A little good news for your Friday – sanity has prevailed, for the moment, in regard to the cadets at West Point who were caught on camera playing the “circle game.”
If you remember all the way back to last weekend, the media – spurred on by Twitter – absolutely melted down over these cadets who were playing the “circle game” while at the Army-Navy football game. Thanks to the 4chan prank that will not die, normal people merely facepalmed as these supremely horrified Twitter users went nuts over West Point cadets flashing “white supremacy hand gestures.”
And their battle cry? PUNISH EVERYONE.
Well, West Point looked into it, and came back today to tell everyone to chill the hell out.
The investigating officer concluded that the cadets were playing a common game, popular among teenagers today, known as the “circle game” and the intent was not associated with ideologies or movements that are contrary to the Army values.

Now, leadership was not thrilled with the behavior of the cadets, probably because they actually had to waste time on this extremely silly “investigation” to placate the social media mob.
“We investigated this matter thoroughly. Last Saturday we had reason to believe these actions were an innocent game and not linked to extremism, but we must take allegations such as these very seriously,” said Lt. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, 60th superintendent, U.S. Military Academy.”
“We are disappointed by the immature behavior of the cadets,” he noted.”
According to the academy, the “circle game” started in the stands before ESPN cameras panned to the players.”
Navy and Army cadets involved with the game “will receive appropriate administrative and/or disciplinary actions,” the statement said.”
“We develop leaders of character who serve to defend our nation and the American people, and we expect our cadets to lead and live honorably and demonstrate excellence. Leading and living honorably means to act in a professional manner at all times,” Mr. Williams added.”
So, when will there be some apologies here? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
I’m joking, of course. Twitter means never having to say you’re sorry. However, Townhall writer Julio Rosas helpfully compiled an entire Twitter thread with many a blue checkmark demanding the doxxing and shaming of these cadets.
Some of these tweets got thousands of RTs and likes off of accusing our future military leaders of being white supremacists. It's shameful: (2/X) pic.twitter.com/00phRA6uLB

The social media justice mob never learns. They got nothing out of Covington Catholic (and just a reminder, those defamation suits are BACK), and the pack mentality just brings out the worst “hot takes.” And there are very few apologies when things go completely off the rails, or a more complete picture emerges.
This entire debacle is more egregious than most, because this entire “white power hand gesture” has been repeatedly debunked. And even though they know they’ve been had, the media still keeps falling for this. It’s just pathetic. So, while common sense did win the day for the cadets of West Point, it won’t be long before the Twitterati find a new thing to gang up on and bash. That’s what they do. Sane people, it’s just best to stay as far away as possible from Twitter.

If that kind of effort had been used in Afganistan we would be out of there by now and a lot less poorer.

I think “The Circle Game” is the PC name. That’s not exactly the name I remember from my semi-misspent youth…
They got nothing out of Covington Catholic
Oh, I disagree. They learned that their fellows in the media will continue to cover for them, and their allies in the judiciary will try to protect them. Hence, doing it all over again.
I think the entirety of the Midshipmen and Cadet Corps should sue the various media organs who repeated this farce for libel – as a class action suit.
