonder how many of those celebrities have deigned to leave their mansions to work with people in low-income neighborhoods. I’m guessing a big fat zero, but what do I know?

If you don’t want to commit yourself to any of the things the website recommends, you can always provide what these luminaries and the founders of this hot mess really want.

Money, of course.

On their home page, the famous folk tell you that you can “donate to families affected.” They don’t tell you who these families are, but trust them. They’re celebrities. They know things we plebes don’t know.

Like, for instance, “black people are being slaughtered in the streets. Killed in their own homes,” as Julianne Moore plaintively informs us.

Well, yes they are. According to the FBI, black-on-black homicide far outstrips white-on-black homicide. But we’re not supposed to talk about that. And “killed in their own homes?” As in Chicago over Memorial Day weekend, when 50 people were shot in gang violence? That number also included a five-year-old girl, standing outside with her family. But a little black girl being shot in a drive-by shooting doesn’t count either.

Never fear: celebrities have solutions for those tragedies, of course. Just check out their website. Burn with appropriate amounts of white guilt. And send money.

Kim is a pint-sized patriot who packs some big contradictions. She is a Baby Boomer who never became a hippie, an active Republican who first registered as a Democrat (okay, it was to help a sorority sister's father in his run for sheriff), and a devout Lutheran who practices yoga. Growing up in small-town Indiana, now living in the Kansas City metro, Kim is a conservative Midwestern gal whose heart is also in the Seattle area, where her eldest daughter, son-in-law, and grandson live. Kim is a working speech pathologist who left school system employment behind to subcontract to an agency, and has never looked back. She describes her conservatism as falling in the mold of Russell Kirk's Ten Conservative Principles. Don't know what they are? Google them!

What utter horseshit: These celebs speak, as if preaching. Do they really think the real people care what they think?? I would much rather listen to the “guys at the end of the bar” at a local gin mill; They really understand real life!!

On a related note, the new just carried a breathless story about how in some locales, blacks are arrested at much higher rates than whites, or than their percentage of the population would suggest.
Of course the stated reason for this is racism (what else could it be???) No mention of how many of those arrests resulted in convictions, or other relevant data. It’s not like the reason any group is arrested at a rate higher than their percentage of the population could possibly be because THEY COMMIT MORE CRIMES could it???
Watching all of this stupidity makes it VERY clear who the racists are (Hint: they’re the same people that brought you the KKK, Jim Crow Laws,a slow moving attempt at ethnic cleansing ala Margaret Sanger, gun laws that disproportionately affect minorities, Robert Byrd, etc. etc.)

Talk is cheap. As my grade school teachers used to say “Show your work”. Concrete examples would help.
