Biden Still Believes Democrats Support Israel

There is a cease fire between Israel and Gaza at the moment. Hamas is claiming victory, Israel claims they took out more than 200 Hamas militants and smashed up their network of underground tunnels.

But because nothing is permanent when it comes to the fragile truces that Hamas agrees to, there are already clashes in Jerusalem.

Israeli police tossed stun grenades near crowds of Palestinians who had gathered for prayers at the mosque, according to videos posted on social media. An Israeli police spokesman said riots had broken out and hundreds of people threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at police officers, who responded with crowd-dispersal methods. At least 20 Palestinians were injured during the clashes, the Palestinian Red Crescent said.”

Footage before the clashes began showed large crowds of Palestinians gathered at the mosque shouting pro-Hamas chants and others waving the Palestinian flags. “We are the men of Mohammed Deif,” the crowd chanted, referring to the head of Hamas’s military wing.”

Yeah, the video above is pretty clear that it wasn’t just Friday prayers that were happening. But Hamas is trying to claim a victory because they think for every child that dies in Gaza, they get the sympathy of the world. Sadly, they aren’t wrong.

However, Joe Biden believes that his party, which is moving ever to the left, still supports Israel’s right to self-defense. The man barely has a pulse of his own, and we are supposed to buy that he has his finger on the pulse of the Democrat party?

Biden was asked in a news conference Friday with South Korean President Moon Jae-In what his “message to Democrats who want you to be more confrontational with Israel.”

“My party still supports Israel,” Biden said. “Until the region says unequivocally they acknowledge the right of Israel to exist as an independent Jewish state, there will be no peace.”

He again called for a two-state solution in the region. “There is no shift in my commitment to the security of Israel. Period. No shift, not at all. But I’ll tell you what there is a shift in. The shift is that, we still need a two-state solution. It is the only answer. The only answer.”

Um, I know that Biden probably doesn’t remember this, but he just praised Rashida Tlaib (though he couldn’t remember her actual name) for her “passion” (whatever that means) just earlier this week. Tlaib and Ilhan Omar are probably tied for the title of “worst anti-Semite in Congress,” but at least she got a pat on the head from Biden. I’m sure that old-school Biden thinks that since he acknowledged Tlaib, she and the left wing of the party will now fall in line with what he says.

Think again, Joe.

… this latest violence marked a shift in the American political debate over Israel. The criticism from the left was louder than in the past, with progressives pressuring Biden to speak up forcefully in support of Palestinians, who saw a far greater civilian death toll in recent days.”

This shift is tied to two main factors: the growing power of racial justice movements in the United States and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s embrace of the American right wing in recent years.”

Those forces sparked the biggest public disagreement yet between Biden and the progressive wing of his party. To some, news of a cease-fire was welcome but insufficient; they want the Democratic Party to rethink its relationship fundamentally with Israel.”

The reality is that the younger, hard left progressive members of the Democratic caucus in Congress are on the march to align the party with their social justice values. Members like Cori Bush (a former BLM activist) and AOC are busy spouting off that Israel is “an apartheid state” while demanding that Israel stop being so mean to Hamas. Then they try to block the sale of arms to Israel in a resolution that will go nowhere fast, but hey, at least they made their opinions about Israel and Hamas quite clear.

So clear, in fact, that with the wave of anti-Semitic violence that is now breaking out all over the United States, AOC has been forced to walk back her strident tone as pro-Palestinian protestors decided to target American Jews. It seems AOC may have belatedly realized that her rhetoric could cost her in New York City.

Oh yes, if everyone in New York City would just take the “Bystander Intervention Training,” then the problem would be solved. I’m sure that will work when explosive devices are thrown into crowds. AOC’s fellow New York Democrat Socialist and Squad newbie Jamaal Bowman put out a statement condemning anti-Semitism in New York. Why, it’s as if not saying something about these attacks might hurt your political career in New York City!

However, the Biden administration is silent about the anti-Semitic attacks across the country. Why? Because while Biden can mumble his way through his belief that Democrats are still pro-Israel, the reality is that they are becoming much more openly anti-Semitic. They have accepted anti-Semites in their ranks as a party, and lack the ability to condemn it. And Biden believing “my party still supports Israel” both annoys the hard left, and gives them cover to continue to spew their hateful venom.
